    The double header coal train is spectacular. Makes me want to model the coal lines. Remember the sound of a steam locomotive whistle echoing off the mountains. A beautiful layout . Thank you. J. Vorhes StJ&GI and Kansas Central , Bethesda, Md.

    On a side note, that kid crying because dad wouldn’t let him grab the train (@ 13:00) was music to my ears. I miss my kids being young enough to parent to like that. And now it seems most parents will often stand there and go “no, Kevin”, repeatedly, until the kid does it anyway.

    Very nice garden layout and filming, but prefer to view it without the distraction of watchers speaking over the running train sounds.

    What manufacturer makes the small track right of way signals and are those made for g scale? Are the operation with DCC?

    • @Dakman
      @Dakman  Před 9 lety

      Tracy Mitchell There are currently 2 manufacturers who makes signals for G Scale. South Bend Signal www.sbsignal.com/Large_Scale.html which operate by infared to detect a train coming much like a real signal. Z Stuff for Trains also sells a little bit of G Scale signals which also work from sensors. But nothing is offered that works on DCC. www.z-stuff.net/dz1050_g.html

    That is one amazing layout. You must be the envy of the block . And the house where all the neighborhood kids wanna hang out .
    Can I ask what brand of rail and switches you used ?? It looks to be stainless steel ...

    • @Dakman

      The person who owns this layout has since replaced everything with AML brand track

    Is a perfect work of engineer. Very very beautiful. Congratulations and a question : When does it snow, how do they do it ?

    • @Dakman
      @Dakman  Před 7 lety

      Most of the time the trains will not get run thru snow. However there are people in the G Scale community who do own G Scale plows and rotary snow plows to clear the track

    Beautiful garden layout. But boy, they'll slap Pennsylvania decals on ANYTHING won't they!

  • @darrelljacobjr2120
    @darrelljacobjr2120 Před 8 lety

    Pros: Track, trestles, bridges, trackbed gravel, and trains seemed to scale.
    Cons: Buildings looked off-scale. Nothing was weathered...i'd paint the rail rust-brown except where you need contact for control. Weather the trains, rolling stock, buildings, and vehicles. Everything looked so new it was as if it had been lain out the day before. Learn how to run the trains at scale speed. All the trains i saw were going at least 2x too fast for realism.
    But hey!...it's better than MY garden railway.

  • @Hornhausen

    • @henrylandrum6079
      @henrylandrum6079 Před 7 lety

      But seriously why do most of the engines say Pennsylvania, even the big boy like locos

    • @Dakman
      @Dakman  Před 7 lety

      Some people are just fans of a particular railroad. The locomotives you are referring to are actually a Mallet Steam Locomotive.
