Had insomnia for three years. Went to a sleep doctor who prescribed me 4 different sleep medications, non of them worked. Therapist I went to helped me to break down some baggage I was carrying. In addition, I started meditating which helped to address my baggage, stress, and thoughts about the day helped even more. I sleep well almost 90% of my nights now. Best advice is to analyze every source of stress from your life. I really do like Austin's take on not catastrophizing sleep. Every night before I go to bed, I tell myself "This is going to be a great sleep, and if I don't sleep the best, that's okay, because I will sleep well tomorrow."

This is a great example of Dunning Kruger v Imposter Syndrome.
Doctor's who know far more than the average person saying they hardly know anything on this subject.
They are not being modest either, the more you know about a subject the more you realise how much more there is to know.
Compare that to your average social media influencer who knows very little but is extremely confident in their answers.

One method to fall back to sleep is putting an ear bud in or a headband with earphones if you sleep with a partner. Cue up a 10-15 minute podcast or CZcams of something monotone like a lecture on astronomy or physics that you've already heard before so it doesn't get your mind engaged. When you wake up you can just tap play without opening your eyes and looking at light or a clock. This is personally helpful for acute insomnia and not professional advice.

It feels strange listening to this while I'm up out of bed due to insomnia.
