WOW! John is EXTREMELY underrated as a soloist AND can sing!
Oates is a fine singer, songwriter, and guitarist in his own right. Great to see him performing!
What you mean in his own right. That always makes it sound to me that you don't really think he's a good artist he just as good as Daryl
He’s great❤
@@CJ-zp7qjHall lead the vocals for a reason. He gave Oates a compliment on this comment. They may be on the same level as an artist but Daryl had the better vocals. Those same jams aren't going to number 1 on the charts if John was lead vocals.
@@terrillt426 man you crazy as fuck
I never seen a guy ride someone's coat tails more than this guy. You can't compare the two.
There's no denying Daryl Hall is an amazing singer, so it's not hard to understand why he was out front. But I love not only getting to hear John Oates sing (he has a great voice!), but also to hear him share his role in creating such great songs. His contributions to their music tend to get overlooked, so go John Oates!
Raven Pittman 💛🤎💛🤎
@WorldRenownedCFE they are still together
So true...John`s voice IMO is every bit as Soulful as Daryl`s...Just A little different...But Dam good...!
are you Swiss
The back story of these TIMELESS songs are what I love the most
What's it about?
I've never thought of this before, but John reminds me of Prince! Both the looks, the voice and the arrangement here.
😂
Makes sense....since they always considered their duo to be a soul duo.
Many people don't realize how big of a quiet genius John Oates was and still is. The synergy that was created between he and Daryl Hall was what drew me to them 50 years ago.
Interesting to see this song re-imagined as a kind of acoustic country song.
guts
John was 70 years old in this clip. Hope I look this good at that age. Great performance!
I saw Hall & Oates in college late '70s. Great great concert GE Smith was on lead guitar but what I was impressed by was John Oates rhythm guitar work. After all these years that concert still stands out as one of the best I went to
I had a huge crush on John Oates back in the 80's and still do. God what a performer. The best voice with so much soul and feeling. Yup the crush is still there. 💗💗💞💞
I love this version. John your voice is amazing. Pure Fire. ❤️
This was really good wasn’t it? I love John’s voice but his inflection makes this version really great.
This verision alone should be a radio hit! I love Daryl, i love the original, but this is Amazing!
I did the monitors at The Roxy theater in LA from 2001/2003 and I did John Oates monitors for his solo show. One of the nicest guys ever!!
Beautiful, love hearing more from John - so talented and soulful.
I appreciate your kind words and compliments, I would love to have a conversation with you, do you have a mobile number i can text you on?
@@johnoates5110 lol
Damn! John Oates! I love your version so much!
Oates is getting more refined over time, still so impressive~
Hearing this, Hall and Oates missed out on the whole Unplugged fad in the 90s. This song is damn fine unplugged!
They were big on that.. change of season was all implied.. they were on mtv unplugged.. search for it
Check out the Acoustic Power World Tour ,
Absolutely fantastic shows .
Damn this version was legit fire!!!
I love the slight melody change in the verses. 😁😁😁
1:55 - This is such a groovy version. Love it.
Yes 🥰
I wish I could like this video one billion times.
🤣
The brains behind Hall and Oates. Severely underrated as a musical genius.
What makes you think that? I am only asking because from what I have found is that they share the majority of song writing credits. Some are listed as John being the primary, while others list Daryl as the primary. Both of them are awesome musicians and writers.
@@pskattum It's been a running gag since like the 80s that Oates just rode Halls tail. Which is of course not true
John Oats is a very talented guy, and I'm honored to have heard him and Daryl, in conert, several years ago, as I was given a back-stage pass, by him (or his mother-in-law)? I keep his autograph, in the top drawer of my desk! The concert was held at the Star Plaza Theatre, in Indiana. I forget the year? Thanks for sharing this amazing video. Peace, Brother Charles Pratt ...oh, JOhn's mother-in-law (Sharon Pommier) was a former nurse of ours, here, at Good Shepherd Mannor, in Momence, Illinois!
This acoustic version of this great song is fantastic! ❤
Bravo Maestro
Thats how you created this song
Amazing John now i can tell you love the original
The one at the studio after Trillions of aragments it gave you guys platinum hits...Thank you John please keep doing it there is not much time in our lives that share our best moments
Thanks Man
He has a great voice. I wish he would have used it full power.
little did he know that that song would travel from new york small apartment to my school gymnasium way out west lunchtime dance and be the biggest song of the time,,,80s forever,,,
I love John's style. Great job.
I appreciate your kind words and compliments, I would love to have a conversation with you, do you have a mobile number i can text you on?

@K.F.C KERNEL it’s repeated on his other videos, so it’s probably fake. I saw a comment with 2 replies, both being John Oates, yet they were different accounts. Seems kinda shady...
John wrote, or co-wrote, their biggest hits. The two biggest, Maneater and Out of Touch, were John's compositions. Certainly, Daryl, Sara, Janna, and other collaborated, but those songs began with John's ideas.
Daryll would be nothing without John! or maybe no lol
you forgot the biggest song that launched their careers... shes gone! fully a john concept from his life experience
@imagydmusic1129 Sara Smile was their first big hit. She's Gone was covered by Tavares and hit #1 for them. She's Gone was re-released by Atlantic after Sara Smile hit the top 10.
John also wrote Do It For Love, the last #1 (AC chart) written by either singer.
The point is, for Daryl to claim that he did most of the work after 1975 is preposterous.. if it weren't for Johm's writing talent, where would he be?
But he didn't actually. Hall and Sarah Allen wrote most of the big songs.
@@LEWFROST2 But Daryll seems to have done better after H&O than John has.
I’ve come to believe that they really were the John and Paul of the 80s. Or maybe Paul and Art, not quite sure. But they were really up there, Damnit! Philly soul!
John seems like just a chill dude and such an underrated vocalist, love that he gets high too lol. Really like this slower soulful take on the song
Anyone who says he doesn't have range doesn't know music. .. beautiful version, thanks
やっぱり上手いなぁ〜〜John
また日本に来てください!
絶対に観に行きます!!!!!!!!
Great version!
Holy shit, that voice!
This is my favorite version of this song, John's voice is so soulful I cannot get enough!
This acoustic version makes a familiar song something so new and beautiful. It is distilled down to basic essence. Fabulous.
3:43 He makes a very Daryl sound
The 🐐 and he’s got MOORISH blood in him too!!!
This sounds amazing. He's got such a unique style which just gets lost with Hall and Oates (not surprising as Daryl is such a great singer) but I have to say, I love this.
Fabulous!!!!! Love watching John perform.
I appreciate your kind words and compliments, I would love to have a conversation with you, do you have a mobile number i can text you on?
He sings tremendously whoaw John you got it so well
So much effort, so much soul... Loved it!
John..thank you..!!
I love the stories behind songs. Thanks John. 🙂
Big Bam Boom was a fantastic album....used to listen to it while running.
This version goes so hard!! 🔥🔥🔥
Goosebumps!!
No wonder Daryl is suing him. This is is 1000 times better than the studio version. Fantastic!!!
That was beautiful 💐 Thanks 🙌
I borrowed your song in many of my teenage relationships in the 80's and in my adult life now a days 🙏
Wow John! LOVE YOUR VOICE! ❤ 🔥 🔥
Preciosa versión. De John Oates
love love love!
Very gentle and elegant version. Guthrie Trapp gives wonderful flavours to the song with the 335, so stylish, he's the best
Amazing!
I’m blown away. This version is far better. OMG. Oates is the good vibe. I would pay to hear this in person. 💖💫✨
I saw Hall and Oates in 1978. To me, John Oates was very good at keeping everyone wanting more. For example, his vocal parts were "just enough," to make you want to hear more. He was he same way with how he moved around on stage. He kept you waiting for his next move. He never overdid anything. He's probably a great chef!
Oates has a great voice!!!
Ok, this video convinced me this is the Anteater on Masked Singer this season
Beautiful guitar accompaniment by Guthrie Trapp ....a masterclass in tasteful addition
So happy seeing John Oats performing! So many memories!
Great voice!! Love this version!! Maybe he should have sung more lead during H&O heyday.
Good performance John!! The song great!! And Daryl great (duet whith John)
That was awesome!
so cool
Dang after this I like John more than Daryl, and this ain't a personal thing, it's just his tone of voice.
AMEi!!! E que roupa linda!👏👏👏👏🥰
didnt know he wrote this song i love so much. thanks oates
So.great. LOVE it.
For many years I actually thought John Oates was like Penn and Teller - like he just didn't speak, he didn't have a voice or something. Refreshing to hear him though, this is very nice. Love this song too, I remember being a middle teen when it came out.
2:50 , 3:45 , 4:38
You're out of touch
I'm out of time
But I'm out of my head when you're not around
You're out of touch
I'm out of time
But I'm out of my head when you're not around
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
Oh oh oh oh oh oh
You're out of touch
I'm out of time
But I'm out of my head when you're not around
You're out of touch
I'm out of time
But I'm out of my head when you're not around
You're out of touch

But I'm out of my head when you're not around🎤🎶
It's nice to see John perform and claim his hit songs. It's his turn to shine solo.
Wow he still sounds great! What a fantastic artist! 🤩🥰❤️
His voice is awesome! ❤️
Incredible, great acoustic version John☝️
Brilliant and such talent. Love it. Thanks
This song just does something to me. Ever since I was a child❤
John Oates....amazing talent
They are both great artists, just very different like they have always said.
I appreciate your kind words and compliments, I would love to have a conversation with you, do you have a mobile number i can text you on?
@UCW4mODNXgZEFyp_uiXxGztg screw off scammer.

John Oates I love ❤️ your performance!!!.
I hope you come to Miami for a concert 🎶 !!!!!! You have here millions of followers!!! ❤❤❤
awwweeeeeeeeesssssssoooooooommmmmmmeeeee great john oates i miss dyrall hall
Cool version!
Siempre fuistes y seras mi maestro por siempre Jhon....gracias por tu musica inmortal....
Love John's voice wow😍💕
Just amazing!!! They could of put this out back in 83' and made billions!!! John Oates was so chill, everyone was so hung up on Darryl, rightfully so he had the higher pitch, but John Oates was a musician, low key killing the game with his wisdom and insight and voice..yall could compare him to Darryl all day, but John is a phenomenon..his own being..something the average mf would not understand.
Daryl get most of the attention but News Flash: John Oates is a PURE BEAST!!!
I always love to hear back story of the song. Its amazing to know how musician made the song and what was inspiration to create something 😃😊
Awesome! What a treat! So talented man. Thank you fir sharing this!!
This song originally came out when I was an idealistic 17 Yr old in Ireland ...memories
Love Johnʻs version💖
TYVMone of my fav
Daryl may have been the front man, but I was always crazy about John...The Starsky and Hutch of music 🥰
Love his voice
Great guy. Great singer!!! I didn't know he sang so well, as I only listened to the Hall.
one of my favorite tunes, how bout you?
It's great, my daily jam! What's your profile picture btw?
great job brother !!!!
Hall & Oates were a true team back in the 1980s. I think they are still if not the most successful duo in music history they are up there. How he came up with the chorus is very interesting . Knew he had a good voice even through Hall was the lead singer. Love this rendition on his part.
👏👏👏
Wow, that sounds epic!!!!!!!
Awesome version! Hope Daryl 's attorneys don't issue a cease-and-desist and have this video taken down...
