Warrior's fan here, there's just a culture of hating on this Celtics squad. They had a deep run early on and the bar has been set high ever since. Players like Joker and Luka came up short many times before Joker got a ring last year, and you did not see even remotely close to the same level of criticisms. Luka could run someone over with a car and people would celebrate it. Meanwhile Tatum just out here playing ball and people hate him.

Tatum has been winning at a high level for so long that we expect it. There's never been this time to develop only expectations to win after his rookie season and he's done that. 4 conference title appearances and 1 finals appearance in his first 7 seasons makes him a certified superstar. I get Brandon's point though Ant and wolves look like it's when not if.

One thing people always leave out is that for the first 5 season of Tatum's career he had between $30 and $60 million dollars worth of cap space injured on the bench every single playoff run. The only one he didn't have major injuries and he was forced to be not the #1 his second year, they were knocked out ugly in the second round with Kyrie and Hayward at the helm. Between Hayward, Kyrie, Kemba, and even Jaylen Brown once missed entire playoffs (though he only decided to get wrist surgery because the team was .500 that season, he could've put it off but it wasn't worth missing the start of the following season for a really mid season).
Tatum has been available and playing in every single playoff game the Celtics have been in since he joined the team. Availability is the best ability. He's missed more games in his career from covid and resting the final reg season game before the playoffs than from injury.
Tatum's first NBA game Hayward snapped his leg 5 minutes into the first season and he had to pick up LeBron so game because of it and still put up like 19pts 10reb.
I understand the criticisms of Tatum's game, he's not perfect by any means, but he's damn good on both sides of the ball and he plays every single game for his team. His defense is often overlooked but he's one of the hardest PF to score on in the league, a vital defensive position.

  • @gregleavitt1255

As a C's fan, I see Tatum as an A-student in life and always wants to meet or exceed expectations at every level. And he's a humble, excellent human being. With the rosters we've had, he has met or exceeded expectations in terms of team results and he's been humble and excellent in terms of dealing with both the success and failure throughout. This is the best roster he's ever had to work with and he's the best all around player he's ever been. All the haters will move on to another stupid subject once he wins.

The disrespect for Tatum has been crazy. If he doesn't score 30 the narrative is that he's playing bad. Even though he has great play making for his team and plays great defense while still putting up something like 23/12/5. The volume isn't there like it once was. He's probably only averaging like 15-16 shots a game. You have guys like Brunson shooting 30+ times consistently putting up 40 points because his team needs that from him. The Celtics don't need Tatum to do that.

And as a Celtics fan I don’t see him as potientally being a top 15 player all time. I think he can be Paul Pierce/pippen. Def a top 50 guy when it’s all said and done.
