Speech by Philippine General Emilio Aguinaldo, 1929 (Colorized)

  • 11 February 1929 - El Presidente who, at first viewing, appeared to be delivering a speech to an audience. It turns out that he was in fact recording his speech which topic seems to be about “moving figures” that “emits voices”. Aguinaldo was probably describing the television (TV).
    [SPEECH TRANSLATED IN ENGLISH]
You ask me two words, but I will share some ideas of mine about inventions.
The equipment that you operate is wonderful because it reproduces moving figures at the same time that it emits voices. When this invention is perfected over time, the world will be taken aback by the moving and talking pictures which these equipments will exhibit.
Science has increased the accelerated pace of modern advances. Through science, we are able to conserve our health and could even retain youth to those who have aged. But science has also promoted inventions that are aimed at the destruction of man by fellowman. These two contrary tendencies still tell us that the amount of brutality within us is very great.
When could science perfect devices that can reform and improve men? When will our humanity be able to say that it is already on the path of moral perfection with regards the fraternity of all men, of all peoples, of all races, and of all creeds?
When that day arrives, we will have erased all borders, destroyed all warlike devices. And we will only admire an invention, an apparatus, the most wonderful, one that has brought peace and harmony among all men throughout the world.

Antonio did not receive much victories (from historical accounts not from movies it was a total of ZERO victories) and Bonifacio did get some cool victories but not much while Aguinaldo was taking on the Americans and Antonio couldn't put his guerrilla plan into action because we didn't have the manpower yet, we remember Antonio and Bonifacio as heroes because Antonio was one of the first to retaliate against the Americans but Bonifacio as hailed was a hero for forming the KKK but Aguinaldo doesn't get much credit while yes Aguinaldo did plan the assassination Bonifacio he still did much to this country to shape the Beautiful country we call the Philippines so i feel like we should give him you know some credit like a move mkay

Aguinaldo didn't choose to kill Bonifacio brothers, he was forced to kill them because the other generals said so. Aguinaldo's real plan for the Bonifacios was to exile them to Pico de Loro(in Batangas). The reason was they planned to kill Aguinaldo because they were too salty when Aguinaldo won in Tejeros Convention. Luna on the other hand, I'm sure Aguinaldo actually planned to assassinate him because of the grudge Felipe Buencamino had on him which led to Buencamino telling Aguinaldo bad things about Luna. Which eventually made Aguinaldo kill Luna indefinitely.

I only appreciate the fact that he's part of the time when Jose Rizal and Gat Andres Bonifacio were alive and fighting heroicly for our country. (not to mention the others like the Silangan couples, Luna, etc.) Yes it was 'cool' to hear and speak a language other than your own, or being bilingual. But don't forget Philippines itself is an archipelago made up of thousands of islands with diversed cultures and ethnicities, which explains the over a hundred languages spoken(however similar or different), so we pinoys are basically already multilinguals XD. I personally think introducing the spanish language as a special lesson at schools would be great for only those who are truly insterested

HE IS A HERO! That is high treason against the state. Let's not forget also that Bonifacio's repeated undermining of the Tejeros government and refusal to work for the unifying Magdalo and Magdiwang drastically weakened the Filipino revolutionary resistance in Cavite and led to the fall of Cavite and all of Southern Tagalog. Let's also not forget that it was the Magdiwang that reported his abusive threats against a Magdiwang town - Indang - but also the top Magdiwang leadership that not only refused to try and rescue Bonifacio but dissuaded others from trying to do so. Kahit yung mismong mga tao ni Miong na sina Mariano Noriel at Pio del Pilar ay bumaliktad kay Aguinaldo by siding with Bonifacio in the Naic Military Pact/KUDETA and the Alvarez clan who had invited Bonifacio, supported Bonifacio at Tejeros and joined in the Naic Military Pact/KUDETA were close at loyal kay Miong. Unnecessary or not man ang pagpatay sa kanya, Bonifacio was held responsible for the collapse of the most successful revolutionary movement in the First Phase of the Revolution and he was treated accordingly. Gen. Antonio Luna was verifiably planning a KUDETA against the Philippine government - just like Andres Bonifacio - and since it was wartime, this is also High Treason in the Face of the Enemy. That being said, Luna was murdered by the presidential guards because he was an abusive sociopath that had repeatedly harassed and abused them and their families. The presidential guards - and Aguinaldo for that matter - were experienced veterans of the 1896-1897 Revolution. Antonio Luna was not. He was a pretentious hobbyist with zero combat leadership experience that slapped his soldiers and threatened them with execution, despite having NO actual command experience. After a while, real soldiers get tired of an arrogant inexperienced brute taking his insecurities out on them - so they FRAGGED him. Hinding-hindi ako magsasawang i-copy paste eto at mga libro ni Ambeth Ocampo ang isa sa mga sources ko. Isa lang naman siya sa mga pinaka-legit na historian dito sa bansa. Anyone who has contributed so much for the struggle for Philippine Independence, whether it be Bonifacio, some other handful of people not mentioned, or even Aguinaldo regardless, IS A HERO.

What if Aguinaldo killed Luna for the gold they took from the treasury which he brought to Ysidra Cojuangco which after Luna's death Cojuangcos bought the land became Hacienda Luisita and so on as well as Abs Cbn and Meralco its now Cojuangco Lopez Aquinos.. Do Filipinos know their real History? Maybe Luna took it for a reason but that gold would have made the first republic rich and now only Those who had it became super rich.. and see you still pay for high price electricity when Aquino shut down the nuclear power plant and sold the then government owned Meralco ... Filipinos were fooled by Abs Cbn for decades which was a well planned cover up and brainwashing tool..
