Thanks for this awesome guide mate! Also checked out the other class guide on the website. Very useful guides. I can use them as a base from which I can tweak to my playstyle. Cheers!
This is the best guide I've ever seen on a ESO class (PvE) so far, absolutely insane the amount of effort you put into this. A complete and very helpful guide and your tone of voice and clearness in explaining everything are top level! The only thing I would have appreciated would have been how to actually use necros in real content, with examples of how pairing fatties with the new set which grants major vulnerability, and even more when and how to use EC, but it's really nit-picking! Awesome work mate and can't wait to see the videos for the other classes!
The first 25 minutes of the video are universal to all classes and is almost like a DPS master class! Very informative, you could consider uploading that part as a separate video. Thank you for the quality content.
Alright dude credit where credit's due. That is an amazing find on the weapon and spell resistance potions! I had always assumed those were major Ward and major resolve, but it looks like they are unnamed Buffs! No one ever thinks you're supposed to build for survival, but that is an amazing tool for it and survival is very important
I appreciate how in-depth & thorough you make your guides. I am incredibly detail-oriented and a lot of guides honestly don't highlight many of the smaller facets builds. So thanks for taking the time to care about the content you give us. It's most appreciated!
Hit 120k with the 30 second static. Really a fun rotation. For some reason, I miss almost all my light attacks on stampede, but I am not going to lose a lot of sleep over it. Great build and guide!
Haven't had a chance to fully watch this, but after the first 30 seconds, I can already tell this is going to be a really good one to review and listen to.
I'm new to ESO and most of the community and my friend recommended you. I'm a necromancer myself and this truly helped me given I've never played ESO or any mmo before, thank you!💯

I am super excited about the upcoming patch. I’m working on a stamblade that uses non perfected bahseis. My mag is always low since I use twisting path and shade. Thanks for all the testing and info!
That 30-second static rotation might be a bit over-the-top while you're playing with mechanics, but honestly you broke it up really well and I think that after you learn it the rhythm is just going to feel like playing the drum and you'll just be able to keep it up indefinitely with almost no effort. hi skinny i have a question, for your magika necromancer, did you use light pieces ? for the 121.2k dynamic (no spamable) ? thanks for the answer great job for your video as always
I am thinking of your Gear Setup 1 but with heavy chest (since it is the best armor slot) and medium in one slot (Legs or Feet because they are the highest remaining armor-giving non monster slots), and the rest Light armor. I would do this mix to get passive from all armor trees plus the Undaunted Mettle passive which boosts Health/Magicka/Stamina by 6% as reward for doing this. Is this possible while still maintaining set bonuses from your Gear Setup 1? I could use jewelry/weapon slots to ensure I get set bonuses but not sure I would be able to get all set bonuses if chest must be heavy and legs-or-feet must be medium and the rest light. Does anyone know? Edit: Is this the best idea? Legs: Kilt (medium). Head: Slimecraw (Heavy). Remaining: Light. Because I don't see any way to use a heavy chest with any of the sets required with this. And head is part of the tier 2 group of armor slots which means it gives the 2nd most armor of all slots. I think this may be the best way to fulfill 1 of each armor type...
Absolutely amazing guide, love to see different perspectives. I wanted to ask what your thoughts were on unfathomable darkness and azureblight, or pillar of nirn setup? I just love darkness crows with necro for theme, but want to make sure I’m not utterly crippling myself. Thank you!
Unfathomable is okay. Def the worst of those listed but for pure single target dmg it can do decent. I wouldn’t bring it to HM stuff though probably aside from maybe some dungeons

Thanks a lot for the strong and incredible work you put into this! I dislike 1 thing about your best 125k build. Here is the thing: You went with Avid Boneyard for self synergy for Dps (and it activates Undaunted Command passive to restore resources which is great), which means you lose Major Breach. Fine! But then you grabbed Caltrops for a 2nd DoT. Fine too! But why did you morph Caltrops to Anti Cavalry Caltrops? The Razor Caltrops gives you a major breach AoE in a huge radius (bigger than boneyard) anywhere you are. And all you lose is 5 seconds of overall Caltrops duration. And keep in mind, the 15 second (ACC) vs 10 second (RC) duration are ZERO damage difference, because each ticks for the same amount of damage per second. The only difference is that you need to recast Razor Caltrops every 10 seconds instead of every 15 seconds. I think of course that you wanted to align some skill cooldowns and/or use 50% less stamina in Caltrops casts, for this static parse. But for all non-trial content, you need major breach AoE for solo and for dungeons where other members are noobs/don't have it! Razor Caltrops is better for a normal solo/group scenario, except specialized trials where someone else is assigned to do major breach. :D Edit: I see, Stampede and Anti Cavalry Caltrops line up at 15 second durations. Hmm. Damn. Would it be possible to update the 30 second rotation to fit 3x Razor Caltrops instead of 2x Anti Cavalry Caltrops casts? Edit 2: Maybe the best idea is to swap Avid Boneyard to Unnerving Boneyard to get Major Breach that way without messing with the 30 second rotation. But if the 30 second rotation CAN be tweaked to align the extra Razor Caltrops cast, I would prefer that. Since Avid Boneyard self synergy is great DPS. Edit 3: When I think about it, most solo/overland/4 man content is so easy that Major Breach is unnecessary as long as I use Light Armor to get through their defenses. I will use your suggestions, Anti Cavalry Caltrops (aligns in 30s rotation and saves stamina) and Avid Boneyard (more dps and gives resource regeneration via Undaunted Command passive). I hope my post is useful to other people!
It's awesome and all to play the race you want to play - but to get into raid groups for simple hm trial runs etc - Because of "Hodor's" the situation and requirements get abit hostile if your damage isn't up to the level of those who are using the optimize race for dps. No matter what happens majority of the groups will always choose those who are fully optimize with the meta setup's (that includes race)
Honestly I’d say find a different group then. I’ve done trial trifectas on an imperial mag DK and outparsed many of the others in the group, back when DKs were not a favored class. People are often very closeminded but you know what, their loss.
How have I never seen you before? You're incredibly intelligent with the most in-depth analysis I've ever seen from any build creator. The only thing that surprises me is that your Stamina setup became #1. What is your opinion of the esologs statistics? Rockgrove Trial, all data since Patch 33, results: Magicka Necromancer 95.31 score (472 logs). Stamina Necromanceer 80.99 score (4 logs). So, 99.15% of all trial players after the patch run Magicka Necromancer, and their DPS scoer is much higher than the stamina builds. It makes me think one of two things is going on: Either they're all sheep that play the same Magicka build without thinking, or perhaps Magicka builds are better in real world trials instead of dummies? What do you think is going on here?
Thank you! I think it is mostly due to most groups not being setup for medium armor pen. I’ve heard talk of more groups moving to alkosh though so we mag see some more stam setups as people transition.
@@skinnycheeks Ahhh thanks for the answer, so they're running Light + Magicka to get offensive penetration? That makes perfect sense. But yeah for very high-end raiding guilds I'd guess they will have someone with Alkosh and dedicated to triggering synergies at the boss, which would allow more Medium + Stamina DPS. The debuff from Alkosh is based on the player's weapon damage though, so I guess the full 6000 debuff is gonna be very rare. Therefore I think only the top guilds in the world will run Alkosh + Stamina DPS. What do you think of running a hybrid though? Stamina DPS in light armor for the penetration? I guess it's pretty hard since most of the non-crafted Light sets have Magicka stats, so it's really hard to mix those... If you want Light armor you're gonna end up with Magicka stat on most gear, which means it's best to stack the Magicka stat to do more DPS... I guess it's not viable to do Light armor Stamina DPS.
@@BenderdickCumbersnatch just depends how you set your skills up really and what you can sustain. i also wouldn't be so sure that esologs is correctly reading what each build is. i'm not sure how it flags what is stam or mag dps
@@skinnycheeks That's a really good point. ESOLogs will probably have trouble identifying builds for a while since many people run 50/50 magicka stamina abilities now. Alright, thinking about all of this, I will pick your Light armor Magicka build just because I will need the offensive penetration in almost all groups. I recently joined ESO in February but have 18 years of MMO experience, so I pick things up really quickly (i.e. mechanics are pretty much instantly understood in fights without preparation), but I don't know the nuances of the builds in ESO. So I GREATLY appreciate your incredibly detailed video guide and the clarifications here. Thanks a lot! :) I'm a Redguard which means Magicka won't be natural for my character (I hear that the races with +2000 Magicka will have 3-6% more DPS In the end)... but at least I have incredible Stamina regen/sustain passives which will help a lot with the hybrid Stamina abilities! :) I'll be watching the Magicka part of your video again and re-spec my character. Fun times! :) Subscribing. You are the best build creator I've ever seen for ESO. Alcast, Lucky Ghost, Xynode etc can't hold a candle to your level of in-depth technical understanding! Seriously. :P
OMG Infodump of Doom! Thanks again for the amount of effort you putbin this Vids! I am really torn with this hybridroad we now get....one Side...Cool! New Options! Will be fun! Other Side: WTF IS this Game become.....No Personality anymore with this soup of everything whatever blah. Really can't say at this Point how i actually feel 🤣 very Strange. Is DK coming neeext?! 😍
Yo Skinny, love your content man. What are you thinking for Stamden? Droz still meta with carve/stampede? Or do you see a drop off there now with the changes to both skills?
Yet another amazing video!!! Loving the shield comments 👌😂 I am curious though… I had someone on my team ask why the 10% spell resistance reduction from the Destruction Staff skill line passives isn’t included in the penetration calculation? I had been calculating penetration prior to this calculator and never included it, but seeing that this one also doesn’t include it, it has me curious why. Would you happen to know the answer?
Because not enough of your abilities count for it to warrant building with that number in mind. Better to build in a way where all your abilities hit the cap
@@skinnycheeks thank you for replying! You’re always so good about that 👌 I ended up thinking through it with my team mate and came to that same conclusion. Seemed so obvious after thinking about it some more.
Amazing video! Super excited to run hybrid and wear something other then bashei. I run magcro but deep down being able to run 2h and dual wield is a dream come true. Am I right in thinking that I can run the 30 sec rotation as mag with all the same skills as with stam? Or is it more efficient with stam? Can’t wait to dig into the 30s rotation!
Very sick video! One question, do get any pen in your 125k tests? relequen and AY are not light sets, daggers+2Hsword, thief stone i assume, etc. doesn't give pen. I see you using caltrops but I think it gives major breach, which is already on the dummy. So whil getting pen is good stacking raw damage + crit still gives the highest dps?
For your future testing, id love to see a setup backbarring two five piece sets (like nirn and unfathomable darkness, these are just easy examples, there are probably better options) with a 3 piece set (agility/willpower or one of the ranged crit sets) and the markyn ring. Front bar would look like 2 4piece bonuses, mythic ring, and a 3 piece set, while the back bar would be 2 5piece sets with mythic ring. This would give you the ring’s full bonus on the front, the full bonus of 2 five piece sets, and the full 3 piece set while on the front bar giving you a ton of stats overall
I’m done some markyn ring testing on trash setups that are running similar configurations and it felt pretty underwhelming overall. I realize you get the armor too so that has to be considered but…idk just didn’t feel great
@@skinnycheeks I always run Sugar skulls for content and ghastly eyeballs for parsing. If the fight doesn't require too much movement or roll dodging, deadly cloak would be okay, but I think I am going to use scalding rune instead cuz it fits better with PBM. Deadly cloak would probably work better with riptide. Also thanks for the response and the content you create.
Great guide! Been thinking about getting back into ESO and this guide really inspired me to make a Necromancer. But now I have a question: I've heard a lot of things about "Dynamic Scaling?" And how soon even if you make a stamina build, your Magicka abilities will do the same damage as your stamina abilities? Is this true or am I horribly informed? 😅
They just changed it this patch so every damage ability is going to scale with your highest offensive stat. This opens up the door for a lot of hybridization. So yeah you can make a stamina build, but you can throw in some magic abilities and their damage is going to scale off your max stamina / max weapon damage
EDIT: Nevermind, found the answer in the video.... What penetration should we be shooting for? I just finished a Warden Bow/Bow build and his penetration is like 2000 which worries me.
Hey thank you so much for all the informative videos over the year. I owe your content a lot in my journey into hitting 100k+ on the 21mil! Do you know if Zaan can crit? I remember reading something about it not critting but I feel like it could be a good dps option for necro with rapid rot so I might want to try it instead of mythics
if my flex are spammables does the skelly archer, dagger cloack and bear trap go away then? or do they also still need to be reaplied? it's a bit unclear for me..
thanks for the explanation on the rotation its super helpful! If Im a khajiit what cp would i take and do i still wear kilt? Ive been seeing alot of khajiit not wearing kilt, and im so confused on what to put on my cat now D:
Thanks for the amazing guide Skinny! Quick question but is Pestilent Colossus just better than Glacial? It's not magic damage but does deal higher raw damage and the stun from glacial usually does nothing against bosses
Hi Skinny, thanks for the build guide! Would you consider making a Nightblade bow build? I think bows + NBs are a good fit, and with the new update there might be noteworthy spammables besides Lethal Arrow, which some of us can't stand :D
it is only a line of stamina so like 1-1.2% difference if you are stacking stamina. if you are stacking magicka then the perfected bonus makes no difference in your damage
Is the medium armor build viable if backbar MA2H is not perfected? Or is missing that pen too much of a drop? Secondly, if not, would it be viable for 4man HM? What do you think is best 4man HM set up? Dope vids
Great video, very informative! Thanks. Question - I'm looking at your Gear Combo #1 but can't figure out how to take that info and translate it into penetration and damage numbers. Any help you can provide on that is most appreciated. Thanks.
The problem is as magdps of necromancer I am not using class skill that much... Two of them in the front bar and one in the back bar... Result My necro is suffering from an identity crisis...😢
I'm starting a magcro and this kind of content feel so helpful for a person who don't know much about the class, what will be the loss of dps using a breton instead of top races ?
1:09:14 I did the same eq on pts and I only had 55 DPS (on the same dummy) . Blastobnes only dealt 10-13k dps. I have tried with various mundus stones. This video is a joke. Bad rotation could not reduce dps by 65k
Sounds like you are missing some core fundamentals for what is happening. Rotation being done well definitely makes up the biggest part of the dmg. There are people who have taken what I’ve presented here and performed better than me, so there is no joke to it at all.
Hey whats up with the boxes? Does that make it so you don’t have to wiggle so your stampede don’t act up? If so is there a trick to placement or anything weird to make it work? Good video as always man! Ty!
So I wasn’t using them in these clips but yes that is what they can be used for so that you can turn on auto run. But I ended up setting up my rotations to where there was always a skill paired with stampede which kind of accomplished the same thing. Or you can do the wiggle.
@@skinnycheeks I’m guessing auto run is a pc thing? So the boxes were essentially to do the same thing as the wiggle does? Will that bix thing eliminate the need to wiggle for console?
I have a question though: I saw in the ad before this video that the new Tide spray really does get all stains out super fast. Is that true, has anyone tried?
Hey just wondering what you think of Burning Spellweave. I don’t really keep up with the META but I’ve been told it was an excellent beginner’s set to use with Mother’s Sorrow. I see you didn’t list it on your other set options. Thanks!
Is a Left to Right rotation setup even possible… Example: (Square - LA - Triangle - LA - Circle - LA - L1 - LA - R1 - LA - “Bar Swap” - Repeat🔁). ??????

Edit 3: When I think about it, most solo/overland/4 man content is so easy that Major Breach is unnecessary as long as I use Light Armor to get through their defenses. I will use your suggestions, Anti Cavalry Caltrops (aligns in 30s rotation and saves stamina) and Avid Boneyard (more dps and gives resource regeneration via Undaunted Command passive). I hope my post is useful to other people!
Skinny as usual, incredible information and incredibly well researched. many thanks big dog, appreciate your efforts

Thanks for your work. 👍
I'm a Redguard which means Magicka won't be natural for my character (I hear that the races with +2000 Magicka will have 3-6% more DPS In the end)... but at least I have incredible Stamina regen/sustain passives which will help a lot with the hybrid Stamina abilities! :) I'll be watching the Magicka part of your video again and re-spec my character. Fun times! :)
Subscribing. You are the best build creator I've ever seen for ESO. Alcast, Lucky Ghost, Xynode etc can't hold a candle to your level of in-depth technical understanding! Seriously. :P
@@BenderdickCumbersnatch thanks for the sub and kind words. Hope it works out for ya!
Nice content and vid as always!! Any idea on Magplar for update 33?
OMG Infodump of Doom! Thanks again for the amount of effort you putbin this Vids!
I am really torn with this hybridroad we now get....one Side...Cool! New Options! Will be fun! Other Side: WTF IS this Game become.....No Personality anymore with this soup of everything whatever blah. Really can't say at this Point how i actually feel 🤣 very Strange.
Is DK coming neeext?! 😍
Yeah I’m gonna do DK next I think unless I get an epiphany about something else lol
Jibbiiiieeeehh
Yo Skinny, love your content man. What are you thinking for Stamden? Droz still meta with carve/stampede? Or do you see a drop off there now with the changes to both skills?
Should still be great but the static won’t work the same now with diff durations
You should be able to run it with mag yes. I’m not sure how the stam sustain would be though it might need tweaking.
@@skinnycheeks aweosme! Thanks for the reply and the amazing work. Would be lost without these videos!
Thanks! I have a section in the vid for dummy pen. Only need 3212 pen for the dummy
You don’t know who you are song is fire did you make that I see it in your SoundCloud is it on Spotify?
No but you can download it for free on SoundCloud. And thanks!
Incredible song. Is that you singing?
@@lovejumanji5 thanks! yes it is
@@skinnycheeks that’s so sick! Dude I absolutely love it!!!! I’m very picky with music to. Man of many talents!!!
I lol'd at the Skeleton BFF
I realize you get the armor too so that has to be considered but…idk just didn’t feel great
Deadly cloak and barbed trap are hard on the Stamina.
Food with stam recov, pots with stam recov, or change skills if that doesn’t work out for ya
@@humblehoward yeah rune is a great option to swap that sustain up a bit for sure. and thank you!
first of all thanks for your amazing videos and about this update the trash rotation is different ?
@@benstephens187 Awesome! Thanks for the info!
Nice that’s awesome. And no it can’t crit. It is still okay dmg even without critting but kinda meh overall to me
if my flex are spammables does the skelly archer, dagger cloack and bear trap go away then? or do they also still need to be reaplied? it's a bit unclear for me..
Love your guides!!
thanks!
thanks for the explanation on the rotation its super helpful! If Im a khajiit what cp would i take and do i still wear kilt? Ive been seeing alot of khajiit not wearing kilt, and im so confused on what to put on my cat now D:
Great work!
Pure masterwork
Thanks for the amazing guide Skinny! Quick question but is Pestilent Colossus just better than Glacial? It's not magic damage but does deal higher raw damage and the stun from glacial usually does nothing against bosses
Yah pestilent is just better
You could do a slow tutorial on rotations i don't know how to follow this stuff im a visual learner...
Very well done video. :)
thanks!
Hi Skinny, thanks for the build guide! Would you consider making a Nightblade bow build? I think bows + NBs are a good fit, and with the new update there might be noteworthy spammables besides Lethal Arrow, which some of us can't stand :D
probably not tbh. bows are my least favorite weapon to use in the game :( I don't have fun testing stuff on them sry
Great content! If I don't have the perfected version of relequen, is it still BiS or is there a better setup in the interim?
it is only a line of stamina so like 1-1.2% difference if you are stacking stamina. if you are stacking magicka then the perfected bonus makes no difference in your damage
hi skinny is there a new guide in planing? its been 2 years and there are so many changes and buffs.
Thanks.
I’m not sure what you mean exactly. Can you message me on discord or something?
Hello very nice video ! Good job 👍 ! I have a question does the critical chance scale with the highest stat ( spell Crits or weapons Crit) ?
thank you. and yes it does
The problem is as magdps of necromancer I am not using class skill that much...
Two of them in the front bar and one in the back bar... Result My necro is suffering from an identity crisis...😢
Ugh, Relequen for a caster and I had hoped BM was nerfed out of the meta. Great job on the video, though.
Thanks 😊
I'm starting a magcro and this kind of content feel so helpful for a person who don't know much about the class, what will be the loss of dps using a breton instead of top races ?
Not much for stacking mag. Maybe 3-4% max. Maybe less. Depends on a lot of other stats really.
Great job!!!
There are people who have taken what I’ve presented here and performed better than me, so there is no joke to it at all.
where is one bar stamco video? i couldn't see which skills should we use in written guilde.
pls do dk and sorc guide
@@ogstretcher3755 no that is just so you don’t run away on accident with auto run lol
I have a question though: I saw in the ad before this video that the new Tide spray really does get all stains out super fast. Is that true, has anyone tried?
Thanks for guide. But waiting Nightblade and templar guide.
Hey just wondering what you think of Burning Spellweave. I don’t really keep up with the META but I’ve been told it was an excellent beginner’s set to use with Mother’s Sorrow. I see you didn’t list it on your other set options. Thanks!
I’ll have it on my aoe setup options. It is very nice for short burst stuff. I just don’t like it as much for longer boss encounters.
Incredible video.
Thanks!
Is a Left to Right rotation setup even possible…
Example:
(Square - LA - Triangle - LA - Circle - LA - L1 - LA - R1 - LA - “Bar Swap” - Repeat🔁). ??????
