He fumbled the handover at the 2019 World Championships. The team was disqualified, costing Italy at least a minor medal.
While he ran a scintillating last leg to take Italy home to Olympic gold in Tokyo, the handover wasn't great, but he earned his redemption.
Patta, who ran the first leg in Tokyo and penultimate leg here, only took up sprinting at 16, having been a talented footballer. He got to 10.13 within a few years, but hasn't progressed since.

He has ran the last 10m in 0.84s (which is comparable with Lyles at his best) and although I haven't found this confirmed by any major source yet in T&FN forums and Twitter I have seen his split here timed at 8.79s, thus making the top 10 all-time again.
Filippo Tortu has a weak twin that does all the solo races, then the stronger twin comes out for the team realy runs and make outstanding performances. I dont have another explanation.

I think that in the solo race he can't always handle the pression around him, but in team he knows that he's the strongest along Jacobs so he's pretty confident

The Jamaican team are the youngest team in the finals and they medalled the first time in the 4x100 relays since 2015. Thats an accomplishment period

I am happy for my country. To be second against that American team and that Lyles (faster of our time of Tokyo 2020) is a reason for honor. Too bad for Marcel Jacobs who this year had many physical problems(he still have a personal faster than Lyles), but he did an amazing relay, Very fast time also for Rigali and Patta. And Tortu burned there, Canada and Jamaica and run at the same speed as Lyles being spaced only at the end.
