I was given an iPad Air that was not charging. The previous owner had used an aftermarket Duracell charger, which stretched out the port to the point where it wouldn't make contact anymore, the apple charger fit very loose in the port. I checked out the Duracell charger and it was thicker than an apple one.
I was able to do this job with no microscope, the hardest part is lining it up and not being to check till you put it back together.

Hy, First of all thank you very much for this excellent tutorial.
Now I hope you can help me with this.
You are talking about a problem with iPad air 1 that is coming from the chip and not from the charge port.
It charge when is off but when is on 2% stops charging. Well I have the same problem with my iPad air 2!!
Do you think is also the chip the one is malfunctioning?
One thing I notice is that when I smell the port, it have a burned smell in it, but I can not see any fiscal damage.
So I asume something is burned in the port and that's why does not work properly.
I really hope is the port and not the chip!!!
I was ready to do te repair and change the charging port but after I soo your video and ear that particularly comment.....Now I don't now what I have to do.
I hope not but If I have to repair that chip, I really need a tutorial to follow the steps!!
What do you thing about it? do I give it a try and change the port and see if that help?
I hope you can help me with this!
Thank you very much and keep the good work!!

I hear you say to use a good hot air station and wanted to know what model I should look for ( I apologize if you've answered this already). I'd like to buy what you'll teach with in your course so ill be familiar with everything. since this is a new area for me (microsoldering) , what is an easy repair that I could practice with to kind of build a little experience? Jessa nice videos love you channel learning a lot hoping to attend practical board repair in a few months. I have a issue with a iPad mini 1st gen the digitizer wasn't working had no cracks I had a broken tester digitizer so I changed the digitizer ic and put on the non-responding digitizer in another video I remember you saying that controls the touch after assembling I didn't get video I forgot to unplug battery would that blow the backlight filter? Since I've been watching your channel I know it's not the coil haha. Should I just replace the digitizer entirely or should the one I replaced the ic chip be fine any advice I would greatly appreciate. I'm trying to save for a Hakko station with the tweezers the one I'm working on is a 3 or 4 g and sim is near the filter don't wanna use hot air for fear of melting hope one day to be as good as you keep videos coming I enjoy watching and learning . I went to wild piece of crap didn't learn correct soldering at all and have a stupid microscope from them with like a 2 inch clearance horrible tools from there total waste of money. I ordered a amscope from Internet didn't work every time I looked it had a dime size image and when I backed off eye pieces image was fine I'm trying to get all the tools so after your class I have everything I need.

Do you have a video showing the replacement of the air power management chip on a ipad air 1 ? If you have a battery picture but it not charging and the battery level stays in the same place is that a power management chip problem ? What does seeing the battery picture but the battery doesn't charge tell you ? I'm in the USA, is there a place you would recommend I could send my ipad to get looked at . Someone you know that will do as good a job as you do . Mu ipad air 1 was working just fine and the battery was holding charge really good and when I did let it get down to 50 % It would charge up just fine till one night I was chrome casting a movie and I fell asleep so it went completely dead . I think its the first time it has ever been that low . So the first time it got in the red it won't charge back up . Is it possible for a battery that seemed to be working and charging like it should all of a sudden once it was drained all the way down not charge back up again ? Should I try a new battery first ?

ipod air one charge problems are almost never the charge port?? i have one that's not charging... it started to have problems like when i plugged it in, it wouldn't charge so i had to unplug it, turn the cable over and re insert it and it would charge, then it got harder and harder to get to charge until it was almost impossible to make charge... then it went to where when i got it to charge it would take forever to charge it up to 100% like all day long to charge... now it wont charge at all. so, it may not be the port? how do i find out?

I have a iPad Air 2 and a guy changed the charging ribbon and it didn’t fix it. Is this a chip issue on these?

How much do you all charge for doing what you did in the video ?

Watching your video I managed to replace the charge connector, but another problem arose after the procedure, the speaker sound stopped working. I installed a new connector the result was the same, the speaker did not work. Could you please tell me what could have happened? Thank you very much! Has anyone had this problem and found the solution?
