That's a good plan man. definitely rest up a couple days and yes have the doc check it out.
PS grab a tube of Aspercreme when Poy and I hiked the Grand Canyon my calf cramped something fierce and I could barely walk. I used that on my calves that night and the next morning I felt 90% better. I know it's not the same as what you got going on but it may help
