As a U.S citizen it pains me to learn about the horrid things U.S government was involved in. We didn't learn about this in history class either, which fosters ignorance and arrogance among average american folks.
almost all the country's government doesn't put the dishonourable thing in history class,it's nothing special…even someone blocked it
Was? Is. The things the US continues to be involved in right up to this very day.
You are not understanding the main culprit. The main culprit is not even the government. It's corporations. Government is just a puppet of corporate interests.
as a first generation german american on my father side born in California in 1988 (i started college courses and literature at age 8 because i wanted to skip ahead intellecutally it pains me to see Anglo Americans blame their own without knowing that it was the never ending religious war of the genocide of the decentants of esau from china and semetic peoples that underpins all invasion and wars of china and middle east into western nations momatter how far across the planet we flee…. this is not US government it is judeo marxist controlled “US” government. i say “US” quotes because a nation ruled by its enemeies is a fallen/failed/destroyed nation that no longer exists. just like when the akkadians destroyed sumer and made it babylon The atlantian aryan celtic germanic culture has been destroyed and make into neo babylon…
The U.S. government had very little to do with the 1973 overthrow of Allende. The Soviet Union invested far more in Chile than the U.S. did in the years leading up to the Chilean institutions' request for the military to take down Allende's attempt at revolution.
Sooner or later, all these thugs will have to pay for their actions. Rest in peace, Comrade Salvador Allende and all the comrades who died during and after the coup.
Viva Chile, viva el pueblo, viva los trabajadores.
Let's not forget what he was talking about when he said "foreign capital". The US funded their friendly candidate and he lost. Then they pressured the chilean economy to its knees from the moment Allende took power. On the day of this speech, the armed forces backed and funded by the US started one of the bloodiest dictatorships ever. This was only the beginning of Plan Condor.
Just a couple of years later a similar fate would strike Argentina. Since those dictatorships we've been in economic slavery to the IMF thanks to exorbitant loans we could never pay and no one asked for. The saddest part is that history appears to be on track to repeat itself.
Let's not forget the UK and Australia backed this too.
All of this and we were just a neoliberal experiment to the Chicago University
@@mani_icon3135 , Milton Friedman should have been **** for this.
@@mani_icon3135 also remind me what Mike Pompeo said : we lied we cheated we stole. it remind you the glory of the American experiment.
It's just not true. Allende oversaw the mass confiscation of property and an attempt to seize the means of production, and that had predictable economic results. Of course, foreign capital ceased to flow in because there was no longer any point. Wealthier Chileans also took their capital abroad-who in their right mind wouldn't? And what do you think is so bad about Plan Cóndor? It was an international cooperation of legitimate governments in response to the international cooperation of subversive elements funded by the Soviet Union and through robbery and extortion.

To hear such hope and courage in the face of certain death is honestly inspiring. This tragedy changed our world for the worst, but we have to keep that same hope and courage with us if we ever want to make it right. It's easy to be overwhelmed and beaten into submission, and a lot of us have been, we desperately need to recapture the spirit of our movement if we ever hope to bring Allende's vision, as well as the vision of so many others to light.

More importantly, revolution is the goal.
The Chilean people should wake up and crush the traitorous and genocidal Chilean armed forces and the United States too for planning all of this.
@@avijitbasu5789 On the contrary, I think Allende is a vindication of reformist socialism. His policies made great improvement to the conditions of the working class in just three years, and he gained votes - had it not been for the US, he could have continued doing so. The real failure was in percieving the threat the US posed, and in responding to it.

It's a myth that the CIA took Allende down. Chileans wanted him out. He was never popularly elected, he got in by a deal he violated, and he tried to impose a totalitarian revolution. The Chilean legislature begged the military to overthrow his tyrannical government.

This new wave of reactionaries in latin america makes this speech all the more tragic, just recently Chile voted no to a new constitution which aimed to replace the pinochet era one. It all happened despite the massive support for it a few years ago. It is clear that all this "socdem light" governments, like Boric and AMLO which barely challenge the power of capital are failing and are paving the way for the rise of a new fascism. Worse of all is that the right has massive support from everywhere, Atlas network, the capitalist class, media, and coupled with the growing inequality, the worsening conditions of life and everything, it seems that everyday the opportunity for a really subversive movement is all the more distant, we are all exhausted, alieanated, miserable, struggling just to survive, and they know this...
I just hope Allende was right and something new may arise again, meanwhile, it's just another day trying to survive in latin america...
@@loqutor yeah, America is also the richest country in the world and it also has the worst life expectancy in the "developed" world. That a country is doing great according to some propagandistic and biased economic measurements doesn't mean that the majority of the population is doing great, just that the people making those measurements are doing great
@@loqutor When, during the Allende era? That's usually what happens when your country dares to disturb even a little the flow of capital in favor of its people, you get embargos, sabotage, isolation, assassinations and eventually a violent coup. It happened time and time again all around latin america (and southeast Asia and Africa), then they put their puppets in power sell everything public to the highest bidder, which coincided with their definition of a "strong economy", and everything turned alright, right? Even then i'm sure there are still starving chileans to this day, just like there are starving people in my country, even when "the mexican peso is doing great against the dollar and the economy is strong". But i guess it's their fault for not working hard enough, right? Even tho both Chile and México are among the countries with the longest working hours...

Allende was a great leader and patriot of chile!
He was a patriot of international Communism.
@@anthonyodonnell6105he really was amazing, yeah.
@@duatia5315 if your dream is Communist tyranny, then maybe. Actually he was a failure in that respect.
@@anthonyodonnell6105 if increased wages, reduced taxes, giving free breakfast to Chilean children, expanding the Chilean healthcare system, nationalizing the Chilean copper industry so that its profits were reaped by Chileans rather than businessmen on wall street, increased pensions, and an expanded education system are hallmarks of international communism, then I cannot see why anyone would oppose it. He outright stated that he was a pacifist who wanted to bring about Socialism through nonviolent means, and he was democratically elected by the people of Chile. Does that sound like a tyrant to you? If it does, I suspect I can offer you an excellent deal for land in Russia, which has a leader that holds opinions opposite to all of Allende's policies.
If you think that Communism produces those things, then I have a bridge to sell you. Allende wasn’t a pacifist. He was happy to pursue a peaceful course while he could, but there was no way that would work indefinitely. He acknowledged that whether the revolution happened peacefully or through violence was a matter of indifference. His allies were less patient than he was, and in any case he was in bed with the USSR and Cuba. Castro advised him and trained many fighters for conflict in Chile, Argentina and other countries. MIR and other Chilean Communist guerrilla groups took property by force, and killed farmers, police, military, industrialists and others. Chile’s copper industry was built through foreign investment and expertise. The theft of agricultural property and the seizure of industry made productivity plummet and foreign investment dry up. Wealthy people moved their capital abroad, and educated and ambitious people emigrated where they could forge them own lives in the exercise of freedom. The people had less to eat under Frei Montalva, and even less under Allende. The transportation unions struck because Allende intended to break the unions and make a totalitarian state the only arbiter in economic matters. Allende was a Marxist-Leninist and was in the process of destroying Chile’s democratic institutions to replace them with a totalitarian state. Like all such states, they pretend it’s a dictatorship of the proletariat, but it is always a dictatorship of the Communist nomenklatura. It always ends in a hierarchical society where even fewer people live above more impoverished people.
