I got one with smaller barrels (and then returned it and bought the one she uses here. The smaller one definitely looked 80s - like a perm I had once, crossed with a crimper. 😅

I use on clean hair just fine and use a barrel on the top so it doesn’t look old school ... use dry shampoo if hairs is too clean or texture spray .. love your hair

What do you mean by barrel?
@@gabdimaio1319 a barrel is a cylindrical curling iron. So instead of using a flat iron she uses a curling iron, probably a 2" or possibly larger.
Very nice tutorial. . . . results look great! But . . . . having been in my early 20's in the Big 80's, today's beach waves really have nothing to do with that 80's look. Hair was BiG on top of the head.

I can never get a curl right with the flat iron...so annoying so I got this to help make it easier...hope i wont need the flat iron

I just got my tigi wave artist today and I followed your technique. I’m having trouble getting my flat iron to put a wave in my hair. It just goes flat. Idk what to do to make it curl. I have 3 different flat irons so I know it’s not the iron. It must be my inability to do it correctly. Any advice?
I use a heat shield spray to allow me to apply heat with less damage. Apply styling products to your hair, which will help hold the curls in place longer. Depending on what works with your hair, apply a tiny bit of mousse prior to drying your hair. Or, spray a bit of hairspray before, during and after curling.

You could use this for Marcel Waves, but most are using the "Bed Head A-Wave-We-Go Adjustable Hair Waver" for marcel waves I believe.
What was the products you used , gloss and hair spray ?

This tool doesn't work at all on shoulder length hair, took me 40min to try getting head done, I only got 2 waves. Was terrible I returned it

I’ve had my beach waver for almost two yrs and I hardly use it. My hair length is same as yours and I didn’t think it would work as well as on longer hair. I did use it not long ago and I was impressed. I really like how you also used flat iron for the top layer. I’m not good at making curls with one but you made it look simple. ok I was considering buying the waver. I have a bob style haircut cut longer on the front part and shorter in the back.I tried
using a flat iron to do it but mine is a Kipozi and it has like 5 buttons on it to control heat and they are so delicate I keep pushing
them and the heat goes up too high! Also I can't seem to clamp it good because of this.Can someone tell me ..is there a good flat iron that is like 50 dollars or under that doesn't have all these delicate buttons?

This is probably a dumb question, but it seems like you do the curls for all the top layers, why don’t you just curl it all? Is the beach waver faster? Or do you get a different effect using the two different tools?? Thank you for the great tutorial, it makes me feel like I might be able to achieve this look!!! With a lot of practice 🤣

All of the above. Volume, texture and its faster. As a stylist I like to combine wave types especially for texture. It appears she also wanted the waves around her face (with the flat iron) going back instead of all horizontal. It gives it that nice little kick out towards the middle to swirl out and away from the face. The waver she used helps go faster and creates some volume too. And not a dumb question at all, the best looks we see on social media often are more detailed than is explained to us.
Ok, so we use it like a crimper not a barrel curler. No wonder I wasn't getting anywhere.
