I had to turn it off for licence A-9 NSX type R at Suzuka Hairpin. Couldn't achieve gold with it on. I've never switched it back on since
@Ian Jamieson I'm on a pad and quicker with it off. Just doing some testing now to see how it pans out
To be fair, I'd be comfortable with PD disabling CSA in sport mode generally, but defo in A/A+ lobbies.

@@JeffWeselyan I'm on controller too - ABS and Traction Control are one thing, and part of real world racing, but imo Counter Steer Assist is a step too far. It wouldn't worry me if it were available for D, C, and B lobbies, maybe even A only lobbies. I 100% feel that at A/A+ level you really ought to be able to control the car without it.
Thanks for pointing this out , don’t understand people using it tbh , what’s the point in playing a sim racing game and using all these things to make it easier, surely not the point of the game ?, learns the cars and tracks and play the game properly, you will get far more out of it long term, Im looking for a nice online group too I hate playing random online I’m a very clean racer just want some nice races without being barged off.

This and TC are just tools that available, up to anyone to use them if that make them faster. Like why under pouring rain, youtubers prefer sliding around the track rather than putting TC on??? Let’s not be snobs about them…
It needs to be disabled during sports mode and events if it gives an advantage.

I feel like the counter steering makes it harder for people with a sim setup. When I had it on, I was constantly fighting turns because it seemed to try and make so many little adjustments. When I turned it off, it felt way better

It should be banned in sport mode in all lobby's drA and above, I saved a reply to see how someone got so far ahead to see if I could implement some of hes driving techniques and low and behold he was using CSA.

I dont now how it is whitout it.
But I love it.
any assists besides ABS and TC should be disabled in sport mode, (I wish TC was more realistic, and I don't use it unless rain comes on slick tires)
For some reason in some vehicles with the CSA on strong it violently locks the steering when turning but when i turn it off or on weak it doesn't meanwhile on strong with other vehicles it works like a dream.
Is it possible its changing the force feedback on the wheel to make it easier to feel the limit of the car? If that were the case it might make it more realistic with it on?

I have the GT Omega Titan and couldn't be happier! Included instructions for assembly would have made it perfect.

I have absolutely no clue to what settings or upgrades like tires do as I'm very new and never really even tried racing games until recently, and only got my first set up after seeing the PSVR2 Gran Turismo 7, most of what I'm learning is coming from watching these videos here
Well its an assist which makes you faster unlike tcs which is easier but slower. So everyone should use csa and it is fair then
So what are the downsides of it?
i did but understeer felt like death i couldn’t turn at all but oversteer is fine (let me know about the understeer thing)
I dont use the Countersteering assist but im gonna try to see if it makes a difference

Try it on weak settings, makes the force feedback change and you kind of feel the details more such as the rear end going ice skating.
I didn't know that this was a option. Will have to test it out.
I tried it in the actual time trial challenge with the Radical. Car behaviour is very much calmer on the curbs, but I feel it doesn't react as quickly and precisely as without the aid. Didn't get quicker times in the end.

@@Kireth sure, but I gave it a fair try. Times were more consistent of course, but well some tenths off (optimum lap). I may use it in the future for shirt cars maybe, such as the Alfa 4c I can imagine that can help a lot.
I dont use any assist's, i understand ppl needing them tho, especially if newer to GT series. Now, do i like racing ppl who use em, no. I wish PD would make it so you cant use assists once you reach a certain ranking (B?) as i personally think it causes ppl to be slower and more of a hazard on track. Just my thoughts on it.

I don't use it and quite frankly it ruins the game as it's perfectly implemented.
Particularly because it enables people who don't belong in the higher tier lobbies to ram with impunity.
Leave assists in Arcade mode and for tutorial reasons. Sport mode shouldn't allow it above the B lobby.
In the B race groups, it’s a must due to the constant ramming. It helps keep you stay on track and recover quickly
I prefer this to the game becoming more arcade than it is. It works for all of us. People who play casual appreciate this and those of us who play competitive disable these options in lobbies.
Isn't the whole idea of an auto assist to make the game easier for players?
You're looking at it from an experienced player's point of view, but there are still players out there who've never touched the game.

I don't use any assists. Not even TC. I wonder if this makes it harder for me to maintain a decent rank? Am I putting myself at a disadvantage?

It SOUNDS LIKE they are using the same functions with radio control airplanes. It fights over steering.
If you look on the TRANSMITTER that controls the plane, you will see LEVER BUTTONS on the TOP and SIDE of each CONTROLLER STICK. It adjusts how much pressure is needed to move that stick before turns are made & and adjustments to the speed.
I FEEL that this is okay because I am willing to bet that regular race cars do it to….it would prevents accidents, and doesn’t really take away from a driver’s skill if everyone uses it.
The problem is, that it seems like they won’t let you do it independently for front and back….though I think you can do that from the wheels and controllers for the game.

What it really does is enhancing your wheel input, so you have to turn the wheel less when you counter steer. But you still have to do it. I honestly don’t see it as bad. if I mess up a corner I still go to the wall.
With cheap wheels so less feed back force is acceptable to my point of view.
Should I use Counter Steering Assist for S-10 license? I play with controller and did all my licenses with CSA off, but I am finding S-10 really hard.

its a must on gt. cause gt has that snap problem and this is the only thing helping you to controll the car when it snaps.

OP fo sho. But I guess balanced out for the ones that just getting on the wheel and can have fun because during their own development in driving or drifting in the game with counter steering on will still satisfy them to play the game and maybe eventually the assist off will come. Own preference i suppose. Cause I tried it and ye me did no likie haha. So ye assist off for me all the way💪🏾. And a new sub bless 🍃💪🏾
I always use it against A.I. except at Tokyo, where, for super fast times all assists must be off 😁

It's really bad when assists make faster. They should be there to help novice players get used to the game but it should always be the slower option in my opinion.

If the car has A LOT of oversteer issues , CSA is going to make even the top players faster.
ASM works very similar to this making understeery cars corner better. And since 1.31 was "the Understeer -patch" , many cars can benefit from ASM now.
Blue Moon Bay tri-oval Circuit Experience is a good example of a FR Gr.3 car being faster with ASM on than off. (just ignore the top5/6 times on leaderboard that are obvious wallriders)

I've only really started playing it properly online etc. Used to just take wheel out for odd lap round the ring. I dont even use T/C. I'd rather learn the hard way so don't have to use aids

I feel like cs assist, much like TCS, is a big waste if you're on rig. Why spend hundreds if not thousands on a rig to have autopilot steering and be able to just slam 100% throttle out of corners for free. For pad players this probably helps a lot. But with rig. You're paying to get immersed in the game and feel the intricacies of each car. Muting that with all these assists seems absurd to me. Not in some elitist way, just in the sense of, this is what you paid for lol.
Sport mode should be no assists, and wheel only.
Yes... and while we're at it Sport mode should only be for people who have VR2, also you need a drivers license, a suit and helmet to wear pre race, If you don't have any of these then you shouldn't be in Sport mode even if you have a wheel...
Don't be a wheel elitist, Controllers allow access to the game for thousands if not millions of people, it also allows people with disabilities to compete and feel included in a community.

go back to off and run again, because you could simply had learned the path, improved after some rounds. The if your time got worst, would be proved.

@@Bushwackerinpa Exactly! I tested this myself with one of the Porsche cars on the weak settings and it feels more realistic on the steering wheel (the force feedback changes and I can feel when the rear is about to go ice skating)

I was in a B lobby and 80% had it on. I've never used it, not sure I want to. Would rather be as good as I can be without assists.

I find the opposite to be true. I'm faster without counter steering and car handling is better
I'm sick of this fucking game limiting my steering inputs.. I drive with all assists off and yet it will limit how far I can turn my steering wheel in corners... its bullshit
I hate this. To me, these things are for people with disabilities. Removing and reducing them makes the game harder for people who actually need the help to complete challenges and win races. I don't play multiplayer, but I also can only play for maybe 30min tops with no assists on before my brain needs a nap. If I have assists on, I am able to race and play longer. So, is it overpowered for you to use? Maybe, but I need it to function, and even with it, I still would struggle sometimes to win, or complete challenges.
The game is on rails anyway, just take assists out.
