Not completely true......Minute mark 39.....I don't understand how Matthew 19 (except for fornication) is referring to the Jewish tradition of the betrothal period?
How can a man who leaves his bride (let's say for any reason) cause her to commit adultery, if they are not yet married. Isn't adultery the sin of married people?
If a virgin man changes his mind about marrying his virgin bride and ends the engagement....then she goes and gets married to another virgin man.... HOW IS SHE COMITTING ADULTERY?
The way I see it, Matthew 19:9 is most definitely talking about married people, not betrothed.
Otherwise, it would have to mean that virgins who break their engagement for any reason must remain single, and can no longer look for someone more fitting to marry.

There's also some pretty good evidence that in the 13th century, the rogue Pope Innocent III also promoted a form of "Pauline privilege" in connection with his introduction of the heresy that church leadership may declare "nullity" on the holy matrimony of a covenant union. Erasmus was likely influenced to some degree by this pontiff. We appreciate your series, Dr. Webb -- thanks for making the videos available.

"2 Some Pharisees came to test him. They asked, “Can a husband divorce his wife?”
3 Jesus answered them, “What command did Moses give you?”
4 They said, “Moses allowed a man to give his wife a written notice to divorce her.”
5 Jesus said to them, “He wrote this command for you **because you're heartless.
6 But God made them male and female in the beginning, at creation.
7 That's why a man will leave his father and mother and will remain united with his wife, 8 and the two will be one.
So they are no longer two but one.
9 Therefore, *don't let anyone separate* what God has joined together.”
10 When they were in a house, the disciples asked him about this.
11 He answered them, “Whoever divorces his wife and marries another woman is committing adultery.
12 If a wife divorces her husband and marries another man, she is committing adultery.”
    Mark 10:2-12 (GW)
So all must stop deceiving people into believing divorce & and adulterous remarriages are fine with God, they aren't.
"The unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived neither fornicators, nor idolaters,** nor adulterers** nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, 10 Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God".

The story of Jacob and Esau clarifies the difference between SIN and a COVENANT. Esau came in from the field, hungry and found his brother cooking. When He asked Jacob for some food, Jacob (supplanter=oppertunist) knew his brother dispiised his birthright- which allowed him to receive a double portion of his father's estate.
Knowing this, Jacob said:"Give me your birthright." Esau said, "You can have it!" Jacob replied: "NO, SWEAR TO ME I CAN HAVE IT!" Esau, flippetly and foolishly said, "I SWEAR YOU CAN HAVE IT."
That did it! The future geaneology of Israel changed from Abraham, Isaac and Esau, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob!
Later on in the book of Hebrews we hear Esau was "VAIN MAN AND GOD HATED HIM. It tells us "Esau was a vain man, and though he SOUGHT HIS BIRTHRIGHT WITH TEARS OF REPENTANCE, " Note: God forgave Esau for his flippency and stupidity, but HE DIDN'T CHANGE THE COVENANT. God will forgive ANY SIN truly repented of, BUT HE WON'T CHANGE THE TERMS OF A COVENANT! Don't CONFUSE THE DIFFERENCE! "It is better NEVER TO MAKE A VOW UNTO GOD, THAN TO MAKE IT AND BREAK IT.!

17:28 Mary would not have been stoned to death, because according to Moses, the man was permitted to give the woman a writing of divorcement to the unclean woman, and to send her out of his house; and she may become another man's wife. 🔎 DEUTERONOMY 24:1-2.

If I'm not mistaken you said in the second lesson that Mary and Josheph we married and it was a one flesh union before God even though the were only ( Betrothed ) . Now in this lesson your saying that Mary and Joseph were Betrothed but they haven't said their marriage vows yet implying that they weren't married yet even though you were saying in lesson 2 that they were married ? You say that a man and I woman cannot be one flesh during sex but in (1 Corinthians 6:16) paul says that if you unite with a prostitute you become 1 flesh with her for the two he says becomes one flesh but you say a 1 flesh union is when I man and a woman perform a ceremony and say vows to eachother and then God joins them together in 1 flesh but the bible never gives any reference to when God joins a man an a woman in 1 flesh . Also where are specific wedding vows in the bible ? Apart from Ezekiel 16:8 ? And when did Joseph say vows to mary ? When did Isasc say vows to Rabbeca and when did Jacob say wedding vows to vows to leah and Rachel. Also where in the bible does it say that Abraham said marital vows to Hagar ? Or to Sarah ?

Joseph thought Mary had committed fornication and was now "with child." This was when the Holy Spirit intervened and told Joseh to "Take unto you Mary, BECAUSE that which is in her is of the Holy Spirit. Then Joseph took unto him Mary, and KNEW HER NOT UNTIL JESUS WAS BORN."

I am telling you you are confusing sin with a covenant! In the O.T. the leaders of Israel were conversing with a group called "Gibbionites." They told Joshua thay had come from a far off country and had heard what a great leader Joshua was. Thay requested making a treaty with them of mutual protection. Joshua must have been flattered to think his reputation had preceeded him so far away, and agreed to the covenant.
Immediately after someone came into the tent and announced these men were not from a "far off country,' but were Gibbionited, who lived over the next hill. " Someone immediately sai" but they lied to us and deceived us." The prophet said, "It doesn't matter, we made a COVENANT with them. A DECEPTIVE COVENANT.
Do you suppose God egnored what they did?
Four hundred fifty years later there was a drought in the Land of Israel, for two years, when David was King. David cried out to the Lord, asking WHY THE DROUGHT. God answered by saying "It is because of SAUL." What did Saul Do? He killed some GIBBIONITES BY THE TEMPLE. Isreal forgot about the covenant, but God didn't!
To answer your question: I any two individuals who have never married before declare marriage vows before God, they have entered into a Divine Covenant, the TERMS OF WHICH IS UNTIL DEATH. Jesus said, in Luke 16:18 "Whosoever DIVORCES his wife, or DIVORCES HER HUSBAND, and marries another, COMMITS ADULTERY.
Jesus and Paul both said: "Don't be deceived, ADULTERERS SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD." wHY? BECAUSE GOD HATES DIVORCE! It destroys the type God declared to be an example to the world of the union of Christ and His Church and God the Father with His wife, Israel. May I encourage you kto go to You Tube and listen to my six DVD seminar, at no cost? Jesus said: "And you shall KNOW THE TRUTH, AND THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE."

So if I understand it correct that person can never remarry even though God doesn't want us to be unequally yoked. In John 3:16 Jesus said: "Whosoever believeth in him, should not perish, but have everlasting life." To whom does the word "whososever" in this verse apply? That word has universal applilcation; to anyone who will repent and receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of their lives. Study Luke 14:25-35 to understand what it really means to become a Christian. In Luke 16"18 Jesus uses this same word; "Whosoever." It too applies universally to everyone on the face of the earth, with no exciptions. "WHOSOEVER divorces his wife ( or divorces her husband) and marries another; COMMITS ADULTERY." Adultery is NOT marriage and marriage is NOT adultery.
Put this information with the scripture verses that say: "Be not deceived, ADULTERERS SHALL NOT INHERIT THE KINGDOM OF GOD."
"Heaven and earth shall pass away, but MY WORD shall NEVER PASS AWAY."
"MANY shall say unto me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in your name and in your name, cast out deamons and done MANY wonderful works? And then shall I profess unto them; DEPART FROM ME, ye that work LAWLESSNESS, FOR I NEVER KNEW YOU."
