Each Season The Royal Ballet dances through thousands of shoes at a cost of over £250,000. A gift of £39 to our annual Pointe Shoes Appeal could buy one pair of pointe shoes for a Royal Ballet dancer.

xrainbowmintx if you’re doing shows, some dancers will go through 10 pairs a WEEK!

That’s actually like not a lot at all they would go through 10 a week on a daily basis (not shows)

i just think it’s insane that these dancers could be in these shoes for up to 8 hours. my longest rehearsal en pointe was 2 and half hours and i thought my feet were gonna fall off. SO MUCH RESPECT

It hurts, but it’s worth it at the end.
I have to tell you. (I am 4 years in pointes). You will get used to it! It's really easy after a year or so, but remember to change your pointe shoes at least every year because if you don't it will maybe cause you lots of hurting and it is also really difficult to get on pointe with old shoes 💛

i am 11 and i am no where near getting my first pair. i go to ballet classes at a small studio near my house, but i don't think i'll ever get pointe shoes as some of my classmates have been dancing at that studio since before i was born, and they don't dance on pointe. 😭
fool me once it is okay. I have been dancing for eight years at a small dance studio also. Just keep on dancing and do not give up on yourself and you will get them someday.😊

From the training, to professional. Yes, they go through a lot of them and knowing someone that has experienced doing ballet at that level. I respect them and appreciate what they do.

Most people who saying that are being ironic, and/or funny. It's like the comments "am I the only English comment here" on a non-English video. Not like they are ragging on the video or anything just usually making conversation or an observation. Most of the time they aren't being negative, so don't see a reason to react negatively to those comments.

Would love to see a more detailed video of what the dancers do to their shoes. I'd love more detail on how they darn their pointe shoes. I've always just cut the satin off the end of mine. I've never seen yarn used.

I'm a beginner en pointe, I've been doing ballet for more than 7 years now. it's really fun !! but keep in mind you need to be well trained until you get them ((: (wait for your teacher's approval !!!!!)

dont know why im so addicted to videos of ballerinas customizing their pointe shoes. I think it's because 1) they're filmed in a very aesthetically pleasing way 2) the ballerinas' actions seem elegant even when they're basically "destroying" the shoe lol 3) Its amazing to think they go through all this trouble constantly since appaently professionals have to replace them with new ones after one or two shows and repeat the process again.
This reminds me of the movie, Black Swan; when Nina is preparing her ballet shoes. It's interesting, how art imitates life. Ballet dancers go through so much rigor, in order to deliver a perfectly elegant and beautiful performance.

It's look so easy to use pointe shoes but trust me, it's not easy at all.
I love this BUT the music drowns out the voices. and I have all volume levels to 100% and still difficult to hear them speak and the song hello mother, hello father here I am at camp grenada is not what I wanted to hear....lol but I enjoyed what info I could hear
