বৈষ্ণব ধর্মের প্রতিষ্ঠা করেছিলেন চৈতন্য মহাপ্রভু। তিনি ছিলেন একাধারে বিপুল জ্ঞানী, সর্বশাস্ত্রজ্ঞ, কবি, দার্শনিক, ধর্মগুরু, সর্বত্যাগী সন্ন্যাসী ও সমাজ সংস্কারক। বৈষ্ণব ধর্মের মধ্যে তিনি গৌড়ীয় মতের প্রচলন করেন। সংকীর্তণ আন্দোলন করে গোটা দেশে ভক্তি ও প্রেমের ঝড় তুলেছিলেন শ্রীচৈতন্য। তাঁর ভক্তেরা তাঁকে একই দেহে রাধা ও কৃষ্ণের সংমিশ্রণ বলে মনে করে থাকেন।
Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu founded Vaishnavism. He was a great scholar, omniscient scholar, poet, philosopher, religious guru, self-sacrificing monk and social reformer. He popularized the Gaudiya doctrine in the Vaishnava religion. Shri Chaitanya created a storm of devotion and love in the whole country by Sankirtan movement. His devotees consider him as a combination of Radha and Krishna in the same body.
