    Thanks for showing step by step how to do this. This is the clearest video on how to make this bench. Very helpful.

    I built 2 of these yesterday for 49$ If you build two you can actually do it for cheaper and only buy 7 boards because you will have leftover if you do the cuts right. Also alot of these tutorial videos overcomplicate it a bit. I learned if you wanted, really all you need is 30 degree cuts for the Long legs (that support the back) and then 40 degree angle cut for the shorter legs and then the angles match up and create a nice laid back bench. Super cool I just need to stain and finish my two benches now. I also didn't add the cut on the back of the legs because it didn't seem necessary to me looked great without it. Will most likely add some arm rest with the extra materials I have.

      Also if you are building these I think it took me roughly 2 hours for two of them, take your time on the cuts, the assembly portion is very easy as long as you don't rush through the first steps when you build the legs make sure the angles are right and both feet are making contact on the ground so it doesn't wobble. Even if you mess that step up though, just unscrew 4 screws and retry it, the way I tested the legs is by setting them on a flat surface standing up after screwing and if they stand on there own without falling over, you are golden.

    I just did the quick math and found a way to save anyone making this a bit more money. Buy 2 boards at 8’ then buy 1 board at 12’. No point In buying 4 more feet of wood then you need.

    I'm just learning but I've been using an alaskan mill to make dimmensioned lumber from my own logs. I find that 1inch to 1 1/4 inch thickness is way strong enough to build these sorts of outdoor furnishings. Thanks for the detailed guide. Even a lunk like me was able to follow along.

    I've built a few of these and the timber for each one cost US$126.00 and screws US$25.00 for 100 screws, not cheap here in New Zealand ... 🙂🙂🙂

    Stolen plans from rogue engineer. Give the man credit. Don't act like your doing anyone favors by copying.

      even if he is copying he explains everything not like those fast forward videos with no speech and who knows i think he does it better.

      how do you know he didn't buy the plans and just video himself building it, explaining what he's doing?

    • @paulaknit
      @paulaknit Před rokem +2

      He did a link to the video he watched and it was the Rogue Engineer. I'm so glad he made this video because I'm new at furniture building and I really liked his camera shots for the angles. It took me 2 days to make the 30 minute bench, because I was so confused on the angles. Thanks Noobin Texas from another Texan.

    • @ShakespeareCafe
      @ShakespeareCafe Před rokem +4

      Give credit to Aldo Leopold who first came up with the Leopold Bench which the rogue engineer and everyone else including myself copied off. Aldo Leopold is the famed naturalist who built this bench specifically to study nature and birds with. The simplicity is unmistakable.
