I have always thought Abbado to be a wonderful conductor. Saw him in concert many times. I remember when the CSO DG recording was released I thought I had heard the perfect Symphonie Fantastique. The incredible sounds he got from the orchestra blew me away (and DG did a stunning engineering job). But now I've heard this - just wow is all I can say
