- Watercolor pencil can enhance your watercolor paintings with some extra detail and texture. In this video I use a small amount of Derwent's Graphitint water soluble coloured pencils to add some detail and texture to a beach scene.

Thanks for this beautiful tutorial. It’s so valuable for me as a beginner watercolorist to see professional painters work real-time in order to better understand timing and how long you can actually work with an area before you need to leave it to dry. The way you describe your thought process while you paint is very helpful. I hope you feel better soon ❤️
Wonderful artist and teacher to boot, what’s not to like!
Aaaw thank you KG. 💕
to answer your question, the coloring book technique? :)
I would love to see a video of your work with only the graphitint pencils. I own the same set and could absolutely use some of your instruction! Looking forward to the next video. Your work is much appreciated.
I absolutely adore this ladies style and her finished art is so good to look at
Even though we live on different continents, that plant you found was either sea grape or something that has the same ecological niche as sea grape in North America! I feel the heat of the day seeing those stark shadows, the muted green of the leaves, and that little yellow one that has dropped from the plant. Such a lovely composition. Your detail work is amazing.
Beautiful outcome. Glad you're feeling a bit better. Hope you're back to 100% very soon
I hope you will get better soon, thank you so much Louise for your videos ❤️
Thank you David.
Awesome painting - love the colours. Interesting how the graphitint pencils enhanced the painting and allowed you to add more detail (once a detail person, always a detail person) :)
Wow, very lovely. I love the leaf shapes-how they are a little abstracted but still very recognizable and real. And I especially love the shadows. It’s cool that you found something in your daily life to paint. I’m working on the same thing too. Cheers.
Hi Louise, 👌 I also ordered this 2 weeks ago because I have had the graphite watercolor for a few years now. Now I can combine both 😁💐
Lovely work Louise - such a pleasure to watch the painting evolve. I am inspired to dig out my Graphitints which have been shut in a drawer for too long! I do hope you feel better soon x
I am looking forward to all of your videos. Each one teaches so much plus being beautiful. Thank you for sharing your understanding and talent in watercolor.
Hope you feel better soon!
Love it!! 🍂🌿
Love it looks great as always 👏👏
Это удовольствие,такая аккуратная работа,столько стараний и осторожных усилий,хочется чтобы во всей работе и у себя и других увидеть это.Большое спасибо!
Such a pleasure, as always, to watch your painting(s) come to life - thanks so much for sharing your wonderful talent and experience with us, Louise. I started watching the video without sound and was concerned that you looked as if you were in need of sleep (!) but then when you mentioned the bronchitis that explained it...sort of! Please take care of yourself, your health is more important than your self-imposed deadlines to continue working on a regular schedule of videos! 💜💜💛💛💚💚
Such a generous clever lady who makes us feel we can too.
Thank you Louise ❤
Those leaves look great 😀 full of light
Such a beautiful video-well done Louise.
Gorgeous ❤
I love your work❤
Wonderful! Love how the pencils added textures!
Thanks Monique.
Beautiful creation. I love how you explain each step.
Thank you, this is wonderful ❤
It looks great. Thanks for your demonstration.
Beautiful painting! I like the definition and texture the pencils provided. The texture of that soft press paper is gorgeous.
Marvelous 🎉😊
I love this! I also love graphitint pencils for impressionistic and abstract paintings 🤗💗💗💗
Awesome. Thanks for sharing that process. Will give this one a go! Love the blooper at the end. 😂
Lovely painting

Thanks so much Lynn. You are very kind. ❤️😊
Thank you Louise for the lovely painting/water colour pencils, what a great combination and a lovely topic xx I hope you will soon feel better xx

I love the inktense pencils from Derwent. I put the pencils on my wish list as they are not available right now. Love to watch and learn from you! Thank you so much!❤
I loved this! You are so talented! Take care of that voice!
Beautiful as always
Thank you Carol 😊
Could you do a segment of your WC palette; the hues you use? Pardon me if you have done that before. Feel well soon.
This is beautiful, Louise! I really like the addition of the pencils! This is an interesting subject. The colors are so stunning. Once again, another winner!♥️
Thanks very much Susan.
❤️❤️❤️... Beautiful painting and the paper has a great texture

Wow, wow, Louise, what an interesting painting! You are so inspiring on how to use different medium in a painting and make it look so real. I love your painting and the colour are awesome! ❤ Helene
Your poor voice! Love those Graphitint Pencils. I just got mine out for Autumn. Your bloopers always make me giggle. “Thanks for watching.” 🤭
Thanks for using colored pencil with watercolor. I’m anxious to combine them both ! The leaves were so alive and I’m sure it’s because if the added pencil work. I learn so much watching you create. Happy Fall, Karen D
You are welcome. Thank you Karen.
I love your style Louise! Especially the use of your Shadow work. I hope you're feeling better? Do these pencils dissolve easily? What's the main difference between these and regular watercolor pencils please? Sorry for all the questions
I absolutely love this painting, and I look forward to the full tutorial in Patreon. I hope you'll be fully recovered soon, Louise. 🏵
Thank you very much Yolanda.
Dear Louise, your videos are so lovely and your teaching is so pleasent. Thank you for your wonderful art.Hopefully you will get better soon...all my best wishes from Vienna🎡--Austria
Thank you so much Tab.
Great video ... thank you.
Glad you liked it. Thanks Rod.
Better than embossers!
What brushes do you use? If I may ask. I just love watching you paint and am learning so much. Thank you!
Lovely painting, Louise! 😍 - As far as the pencils are concerned, I am not sure the colour is lightfast - especially after wetting and diluting the "tint" part (graphite typically is, of course). Perhaps it would be a great idea to test some swatches in the upcoming Australian summer instead of relying on the manufacturer's rating.
Dear Louise, hope you feel better very very soon.
Thank you Jean.
This was so interesting to watch. I like the subtle colour of the graphitint pencils, they are like the melancholy cousin of watercolour pencils. I think the mixed media path could be a really interesting thing for you to explore. I very much look forward to a work made entirely with graphitint pencils. Would you continue using the soft press paper for that or do you think you would go hot press?
Thank you! I'm not sure. Maybe hot press. I have quite a few sheets of it and I could use some of it up with drawings.
This video was very helpful. Will use my Derwent watercolor pencils more for those fine details and will look into the graphitint pencils. They are currently unavailable on Amazon in the US with this link but are available if I search directly.
Hello Louise! What a wonderful and fresh beachy leaf painting. My watercolour pencils are from Faber-Castell and it's a lot of fun, but for me as a beginner not so easy to use them. So thanks for your introduction ❤
I have another question. The palette you use in this video, is it made of ceramic/porcelain or plastic? It looks good and smart to use, is it? Where can I buy it, I am from Germany.
Best regards, Susanne
Beautiful work and fascinating subject. Louise do you draw the picture freehand or do you print and trace this?
This is a great tutorial. For one thing you show how wonderful subjects to paint are literally all around us if we can learn to see them. Second, I like the use of the pencils to add details and precise coloration. Although you could have used watercolor, as you said, you did not have to worry about accidently disturbing the previous layers and it was quicker. The use of the pencil to suggest sand was very effective - did you practice that on a scrap first or just take a chance on it?
Thanks very much Don. I didn't try it on a scrap piece of paper first. I probably should have but I figured if I do it lightly enough I'd be able to remove it with an eraser.
Lovely piece. Feel better! I’ve heard those who use their voices professionally eat an apple prior, particularly a Granny Smith or other tart.
Thank you Rosa. 💕
This is very beautiful pcture, one of my favorites from you. May i ask, what sharpener you use, looks very good?
Thanks Marjorie. It's a Mitsubishi KH-20 sharpener. I love it.
Recently I did a flower paintingin that I did flower first ...then used wax resist over flower.... then did background easily...so I realized no need for negative painting in any painting.whats your opinion?
Might you be related to the Monaco de masis?
Do you have a Pelican painting?
Yes I do Lynn. I have one here on CZcams czcams.com/video/Cg0VmIH7ZdE/video.html - the full version of the tutorial is on my Patreon site.
90% of watercolor is being able to draw.
Hi Louise, 👌 I also ordered this 2 weeks ago because I have had the graphite watercolor for a few years now. Now I can combine both 😁💐
Wonderful! I hope you enjoy using them. Thanks Marleen.
