Matt is such a master class musician and this band is criminally an afterthought in America. Such a class act, he barely even plucks his strings, completely deferring to the Edge, even though he is one of the greatest guitar players on the planet. With Rush sadly out of the picture, Muse is the greatest remaining power trio that exists in rock. They simply do not get enough credit.
Muse have regularly headlined festivals around the world, including Coachella, and sold out huge venues and the like, Glastonbury 3 times, possibly 4 times if rumours are true this year, Bellamy is credited as one of the greatest guitarists and vocalists around, I don't see what more you could want them to have tbh you're just being dramatic, and I say that as a mega fan
@@R_A120 they are very successful, but they are underappreciated and slightly unknown when you look at the mainstream music today. As Matt said few days ago, they are the biggest unknown band in the world
@@R_A120 I want them playing stadiums in America. It’s criminal Tay Shit and Coldplay have done that before Muse in America.
Their music is shit now
MUSE is from another Planet☆Matt is incredibel artist☆ Chris is the best on bass and very good singer☆Dom is the greatest drummer i have ever seen☆ i say= this is the greatest BAND we have since long time ->Matt is unbelivebale singer and best guitar player now, but piano also...
He is perfection in person!☆ the song is from U2 but Matt sing it better then Bono sorry Bono. 💜💚❤🩵🩷🧡💙💛🩷
I've been listening to this version for twelve years, and it still hasn't lost its magic. Revisiting it is like meeting an old friend again.
One of the most underrated bands in the world.
The best part of this video, is Muse is playing with one of their idols. You can tell it immediately. But music isn't a competition, and the best musicians know it. It's about collaborating with others to make memorable experiences. Edge clearly is thinking he's there to play with and support this group who asked him to play with them. SO MUCH RESPECT to both of them.
Truly magnificent
You’re totally right saying that music is not a competition. The only ones who think that way are musical critics (to make a living) and hysterical fans. They always make rankings and give some rates to artists. So they can exist :D
12 years later and this cover still slaps like the day it was laid down.
Amen, Muser.
Beautiful summation ❤️
I honestly think that Matt Bellamy is one of the best musicians the UK has ever produced
Truth.
No... he just has an AMAZING voice. Unfortunately, writing good songs is where MUSE lacks talent... such a waste of a beautiful voice!
@@GunnWrights you can say the music is not for you, but why try to bash on their skills?
@@GunnWrights they're goats at writing music tf are you talking about
Hard agree buddy
I love how you can hear Bono even in The Edge's voice..like Bono and Edge have a certain divine chemistry
+KKOPPI It's true! They have begun to sound very similar somehow. Matt sounded a lot like Bono as well...guess they're trying to do an impression?
+KKOPPI , True! Bono and The Edge do have similar voices. :)
+Vault 111 A word for word impression. Like a cover song.
Shaun Terry Well i know it's a cover. But it sounded like they changed their voices for the song.
+KKOPPI Jonny Marr also sings equal to Morrissey
I'm a die hard U2 fan, where the streets have no name I rank as one of U2's best songs ever and have seen in the past bands try and sing this song and I shake my head in disgust but this version, this is different, I get goosebumps when muse play this, what an awesome band and an awesome cover of the song...
Word.
They nailed it. And Muse is no joke, themselves.
Muse and edge nailed it. U2 croke park josh tour - that's the best version ive heard
30 STM did a great cover too
We nailed it too...
U2 is THE band of my childhood. Seeing The Edge perform with my all-time favourite band is just absolutely breathtaking, love everything about this!
Exactly the same 💯👍🤟
That is one of the great moments in B̶r̶i̶t̶i̶s̶h̶ Euopean Rock, right there. Sensational.
Edit: Euopean Rock is totally a thing and absolutely has as much of a ring as British Rock.
@@osmanylmaz8907 U.K rock then
Oh wait...
Irish/British
If you're Irish or Scottish and you went international or did something good you are automatically British
u2 aren't British you racist bastard
*European
Wow, Matt is just SO HAPPY to be playing this song. Like a kid who can't contain himself. So cool to see that joy.
Watch then playing 'Back In Black' with AC/DC's Brian Johnson. I've never seen a band having such a ball.
@@RolandDeschain1 Yep, at Reading 2017! Matt looked *elated*
@@RolandDeschain1both, Ac/dc and U2 both are influences to Muse
Wow! An incredible version! Matt sounds like a young Bono, and the energy at stage is amazing!
People need to know that when one band covers another bands song (Muse covering U2 in this case), it's not because they believe they can sing it better than the original. They just want to perform their own style of it.
Spot on
Or bring the song to a new audience
it's a hommage to the song and the band
They want to pay tribute to the song or band
@Alex Thorne naaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa you don't know how bono made in the years bono it's inimitable
I was front row for this. Seeing my two favourite bands collide was easily one of the best moments of my life!
I don’t know anyone else that can cover this song as good as this, phenomenal job!
Easy to be good to cover this song when you have the original guitarist doing it with you. Not really a cover.
30 Seconds to Mars did a really good cover also
i always forget that the Edge can sing pretty damn good. this is awesome!
This cover actually introduced me to Muse! I’m a life long U2 fan and I’m glad I found this video because now I’m a huge Muse fan!
I really love Matt's bright smile in the beginning when re realizes he is playing with a legend. He is so happy and proud. :))))
When Muse do covers for songs, you can really hear what Matt's voice is like, and it's amazing to listen to him. The way he uses his extraordinary voice for other songs created by other artists gives me chills. He really sang this well :)
+Azharuddin Mahenthiran I second that!
well said. Sir!
agree, he was perfect. I'm impressed, it's very hard to nail
U2 my favourite band for 35 years
I love Muse aswell I can see a lot of them in U2’s music, amazing how everybody slags there music but all wanna play and are influenced by them, great cover 😊👍🏻
i have to say, in this case i found this voice interpretation flat, along the whole song. no peaks, nothing of the epic tone he usually puts. he seems more focused on "respecting" this song.
but you're right, he adds value to every song he deals with
The Edge has always had such an effortless vocal range! I find myself revisiting this video every two months and still get chills.
A great rendition showing the edge as one of the most underrated guitarists of his era and man can that drummer play
Dom Howard is a great drummer! Check out their live versions of Assassin or Knights of Cydonia to see him really shine.
2 generations of fucking brilliant guitar geniuses meet on one stage:-)
Simply fucking brilliant!!!
I can't thing of too many songs that can lift a crowd up like this song. no matter who's playing it.
+bizmark D starlight - muse naturally and hey jude
Clearly u haven’t heard MY garage band try to cover this with me on vocals 😂
Can't Make This LOUD Enough!
+Shane Alexander me neither... :/
Same
Have u checked your volumes controls on your phone or Computer?
400 watt PA is always good. Hey you're neighbors might as well like it 😉
The Edge has to be one of the most underrated and electrifying guitarists ever....God bless him.
He's not underrated matt it is
Alfred Pennyworth ladies and gentleman Eric Clapton......😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
if anyone ever gets out of rhythm all they have to do is look at Wolstenholme's Metronome Head bobbing.
He's the living metronome! LoL
If you manage to lose the rhythm while playing this song, then I am surprised. Not in a good way by the way.
I always find that bobbing to be annoying and unappealing. Other then that, everything is superb
He is a crazy good bassist
Jahn Kaplank 😂 so true
If i had a time machine, that's where i would go back to, absolutely amazing 💯👌
I couldn't pick a better song for Muse to cover. This is so perfectly in the band's wheelhouse.
"Where the Streets Have No Name" is my favorite U2 song. It is an emancipating/uplifting feeling for my soul.
+plugg440 About 6 years ago, Larry Mullen Jr. was at Madison Square Garden as a spectator for a sports event. He gave a brief interview and the closing question was "what is your favorite U2 song?" He answered with a certainly in his voice that was quite noticeable "Oh, Where The Streets Have No Name." It's on youtube somewhere if you look for it.
It's one my top 3 favorite, especially since I saw Rattle & Hum--the live version at the Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, Arizona is just the BEST....... check it out if you haven't already! czcams.com/video/6yzojvZwzQo/video.html
Best cover I have heard so far.
I listen to this if I’m depressed and it puts me in such a better mood!
It's weird when you can recreate the energy of a single again. What a cover, what a collection of talent!
Mind you Matt is self taught virtuoso!! God damn!!
Matt's voice is PERFECTION!
Amazing version of a truly classic U2 song....Hats off to MUSE
Dang! 13 years ago. I stopped listening to U2 for many before. This is so good, it almost reignited my interest in the band.
Well done Muse
Soooo fucking good, even 8 years later, that subtle silent build up intro (with matts oooohs and edge on guitar) gives me chills and heavy nostalgia, god dammit I love MUSE so much.( And U2.)
Adaumis Gaming I come back to this video like once a month. One of my favorite live performances ever of one of the greatest songs ever written/composed
here's the lyrics if you feel like singing-a-long.😉
I wanna run
I want to hide I wanna tear down the walls That hold me inside I wanna reach out And touch the flame Where the streets have no name Ha...ha...ha... I want to feel Sunlight on my face I see the dust cloud disappear Without a trace I want to take shelter from the poison rain Where the streets have no name Ho...ha...
Where the streets have no name Where the streets have no name We're still building Then burning down love Burning down love And when I go there I go there with you It's all I can do
The city's aflood And our love turns to rust We're beaten and blown by the wind Trampled in dust I'll show you a place High on a desert plain Where the streets have no name
Where the streets have no name Where the streets have no name We're still building Then burning down love Burning down love And when I go there I go there with you It's all I can do
Our love turns to rust We're beaten and blown by the wind Blown by the wind Oh, and I see our love See our love turn to rust Oh, we're beaten and blown by the wind Blown by the wind Oh, when I go there I go there with you It's all I can do
This is from the Saturday night performance in 2010. U2 were due to play the Friday night but were forced to postpone due to Bono recovering from emergency back surgery.
It was a nice gesture given that U2 is a massive influence on Muse and The Edge on Matt. Muse also supported U2 on the North American leg of their 360 tour.
They opened gigs for U2 in South America too
@@saviolopes15 I was there. Buenos Aires. Muse opening for U2 was insane. As they were not as known in South America than they already were in Europe, I though they would have done a "not too agressive set", but then they arrived on stage and opened hard with Citizen Erased and gave the most brutal performance of the ~10 time I saw them live.
Wow. Muse is great. Edge is a legend. To have seen this live in Glastonbury 10 years ago would have been EPIC. Stumbling across this on CZcams today as I try to learn another U2 song on my guitar just made my day!
Wow he has an amazing voice... like opera...
+Stereotype23 like what? opera?? LOL, look up the definition of opera.
KKOPPI Couldnt find it... found a pickture of you under the definition of fucktard though
Stereotype23 you're a tosser.
Stereotype23 Moreover who would ever spell 'picture' like that, only retarded bellends (people, in case he corrects it, he wrote 'pickture').
KKOPPI 2015 called, it wants your comment back
Muse x The Edge... It can't get better anymore. I'm just so happy to see them playing together on the same stage...
Matt still has amazing vocals cant wait for the new album
Lol it's here
A year has gone so fast
+Bruno Feldberg and its fucking amazing!! :D
Kayla Abell haha yeah! Don't care for the last track though. "Drones" it is called. I thought they were gunna do like an epic send off but I guess they just did like compilation of Matt's beautiful voice
+Bruno Feldberg haha that's one of the songs I fall asleep too! ( sorry for the weird replies I have two channels! 😁😁) my favourite is probably Mercy
Man! That was the greatest cover of this song I've ever heard. And everyone on stage look so hyped! Goosebumps all over. Terrific!
Matt's voice is PERFECTION!
The Edge is awesome has been an inspiration to me.
love to see how the crowd didnt even use their phone to recorded it or something..they just enjoy the band, the stage, and the music..just, wonderful!
Even better than the real thing, magnificent.
Underrated comment
This is the best performance of this song ever done
I absolutely love this performance...you can see how everyone on stage was really enjoying themselves...the Edge is amazing as always...and Muse as well...love, love, love this!!!!!!!!
Amazing song and an amazing cover. I can't really put the finger on what is so special with it, it is 100% already from the intro. I guess I must have heard "where the streets" a thousand times but it is never worn out.
it is great because it is live.
This was my first ever Glastonbury and every now and again I come back to re watch this video and every time it takes me right back to that field and still gives me goosebumps!
I used to listen much in the elementary school student.
I Love U2 and I Love Muse
ItsStawny has completely missed the point. U2 were meant to be playing Glastonbury that year but pulled out as Bono had a back injury. Muse covered the song as a tribute
Well, in 2011 U2 did a much better set then if they'd played in 2010. More ZooTV, you know.
I believe Muse were standing in for what was supposed to be U2's slot, weren't they? So this really was the perfect tribute, and to have The Edge get involved, what a treat for Muse, the crowd, us, everybody
@@withmejimbo8262 Nah Muse were always one of the headliners. The replacement for U2 was Gorillaz.
One of a kind guitar identity, no other song sounds like where the streets have no name
one of my favorite song of U2 singing by my favorite band Muse. Awesome.
I always cry ❤️ THE EDGE + MUSE
One of the reasons why Muse doesn't suck, is that they combined Alternative Rock with many other styles (Classical, Electronic, Dubstep) and they handled it very, very nicely. I will forever admire them for being able to do that.
Look at 3:05 scene it's beautiful. In a concert, where you can meet A LOT of people, and even you can find the love of your life. It's amazing.
Gonzalo Lara his hat was clearly the centrepiece to that moment.
Peak Muse. Literally the 3-minute zenith of their career in terms of where they were creatively, culturally and in popular influence. Rare to see a single gig portray the high point of a band and an era of music so definitively. Special moment.
One of the most epic moments in music history
Regardless of what some people say. I think he sang this pretty well. I definitely felt it.
Agreed.
I'm right there with ya
F**king nailed it
Not only did he nail it, he sang the correct lyrics. Something Bono hasn’t done in years.
Mark Woods well played lol
I mean I'm a long longtime muse fan, die hard fan, I'd come after your family if you say drones album is bad, and nothing is better for me than good old b-sides and OoS, I mean this band is my life and soul and I measure everything else musically to them, except that I aways had one favorite song, a song I would call my own anthem, a song I would sell my soul for to listen to and that song was "where the streets have no name"... I guess this performance mean just the world for me.
Well thats awesome! I've listened to U2 from 1982 till the 90s and I am quite sure Edge feel honored and in good company with the wizards of music, Muse. I have lwanted to see them live for about 10 years now still no luck.
Gotta see them, they are absolutely stunning on stage. Seen them twice. One was at the large venue in Paris 80,000 or so people, resistance tour. setlist of 22 songs, it was pure marvel. And one last november in Portland with Drones tour, it was an epic show, I mean staged very very well. Only thing thats bummer for me is that I love very much their old stuff and b-sides which get ousted from the very staged tours sometimes, so I want to see them on some festival too :)
Best of luck, amazing evening is awaiting you when you attend their live
gei yersel peace ya tube
I totally agree with you! I'm a huge Muse and U2 fan. Next week going to see Muse for the third time. I have seen U2 once last year in Amsterdam. I think this version of Where The Streets Have No Name is incredibly awesome ❤️
thriversoffset drones is a shit album
Being on stage and looking at the crowd has to be one of the greatest feelings
Fantastic cover from a truly great band
The Edge is awesome has been an inspiration to me.
That was amazing. I love how Muse is so heavy, but isn't afraid to love things that others hate on.
Muse are heavy?
***** Unintended is such a heavy song.
Michael Gaffney He didn't say all of the first 3 albums, but they are in general heavy. Or they used to be.
Rishabh Sawhney
Used to be until they got bore of it. Now girls come to their shows. Heck, now everyone comes to their shows.
thescowlingschnauzer Urm girls have been going to their shows since the beginning.. but yeah they wanted to try new things and thus abandoned their amazing former selves to appeal to a wider audience. Chris actually admitted that they sold their souls.
I listen to Muse maybe once or twice a month. But every time I go "Godfuckendammit, he is such an amazing vocalist!"
I listen to muse thousand times a day. And it's still not enough
❤️❤️❤️ yes!!!
@@araleker much better than Bono !
@@yvesdesbois8865 lol
This song is beautiful. So are With or Without You and I Still Haven't Found What I'm looking for. But this is honestly the best version of Streets I've heard. Muse is my favorite band by far, And U2 is easily a top 3 pick. And a combination is just mind-blowing.
+Timothy Morris But Pink Floyd is your picture
Vault 111
My opinions have changed since, but Muse is still my favorite band and Floyd is 5th.
Timothy Morris I have similar tastes to you it seems. REM is my first, and it fluctuates but Muse, Radiohead, and Pink Floyd are always in my top 10.
check out U2 @ Slane. that or any Joshua Tree Tour opener with the red silhouettes.
Update: It's now been four years since I made this comment and I'm 16 now. This is the best cover version of Where the Streets Have No Name I've ever heard. My favorites are Zoo TV: Live in Sidney and Elevation 2001: Live in Boston. I do still think that Streets is U2's best song even after listening to their full discography. It's truly a special moment is music.
The Edge e Muse ... Fantastico binomio .... Interpretazione bellissima
I wonder how Matt was feeling in that momment, have this pleasure, play beside The Edge such a great song.... THANK YOU
You wonder? it's written all over his face when the song starts. He is living the fanboy dream! This is not a tribute nor a cover. This is a kids dream coming true right before our eyes.
Ooooh great quarantine find! I
that was damn good
Just speechless at what these guys have done... Excellent work U2, Muse and The Edge
Bellamy is talent personified.
The absolute best rendition EVER!!!! F***ing love Muse!!
This is honestly amazing.
I swear every time Muse play Glasto they have the best set of the whole festival.
The only band where I like covers :)
lol prick
23 years after the release of this song and The Edge looks pretty darned good. :)
Train Monrovia And still sounds good too. He hits a lot of high notes that Bono now can't.
It's been 30. Well 31 now. Became a number 1 song in 87.
That was magical
It really was! I love coming back to this gem. I wish there was an official release.
True musical talents when combined... never loose their individual credibility ...instead they bring musical harmony to higher levels , thoroughly enjoyable- coupled with increased feelings of nostalgia.
Well sung by Matt , Edge is really enjoying himself here and Dallas edge's guitar tech right at the end.
After 10 years i still cry when i see this. U2 and Muse for me was like a dream. Matt looks so happy.
Profoundly spiritual song, in that it moves the spirit.
Matt's Vocal is incredible, Dom's drums are tight and precise, the bass line isn't particularly difficult but you know Chris will always play it perfectly, And the Edge is just phenomenal as always. A perfect cover and such a selfless gesture by Muse, True musicians of our generation, Respect.
I'm sure Chris was happy to have a break from playing stuff like Hysteria lol
I always thought this song would be a perfect fit for Muse so this really completes my world. It's got *everything* - the Edge's guitartwangles, Matt tearing into it with his heart and soul, and just pure tightness from Dom & Chris keeping everything nailed down for the frontmen to skate over top. And what incredible energy from everyone here!
Ahhh the good old days ....
Muse is the best cover band ever.
4:40 Thats right boy .....the backing singer of U2 is a powerfull singer too
October 2019 .. always love watching this collab ...
That guitar fift....unforgettable!!
Yep. Incredible.
People have to understand that most covers aren't suppose to be better than the original. Bands like muse made a cover for this song because of their passion for music and this amazing song
I am HUGE u2 fan, even been backstage with them once, and iv'e been a fan since the early days, but i don't hero worship them or anyone else, i just appreciate them. it's great though when i see them working with other people, and this was really well done, they nailed one of my fav tracks and as a result of this i now like Muse as well so thanks guys and well done the edge in slowing it down a bit to make it all come together at the begining
Goosebumps
Mu2e= Perfection
That laugh at 3.48.... every time 😍
Due fra le migliori band contemporanee! La canzone era perfetta per Bellamy, è uscito un capolavoro!
How tf does matts voice fit so perfectly?!
So addicted when the intro ....began
These two bands should tour together once more.
