The movie "Can't Buy Me Love" was filmed at Tucson High School in Tucson. The school was picked because it was a fine arts magnet school and the administration decided that it would be good for the students to be a part of an actual cinematic production. I was finishing my secondary teaching certification at the University of Arizona which is about two city blocks from the high school so that's where I was spotted to do my student teaching. Being at the school during production was crazy. I was teaching biology so many of the scenes where shot in my room. The filming crew would come in, remove all the cabinet glass plus anything else that could cause glare during the shooting. Patrick Dempsey was the star attraction and it was known that he hadn't finished high school so it was kept secret from the students so they wouldn't get the idea that you don't need a high school diploma to be successful. Many times half my class wouldn't be there because they were extras and shooting someplace else on campus or just couldn't get to class because entire hallways where shut down for filming. Despite the chaos it was fun being there with the kids as there was this energy and constant excitement. Amanda was see seen off and on as was Patrick. It's a cute 80's style movie that's worth watching. I was distrurbed when I heard about Amanda's passing and the circumstances of it. Being a retired high school teacher I have witnessed what drugs can do to destroy young lives. It's a sad situation for sure. May she and the many others like her rest in peace and I am very sorry they left so soon. Edit: This is December 2023 and Patrick Demsey was nominated by People Magazine as the world's most handsome man. Go figure.
Until I recently saw a mention of Amanda's demise on CZcams, I was completely unaware of that sad news. Amanda's life twisted into an unfortunate tragedy that ended in her death. I so fondly remember Amanda and Patrick in the movie "Can't Buy Me Love", what a great Romantic-Comedy. I hope Amanda finally found peace in the next world. 😮😢❤😊 🙏
That’s cool that they filmed at your school! My sister and I were visiting New Orleans once when the movie “The Librarian” (Part 2 or something) was being filmed in the streets of the French Quarter. They allowed the public to stay in the scene as Noah Wylie was chased by bad guys through the streets. My sister got really close to him and ended up in the movie for a second. Being an introvert, I stayed well out of the way. It was a straight to DVD movie. Still neat though.
@@michelleferrell9854 I was there in the spring of '87. In the move, if you watch out for the scene that was shot in the biology classroom, that was Mrs. Petty's room. She was the teacher I student taught under. It was a great place to be and I enjoyed my time there very much.
She was also in the big screen movie version of “Annie” based on the Broadway musical. She was up for the lead, but was cast as one of the orphans. She has a brief solo line in the song Sandy. I think the line is “Rover, when you think it over…” There she is.
🙏😭Awww that’s a shame. I remember her. She had such a bright smile & bright light. I didn’t know she passed away. I feel so bad for child actors & question who is really watching over them! It’s amazing the kids like Brooke Shields turned out “seemingly” okay. Tatum O'Neal went through a LOT & had “daddy issues” but seems to have gotten herself together. May Amanda RIP.🙏😭
She might have sought psychological help. We don’t know that she didn’t. Plus, it’s ridiculous to think that just because someone seeks psychiatry to help gets it. It’s not like it can erase what happened. One has still got to find a way to cope and survive. There are perverts and then there are severe cruel sexual deviants.

@@DH-xm3hcit was sexual abuse, chronic pain, and PTSD that started it for me. I developed Bipolar, which runs in my paternal family, exacerbated by trauma later on. I was a passenger in a car crash while serving in the military. Around the same time, my bottom wisdom teeth started to erupt, but were impacted, and I couldn't afford to get them out. The car crash left me in a horrendous amount of pain, but I had to work, so I started taking over the counter codeine and ibuprofen, when working. Gradually I had to take more for them to work, and it just snowballed. By the time I realised it was a problem, it was too late. I was terrified and so ashamed. Eventually I asked for help. My doctor was fantastic, got me into a mental health unit, and I detoxed there, with the help of the best addiction specialist in our state. At no point was I scared while I was there. Everyone, including the people admitted to the ward, were so kind and supportive. I really wish that everyone who wants to detox, could have my experience. It has nothing to do with Hollywood, it's just easier to get away with it.

I loved Amanda in Can’t Buy Me Love. One of the classics of my teenage years. So tragic the manner of her passing. RIP.
Such a good movie.
Such a good movie, like when he threw the splat on his best friends front door and he caught him.
similar to Dana Plato story, both such beautiful girls, and it’s terrible how Hollywood damages individuals in order to be rich and famous
Hollywood isn’t the only place that damages individuals. Kids are taken advantage of by family members, neighbors, teachers, priests, etc…
But yea, it’s beyond terrible. 😔
Hollywood doesn’t damage people. It’s the choices that people make that often have terrible consequences. I feel for what happened to her, but _she_ chose to do drugs and it caused her to spiral out of control. Women aren’t dumb or helpless so let’s start taking personal responsibility for our actions and holding others accountable for theirs. Life can be cruel but how we deal with it is on us.
Similar to hundreds of kids that go through Hollywood and Disney.
Yep. She experienced a ton of neglect, rejection, and abuse at the hands of her parents. Her parents used her for her talent and did not truly care for her. Sure, the industry doesn't protect children, but that is why the parents are supposed to be there. Dana, too. Her parents couldn't care about her, either. They just used their kids as money makers.
it's not just hollywood. This happens all over, in small towns, churches, suburbs, etc and is more hushed up as everyone knows each other.
So heartbreaking. I remember her from the movie Annie. Rest in peace sweet lady.
I loved her. A great actress and beautiful !
Such a pretty girl. So sad that Hollywood destroyed another beauty. 😢
a calculator can't add up ALL the actors and actresses, Hollywood destroyed.
Yes,She was Lovely❤️💕❤️🌹🕊❤️🙏❤️
Thank you so much for sharing your story.🥰
I went to Tucson High my fresh and soph years- in 82-84. I had no idea they filmed that movie there. RIP Amanda.
@@michelleferrell9854 I was there in the spring of '87. In the move, if you watch out for the scene that was shot in the biology classroom, that was Mrs. Petty's room. She was the teacher I student taught under. It was a great place to be and I enjoyed my time there very much.
She was so beautiful! My favorite 80s movie, Can't Buy Me Love. ❤
She was also in the big screen movie version of “Annie” based on the Broadway musical. She was up for the lead, but was cast as one of the orphans. She has a brief solo line in the song Sandy. I think the line is “Rover, when you think it over…” There she is.
She has been made whole again, resting in paradise. Much love Amanda.
Not yet 🤔🤔
True, as she did believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior 🙏
She truly was gorgeous. A natural beauty, as the narrator said❤
Rest in peace, sweetie.
So sad how a pervert can destroy a good person's life. It's a shame that she didn't seek psychological help to help her deal with her past.
PTSD can really mess people's minds up! Any kind of trauma that's not healed is bad.
Truly beautiful ❤
I love your channel. You have a wonderful voice. That can be heard clearly and that you are compassionate. Thank you
Thank you for the nice words, and thanks for watching 🙏👊👊
Amanda Peterson & Corey Haim , our 80's hotrod gone 😢.
Rest in peace to both 🙏
My favorite movie Amanda Petersen 1987 can't buy me love. Love that movie. That was young Amanda Peterson. But sadly she was gone in 2015 age 43. Rest in peace Amanda 😢🕊️
Can't Buy Me Love and License to Drive are probably the two best teenage movies that were produced in the 1980s.
@scottdavidson526
16 Candles, Weird Science, The Breakfast Club and St. Elmos Fire equally as great maybe some better. Ferris Buelers Day Off another awesome one.
Edit. All if them plus the 2 you mentioned, zi remembered watching them over and over. Alll best teen movies to date.
I did find the one eith Robert Downey Jr disturbing though...Less Than Zero. That and zst Elmos Fire wasn't much of a "Feel good" watch. I didn't immediately run home to watch those. Not a movie but series, Square Pegs with SJP was a good watch.
Amanda was also related to one of my relatives. They were cousins.
Sad af.. cant buy me love, is a lifelong fav. Movie of mine. As a matter of fact i watched it with my 14 year old nephew just the other day... i had no idea she passed away.... 😢❤😢❤
I loved Amanda Peterson as Cindy Mancini in the 80's film 'Cant Buy Me Love'
So sad. Amanda was a beautiful young actress in the movie Can't Buy Me Love. She died too young. RIP, Amanda.
No doubt it was someone very powerful who assaulted her & she was forced to remain silent😞
Hi everyone it's Maryanne from the UK i remember Amanda from Annie she had a very beautiful singing voice they all did rest in peace Amanda may you rest peacefully in heaven with god and jesus we will miss you until we meet again one day in heaven xxxxxxx and she was very very beautiful girl to with beautiful blue eyes to xxxxxx ❤❤😢😢😇🙌🙏🙏🙏💐💐🌹🌹🌸🪷🌷❄️☃️⛄🐶🐕🐾🐾
I just watched "Can't Buy Me Love" the other day. I've watched that movie so many times. I only found out about Amanda's death a couple of years ago.
I do appreciate the time you take to remember these people.
Thank you for watching 👊👊
Likes and views as real motivation lol

It’s a realistic response sweetie
Truly sad...just so sad. Damn drugs...and damn Hollywood!😢
🙏 RIP AMANDA PETERSON 🙏
Beautiful and talented person, gone way too soon. 😢😥
Damn, that's so sad. I just turned 43 and I cannot begin to imagine living through that much pain and suffering.
Very sad, I wish she could have found the help she needed 😔
So sad, Rest In Peace Miss Peterson.
To the rapist. You think that it will all blow over with your victim. You caused her death.
I loved her in can’t buy me love 😔 my brothers favorite movie when we were growing up. Still can’t fathom she’s gone.
Can't buy me love was one of my favorite movies growing up! 🙏🏿🕊️
Rape is like murder
I remember her from the movie
"CANT BUY ME LOVE" It was sweet.
She seemed really sweet. What a sad ending!! My heart breaks for her and her sweet dear children!!
💗🙏💜GOD BLESS💜🙏💗
I use to watch miss Amanda peterson because she was my first celebrity crush when I was little
Blessed are those who mourn for they shall be comforted in Jesus name Amen 🙏🎉❤
Amanda peterson so reminds me of Rachel McAdams ,they both look like twins almost, both so naturally beautiful.
Exactly what I came to the comments for!!! I thought the same thing. She even has the little mole near her jaw!😩
My condolences to her family. Arrest the cabal
This is beyond tragic.😔🙏🏻
😔😔🙏
I didn't know any of this. So very sad. She was such a talented and beautiful young lady.
That’s what one traumatic event can do to someone… completely derail them. God bless her and her family.
Yeah, it's so sad 😔
She was a very beautiful lady, loved that movie too.
A true beauty and very talented actress..I didn't know this it's a sad day. God be with you.
She was so beautiful. Can’t Buy Me Love is one of my favorite 80’s movies. Her death was tragic.
At least it is clear by now how you get into Hollywood, and why so many "stars" start using drugs. I can only imagine what the ones that remained in that machine have gone through. :(
Very true. There needs to be a reckoning against these paedofiles who destroy young lives. Paying actors large amounts of money doesn’t remove the mental & physical scars of what amounts to sexual initiation.
Good chance it was a casting couch assault.
My daughter has never been to Hollywood. You can't blame it all on Hollywood for the sexual assualts and drug problems of this country. My daughter is still alive, and claims to be doing better 🤷♀️ Sill asks for money so.........
WHAT THE !!!!!,
This is so incredibly sad 😢
WoW. I never knew this about her. I didn't even know she died.
Omg..seriously, I did not know she died. She was so talented. Bless her soul. Just watched Can't Buy My Love with my daughter, and my daughter asked about her.
😔🙏👊
I was working in Hollywood and I saw her show up at paramount studios when I was there auditioning for a part in a movie. I remember her coming and looked at me and smiled and went straight into the office as she was running late. I went in to audition when we got stopped because of a commotion and it was her going off her brain cause she was high and she was asked to leave. That as in 1995.
This is heartbreaking.
You just broke my😢heart , I did not know till now 😢
I am shocked. I can't believe this is her ending. How tragic. So sad. I remember her. She was one if the biggest faces of the 80's. She was really beautiful before the drugs.
It's horrible how abuse can change someone so drastically, especially children . 😢 so much potential, just stolen.
I hope whoever abused her got their karma
She was beutiful, smart , and talented . I hate that she had such a sad life . I pray for us all . May she RIP . Be blessed and safe. Miss . Linda ❤🙏🏽❤
She was everything in the 80s! So beautiful! ❤
I had such a huge crush on her when Can't Buy Me Love came out. I actually say it in the theater 12 times just to see her.
Drugs ... they are a road to ruin, I'm sorry you never got the long life you deserved ,
Be you at Peace 💙🙏
AMEN.❤️
Tragic story of a young beautiful woman 🙏
You are an Angel.
RIP BEAUTIFUL SOUL
YOU ARE MISSED
Forgot how beautiful she was…really stunning. R.I.P. Amanda, I hope you have found the peace that escaped you in this life.❤
Life is not always kind to those who need compassion.
Unbelievably sad. She was a beauty. Rest in peace dear one. 😢
Oh my God, I had no idea that her life ended this way. The pictures at the end were heartbreaking.
Nikada ne bih dopustila da dete tako rano krene u svet glume, svi su kasnije ili zavisnici od droga ili mrtvi.Predivna devojka, zao mi je
How sad.
She was so pretty and talented and just threw it away.
Beyond sad. Poor girl.
@@EdCollectsWTF? Not cool.
Sexual assault causes downward spiral sadly.
It's, it's sad because famous Fortune doesn't always buy happiness and that industry is no better than any other when it comes to sexual assault and abuse and more.., 😪
