My father also flew against Ploesti (the Romanian Oil Fields) but he was fortunate to have returned to base. He survived the war and passed away in 1986. I am glad that they have ‘identified the remains’ and returned them home to their families...

When I see these pictures and the guy said hes 27 but he looks like he's 40 they had such a hard life of struggle and then they got sent there to a foreign land and killed in a horrible war it just breaks my heart and it's just terrible
Bourne National Cemetery is hallowed ground, I served in OIF with a SFC, have family and former neighbors interned there. I'm sending this to my brother in law who is the Chief of Police of Newton, Mass. He'll make sure he receives the escort the LT deserves.
I met a former WW2 pilot who bombed Standard Oil of New Jersey's Romanian refinery. It was a chance meeting. He laughed telling the story. He hired on years later with Exxon (Standard Oil of New Jersey).
Operation Tidal Wave was beset by multiple adversities, leading to major losses during the mission. May the Lord keep watch over you always, 1st Lt. Pizzella, & know you have the heartfelt gratitude of a grateful nation that mourns your loss. We will continue to pray for you & your family & carry both in our hearts in keeping with your valiant sacrifice. Godspeed & RIP always...🙏🏼 ✝️ 🇺🇲 ❤️

These men were very brave, they knew what the risks were and went anyway and made the ultimate sacrifice. Welcome home boys and RIP. My grandfather's buried at that cemetery. He was shot down during his 11th mission close to Bismark, Germany. He was a POW for almost 2 years. Luckily he made it home and died in 2013. Actually last week was the tenth anniversary of his passing. Its funny he was born and grew up within miles of Lt. Pezzella. Ill look for his grave next time i visit my grandfather, welcome home Lt. Pezzella.
This brings that rememberance of their service to all of us , we recognize your bravery , from that mission those many years as the wheels lifted off to home , RIP dear soldier .
I and many will remember what our men and women who served and sacrificed during WWII. If it wasn't for them standing up for America none of us today in America would be where we are at today. Our youth needs to know what they did.
