    If you put the differential feed to "'R" of "Rolled hem" the stitches will be more tighter similar to satin stitches. Even though the instructions say "Only the right hand needle is used for rolled hem" I don't think so.👍👍👍 Thanks for sharing.

    If you could please help me figure out what is wrong with my Serger (Janome) I will be very thankful. I have threaded all the 4 needles the right way but the 1st one on the right, the thread keeps coming out of the needle and even if it stays on, the stitches are very loose coz the thread isn’t getting caught in the stitching. Please help. 🙏

    What is the difference between an over lock and sewing machine?

    • @Jessalli
      @Jessalli  Před 5 lety

      An overlocker basically finishes off fabrics in a more professional way. It cuts, finishes the edges and joins them. You don't need one at all, but very useful if you sew a lot of stretch fabrics.

    • @Jessalli
      @Jessalli  Před rokem

      Oh no! Definitely sounds like a threading issue, triple check your threading. Could also be a blunt needle if it's been used a lot. x

    • @Jessalli
      @Jessalli  Před 4 lety

      Hi Brenda, yes I wanted one that was user friendly and had a range of adjustable settings. Plus one that was easier to thread up. I paid £400 for mine, but yes they start at about £200. x

    Hi Jess. Just came across your site. Really easy to watch and listen too. I'm waiting for the Jaguar 489 to come back into stock. Having researched overlockers for some time, I think the Jaguar seems very easy to thread as the whole front comes open. I'm a bit scared of using one but also very excited. Do you have any views on the Jaguar? I have subscribed, so look forward to more blogs from you. Regards Jackie

    Hi there
    I am a total newbie and this was an awesome video.
    Just a question if I may though - do you sew with your machine first then just overlock or do you not need the sewing machine with an overlocker. Thank you

    • @Jessalli
      @Jessalli  Před 3 lety +1

      I do both depending on what I'm making. All my jersey items are made on the overlocker, apart from the hems which I finish on my machine. x

    • @Jessalli
      @Jessalli  Před 7 lety +1

      Allison Duerden you won't need different feet, so don't worry about that! But tweezers are a must! Especially when threading up! Other than that you don't need anything, but a little oil is good to have! 😊

    Hia, great video, thanks for sharing. I have this machine too. I am having trouble when hemming my jersey garments and using a twin needle. They just keep tunnelling. So I was wondering if there was a way of topstitching or hemming using this machine.? Hope you don't mind me asking. Xxx

    • @Jessalli
      @Jessalli  Před 5 lety +1

      I hate using twin needles. I always use my overlocker to finish the raw edge, then fold up, press the hem and then just use a neat zig zag on my machine to hem it. x

    • @LADeValk
      @LADeValk Před 4 lety

      @angela best a Cover Stitch machine does that. It makes nice top stitched finished hems. The serger is great for seams. It’s handy to have both machines.

    I got an over locker for Christmas and I was wondering what colour thread would show up on the right side of the fabric

    • @Jessalli
      @Jessalli  Před 6 lety

      Hi Phoebe, If you were serging with the fabric right side up, it would mostly be the left and right needles and the upper looper. But the lower looper does still show up a tiny bit as it holds it all together. The best thing to do is have all 4 threads the same colour as your fabric. :)

    • @Jessalli
      @Jessalli  Před 3 lety

      The tension dials are all on the fronts of the thread tensioners at the top. They should be between 3&5 normally. But for different fabrics you may need to tweak it further. x
