- Have you ever wondered what it would be like to stay in a castle in the middle of nowhere? Well in this video, we take you on a tour of Bovey Castle in Devon, England.
Located in the beautiful countryside of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, Bovey Castle was first opened as a hotel and golf resort in 1930 by Great Western Railway.
With a choice of hotel rooms and luxury lodges, Bovey Castle offers a 5-star holiday in Devon, away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.
We stayed in one of their Grand State Rooms for two nights in December. All the rooms are different, and we were lucky enough to get the only room in the hotel, that has a balcony. OK, it was December, but still, it was nice to go out onto the balcony and imagine lying in the baking sun of a warm July day in Dartmoor National Park!
In this video, we give you a guided room tour of the hotel room at Bovey Castle, the hotel, as well as showing you some of the highlights from the huge Bovey Castle estate!
We also tasted some of the best food on Dartmoor, in the Great Western Restaurant for evening meal, afternoon tea, and breakfast.
It’s one of our longest videos yet, as there was just so much to see and do, even if the weather was somewhat wet!

that room with the balcony is amazing! I may have to visit this place! :O seems to be a theme with these graded buildings with the air conditioning.
Yes it's an amazing room! All the rooms are nice, but I'd recommend to always go for a valley view room, which that one is. I think the Savoy in London has air conditioning, and is grade II or grade I listed. We stayed in one of their personality suites a few years ago that look out over the Thames. That was before we started creating videos though. Have a great time if you do visit Bovey Castle. Make sure to pre-book some of their activities a few weeks before hand.
