After seeing that exploding cage... AEW should have hired WSX's Pyro team.
Wow. This is like Old ECW and TNA merged with Michael Bay while on Speed.
Undertaker: Oh God No I Can't Even Fathom Why Someone Would Think That This Had To Be A Good Idea
I've done all of the above, and even then the experience pales in comparison.
You'd need to do blend all of the above with PCP and Red Bull and inject to even come close to the hi-octane promotion that begins NOT with a whimper, but with a BAAA-AAAA-AAA-AAANG!!1!
AEW is just like WSX. It sucks just as hard.
Kino
That is a fantastic analogy.
Wrestling Society X should have been called "What My Mom Thinks Happens in an Extreme Rule Match."
Pitbull: “I’m a big wrestling fan”
*10 seconds later*
Pitbull: “I don’t know what’s going on”
Ryan Johansson
I don’t blame him. This stuff was Micheal Bay plus Vince Russo on Speed
In fairness I’m a big wrestling fan and I don’t know what’s going on.
@@dumbname939 same here I don't know whatz going on buddy
Pitbull seems like the kind of fan that watched back in the 90's but only was ever interested in the insane Hardy Boyz high spots and paid no interest to everything else
@@FraserSouris stolen but still hilarious
Wrestling Society X: The result of Michael Bay and Vince Russo smoking crack together one night
Lmao ikr
*With Jim Cornette’s voice...
Listen bro we could add effects and noises.
@Philip Tucker Shit, let’s hope it was only once.
Where is Linkin Park?
With all those explosions, you'd think Michael Bay had started his own wrestling promotion.
He still might.
Don't give him ideas lol
Oh hell yeah I can't wait for Michael Bates is started and wrestling promotion and call it MBWP
(Michael Bay Wrestling Productions)
He did give Kurt Angle a cameo in Pain & Gain
Evan Bourne, X-Pac, Vampiro, and Seth Rollins, I recognized. Anyone else?
I recognized Youth Suicide from the Backyard Wrestling Documentary.
Never heard of them.
Jack Evans from ROH, Mesias from AAA ( going by Ricky Banderas) Teddy Hart would go on to OVW than I guess he was kind of a headcase and ended up in AAA.
I picked out Jack Evans, Jimmie Jacobs and New Jack. Justin Credible was there too. That was during a time when he and Xpac were joined at the fucking hip.
that big dude with the orange pants.
isnt that Jesus, Carlito's lackey?
The WWE World Heavyweight Champion made his network debut on Michael Bay's CZW. This is an odd world we have.
Better product than wwe thats for sure
@@Gawdzillest Spot fests with no psychology or a storyline and crappy special effects is a better product than WWE? I don't think so.
@@Gawdzillest better product 🤣🤣
@@BobbyJr_ "spot fests with no psychology or a storyline and crappy special effects"
But enough about current WWE.
"Looks like they're making a statement
THAT IS A DEAD FISH!"
+p00patr00pa That line was amazing.
Alex Constantine It is the best line
Pitbull: "I dunno wuz goin on buddy"
Him and I both.
Yeah same here
hold on was that Seth Rollins on that show?
ismfofisawesome3 yep, this must have been just about the start of his partnership with jimmy jacobs which continued very successfully in roh of course
BigMonkeyOnAStick Hold up, Jimmy Jacobs??? Is he like the Vince McMahon of RoH???
kenterminatedbygoogle works for vince mcmahon now
BigMonkeyOnAStick
Who is Jimmy Jacobs????
Jimmy Jacobs was a wrestler who never got to hold the ROH World Championship, but did start a lot of heel factions (such as the Age of the Fall, which included Tyler Black, better known as Seth Rollins). He was an amazing promo cutter. Now, hes signed to WWE as part of the creative team.
The greatest thing about WSX was that it gave light to a lot of guys that are pretty big now. Looking back on the shown I notice guys like Jimmy Jacobs, Seth Rollins, Joey Ryan, Colt Cabana and much more that I didn't notice as a kid. No one really took serious but in my eyes I always thought that it was just really fun to watch.
Remember boys & girls, "she's a stunt granny."
travelling with the boys, getting her own hotel, each night she puts her pads on and take bump for the sake of heel heat!
The show gave us the first major TV exposure to Seth Rollins and Evan Bourne. For that, I'm thankful, besides that, yeah WSX was just awkward to try to sit through.
@Gene Bone I have to disagree with Teddy being the only talented one.. when you consider they had guys like Jack Evans, Puma (aka TJP), and Ruckus just to name a few.
After watching RAW Underground, I was somehow reminded of this show.
Bought the whole series on DVD. Enjoyed it. Regret NOTHING.
Wrestling Without Wregret
You can buy it on DVD?! 😊
Jimmy Jacobs, Tyler Black(Seth Rollins), Matt Sydal(Evan Bourne), Jack Evans, Teddy Hart, Joey Ryan....the fuck were they doing there in the first place?
Don't forget Vampiro!
DrknssRules1 It was a hefty paycheck, and a lot of people believed in this product being more than just a 9 episode experience. Honestly, the product would have succeeded more if it had more time to work with in my opinion.
+DrknssRules1 in Seth Rollins and Evan Bourne's defense they were not very old at the time and were working anywhere at the time. Even then I think they were a 1 time appearance only as well.
And Ricky Banderas (aka the Messiah and Mil Muertes)
Gotta start somewhere I guess
Wrestling Society X was fun, IMO. Also, it's like a spiritual predecessor to Lucha Underground. There are a lot of things that LU does that WSX was doing on its show.
I just remembered that Fabian Kaelin Guy in wsx is actually an associate producer in WWE/NXT right now
And the funny thing about Fabien Kaelin is that he's now leading the promos and video room for NXT
Wait a sec what!
do a czw video.
do a roh video.
do a barrel roll.
do a ecw video.
Yeah, I'd like to see him do positive episodes once in a while.
Doubt he'll do one on BARRage of Electric Lamppost 'Rasslin On Live Lobsters. I hear it got rated 9000+ by the ratings board.
To be fair, this looks like CZW, ROH and ECW doing a barrel roll.
Do a line with Shiek.
This was one of the episodes that hooked me on this show years back.
"Wrestling Society X" Directed by Michael Bay.
Only good thing is Seth Rollins. Get well soon man.
+jared England (and x pac maybe)
This was when his age was starting to get to him so definitely a big maybe
+jared England that true we got Seth out of WSX. one of the best guys in the biz right now.
+jared England I really hope he starts billing himself as "From the Dark Side of a Broken Heart". Also I was going to bring a DIFH sign to Fastlane.
Ahahahahahahahahhaahah that's a joke itself
WSX would've done better had it been a serious stage for talent not seen by the mainstream audience. Instead, it was MTV's idea to replicate the old ECW but with terrible stunts, explosions, bad gimmick matches, the special guest commentary (Every band that did commentary had the same reactions "I used to watch WWF" and that's it...The WSX commentators didn't fare much better) and lack of focus on the show.
MTV allowed it but they wanted to sink it faster than they sank Beavis & Butthead when it returned.
AEW needs to hire their special effects crew immediately
I actually love the over the top ridiculous absurdity of this! The definition of stupid fun. 🤣😎
That show looks like the stereotypical wrestling show or something from saints row the third
Wrestling society X was a guilty pleasure. I actually loved it because it reminded me of the old ECW and it was so random though.
I have two words that explain why Wrestling Society X was great. Matt. Classic.
in just glad they showed me matt sydal getting me into Indy wrestling.
Snooki punch. I just never gets old.
6:37
X-Pac having one last toke before going out.
0:49 Tyler black was there?! Thanks lord Rollins survived this
I remember coming back from a Raw house show when I was a kid and turning on the TV and tuning into this. Quite the change to say the least.
The only way to properly watch this episode is at 2x speed.
Thank god for Lucha Underground, a well booked and incredibly put together show! I'm sad it ended, not sure about season 2 even happening.
Still better than Randy Orton and Sheamus having their 1,000th match on Smackdown.
Did i see Tyler Black in W.S.X?
Evan Bourne and Seth Rollins were in there aswell
WHAT
And aj styles
For those of you keeping score, that's now TWO defunct wrestling promotions that Vampiro was supposed to be the face of. The other being XWF.
Make it FOUR with WWA and WCW.
@@michaelskoomamacher5652 WCW? Vampiro was barely a thought there. And WWA, that's kinda tough to call because they had no real synergy or structure in the company.
@@johnthesportsarchivist2600 he was quite prominent after feuding with Sting. Also your logic with XWF and WSX could be applied to WWA as well (short-lived, barely structured promotions).
@@michaelskoomamacher5652 Well the thing is, Vampiro was already an established star in Mexico. And he did have some success in WCW. I mean, he won the tag titles with Great Muta for crying out loud.
Holy shit it's Seth freaking Rollins
I watched all ten episodes here on CZcams and all I have to say is....dear god
The time bomb spot had me dying lmao
the "that is a dead fish" still lives rent free in my head.
This show had Age of the Fall on it. It also had New Jack. This show was weird.
Aww new jack... everyones favorite...... yaaaaayyy.
Hey, remember that time where New Jack did that thing and everyone thought he was an asshole? Wait... that pretty much covers his whole career. Good times. I know it might make me a terrible person to say it, but after all the shit he has done to other people, was anyone else kinda glad when he got brain damage and went blind in one eye? I felt like it was justice and that he totally deserved it.
+ECUporkchop Whoa he got brain damage and went blind in one eye???
+SkitteringCow not age of fallenfallen
+Ermac1990
You mean like at 6:38 in the video where they show him coming out?
If only Orange Cassidy kicked someone in WSX, they would show reel footage of a nuclear explosion
I kinda wanna see that now
I wish I could give this video more likes. the need for explosions after every actions bit was hilarious.
The stunt grandma blowing up was amazing!
The seeds of Lucha Underground
You could say this was an early incarnation but Lucha Underground was better it's sad Lucha Underground is now dead I think
I have this dvd. I bought it when i'd heard about the show but didn't have access to it when it first aired. It is absolutely shit. But I do actually really like it. It is what it is and doesn't pretend to be anything else. It's stupid, over the top and just a series of rather hokey stunts. But that's kinda what made it endearing to me. It tried to be different, and it really was. Like a comic book version of wrestling. An acquired taste, and not something that should be watched regularly, but as a one off series, it set out what it tried to achieve. Plus it's always cool seeing Vampiro.
Adam Grylls I bought it years back when I worked at best buy. I had never heard of the show. the be for was actually coming to remove them from shelves because it hadn't sold any copies, and I just decided to buy one with my discount. I never even got past the second episode. lol.
Well said! I can appreciate it for what it is, or at least what it tried to be - completely over the top, not to be taken seriously, and fun in its own way. Sustainable? What people were looking for? Maybe not but I can see that everyone in the show just went for it. And, each show is only half an hour so a small investment. Just think, the entire run of this show covers about half a week of current WWE programming, if that.
This is a pretty great channel. Very glad I found it. You my good man have earned yourself a new subscriber.
5:18 FROG BASEBALL!!!
0:49 Tyler Black or better known as
Seth Rollins
Also 6:31 and 7:04
Nobody appreciates WSX like I do
hmwpyro18 Wow, WSX looks pretty awesome.
I wonder why it failed when MTV showed great classic shows like The Jersey Shore (Gag me, MTV)????? :(
+GodzillaRider I *think* it's that it sounds kinda like Kayfabe? But backwards?
12thLevelSithLord that's exactly what it is
I loved wrestling society x when i was a kid i still watch the episodes now at 20 yrs old on yt
And there's probably somebody who legitamately loves this show.
Man, this came on when I was around 15 and I thought it was great. Reminded me of ECW. Got real nostalgic watching this. You know, if they toned down the cheesy special effects and gave this longer than 30 minutes, maybe there could've been something here.
6:31 Seth Rollins?
+Zoidberg Jesus and evan bourne
Seth is in 0:49 as well
Back when he was Tyler black I believe, also I think x pac was in it too
Love the explosions you added
Beaves and butthead theme at the end was awesome
Created by Michael Bay
Am I the only person who thinks Vampiro kinda looks like Glenn Danzig?
I did watch the DVDs out of curiosity and honestly, there is a match that is worth watching and made me want to see more. Jack Evans vs Matt Sydal (Evan Bourne in WWE) they went to a 10 minute time limit draw. It was one of the rare instances where they gave something time and it worked to build a bigger story that they failed to follow up on.
The promotion that has the shortest episodes has the shortest video in the Promotion Graveyard. Fitting.
Hey Brian. You mentioned all of the extreme stuff on MTV, both good and bad......and no mention of Celebrity Deathmatch?
Seriously though, good review. Haven't seen this show until now because MTV didn't air it on Latin America. Had if i know X Pac, Vampiro, Matt Sydal among others would've be there, i'd give it a watch.
Mox vs. Omega wished they had that much explosion in their match
0:49 OH MY GOD. IT’S SETH ROLLINS!
3:45 golden standard of editing 👌 😂
5:35 id imagine they deemed it unairable because even they knew it was too cheesy looking
Can you make a follow-up video to this? Lucha Libre USA that also aired on MTV. Thanks
Having ADHD is not half as bad as the crap Wrestling Society X put out.
LOL
i have ADHD and i can say it is not bad at all
This is true
Yeah. This is more like wrestling schizophrenia.
This was the Original Tuesday Night Wars, ECW on SCI FI vs. WSX on MTV. Seth Rollins and Evan Bourne came from this company
I watched WSX and yes I do agree with you on the video. Good video. I just sub to your channel about a month ago and I'm glad I did because your videos are good and u do know you history pretty well.
I kinda liked WSX way back when. And looking back, I didn't realize Jacobs & Tyler "Seth Rollins" Black were over there. And I would be watching ROH a few years later. Take away the bad special effects, editing and pacing the spots out, and it could've worked out better.
And Black Label Society guesting on commentary?
Helluva lot better than Machine Gun Kelly doing a guest spot on Raw.
You want to know another reason WSX sucked so bad? Apparently, they would bring in dozens of stereotypically handsome and pretty people to fill out the front rows of the audiences for the cameras, while the actual wrestling fans had to go behind them.
Yeah I heard they even told the people they brought in what to wear and everything and if you weren't dressed the way they wanted you were moved to the back row.
@@tylerhouston7323 That's MTV for you.
Yeah they tried to make WSX just like any ridiculous show on MTV. Lucha Underground did the tv show that has wrestling much better
4:25 Pitbull before the fancy suits and the NASCAR team ownership
The noise of the table spot hahaha
What's with that fireball?! HADOUKEN!
Goku and Ryu did that before it went mainstream.
eroupopper "We threw fireballs, before it was cool...."
colt cabana was on wrestling society X
And X-Pac. And Seth Rollins
+Luke Justice Evan bourne & Vampiro as well.
And Seth rollins
2:40 the guy getting powerbombed is a legend in the backyard wrestling scene
I only saw this once and I loved it! WRESTLING! SOCIETY! EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEX!
I remember this. I actually liked it, but I was much younger then and had no grasp of quality so that's probably why. Still have a nostalgia boner right now though.
Yeah I know lol. I'm 23 now and it slick hurts to see him shred things I like when I was a kid. Biker taker, The invasion angle, wrestling society x, ready to rumble it's hard being a fan of the Z man lol
i am so glad Lucha Underground ain't like this...
They're very similar
Same production team almost.
I love how there's all that wrestling stuff in the background, and a Star Wars Bossk and Bespin Luke Skywalker in the middle of it. Good choices.
Was flipping through channels one day and see Xpac. It was this. And the one match that I will never forget announced WAS a TLC match. Tables, ladders and Cerveza's match
I bet Kane was on the special effects team
I Bet You Undertaker Intentionally Hijacked The Special Effects Thus Resulting In Massive Explosions Like The Ones You've Just Seen
pitbull looks like Kerwin white
lmaoooooo the stunt granny explosion
Watching this again has reminded me of another promotion that aired on MTV (I think mainly MTV 2) that you could show on here as part of the promotional graveyard series. And that promotion is Lucha Libre USA.
:49 was that Seth Rollins?
I'm a big fan of Zane but I disagree, loves this promotion. Own the box set and wish season 2 would have aired.
They should've just have a tv deal with someone else and have season 2 there
yeah I always seem to encounter tons of online love for WSX
It was an amazing show. I think a lot of wrestling fans criticise it because it's considered low brow and not enough "psychology" and all the other shit smarks claim to like.
To be fair, it could have been a good promotion, since it had a good card, if it wasn't for the very strict time limits, which led to many matches being dumb spotfests or "how-many-flashy-moves-you-can-pull-off" contests.
It's entertainment, and it's entertaining. Of course it's not Steamboat vs Flair but that doesn't mean it's God awful. A bit less stupid explosions would really help, though.
wsx is hilarious XD all those explosions and camera shaking lmao
I've always wanted to check this out.
Funny how he said TNA would never dream of being unique and now they've got Broken Matt Hardy and his crazy antics. Even WWE copied the Final Deletion match.
Just another example of not giving TNA any credit for the actual good things that they did do. Not everything they did was awful. I respect Bruce Pritchard for giving TNA their props in one of his podcasts.
What;s it like to live with ADD...it sucks :(
When I was a kid I loved this show lmfaoo
Actually. That fireball only hooked me on watching these. That shit is just funny.
But it had Matt Classic :(
CZW and successful don't go in the same sentence
Clash With Tater I disagree.
I remember this show I liked it but yea with all the explosions and stuff it really was over the top
the stunt Granny just blew up OH MY GAWD !!!
