    Best explanation of this knot I've seen. Tried reading about in a survival manual with pictures and was more confused than when I started.

    You've got it wrong. Or lets say there are two versions. I was reparing a sink and this version slipped when the cordage was wet. You want to lead the line the other way so that it touches the stopping knot where it's leaving the hitch. Then it doesnt come loose. It has to push on it. Your version can be undone more easily but is less secure.

    Thanks for the tutorial on this knot, I very much appreciate it, it’s now a knot that I will be using every trip out, and I’ll be sure to pass this knowledge on to others.

    THANK YOU. That’s a simple knot that I’m going to start using.
    After watching a famous Canadian try to explain this knot for 15 minutes with bad camera work, you easily taught it in under four minutes.

    I’ve always been “challenged” when it comes to knots. You just taught me very simply how to tie that knot. Thank you Sailor!

    If I recall correctly, the last time I used this I was able to make the first overhand slippery so it was easier to untie. Otherwise, with some cordage, you’ll never get it untied once it’s been under load.

    Thank you for your instructions, you made it so damn simple!! On other sites, I got lost in the explanatory details and obscurities where either fingers, hand or arm is blocking the visual instruction.
    You and others like you, get a thumbs up 'like' from me.😁

    So that's why Canadian Jam tastes a little ropey 😊
    (for those of you who are American or Canadian ropey is a Australian term used In a similar way to something being dodgy or sketchy)

  • @jaytam1
    @jaytam1 Před 4 lety +2

    TBH there are many hitches that can perform the same function without the difficulty in untying the stop knots especially if your rope is wet and swells. The tautline hitch, cows hitch, ferrimond's friction hitch can all perform the same function without the problems of undoing the stop knots at a later stage.

    • @trollmcclure1884
      @trollmcclure1884 Před 3 lety

      It has its place. I had to hold together a pipe under a sink with a piece in the sink and sealings in between and tried taut line hitch. These gay hitches may work for climbing but to fasten something slippery with a great force and leave it, this was the right knot. He has it wrong though

  • @trollmcclure1884
    @trollmcclure1884 Před 4 lety +2

    It can be done without going through. Why is everyone doing it? What if you wanna use a 200 feet cordage?

    Dude, seriously, slow TF down, you wiggle the knot around so much and so fast that I can't tell overhand from underhand or a which way you stick the standing end into the main knot - from the left or from the right. But I do appreciate the video. Thanks
