      John Watson fan I think I figured it out. It's HD. Everything is so high definition now, you can see every little bit of a persons face. Every detail. I think that makes the picture look too busy, which is why with old film, there's a sort of softness to it and it almost seems dreamlike in comparison to real life.

    • @phoenixcisco
      @phoenixcisco Před 9 lety +76

      John Watson fan Yes' wholesome' is the word. People conducted themselves with pride and dignity. They seemed responsible for their thoughts,words and appearance.Probably to do with the amount of discipline in schools and social conditioning but it made people stronger. Laurel and Hardy are my comedy heroes so to see them as real people alive and in their timeline is comforting.

      Both are funny in my humble opinion. Maybe Carrey’s appeal isn’t backwards compatible with older generations but I believe he will have a lasting presence with generations to come just as Laurel and Hardy have. I’m 32 and grew up watching Laurel and Hardy. They’re hilarious, but so are countless current comedians, several of which I suspect will live on well past their time on this earth.

      I really like that I'm only 28 and still know, them. Because most of this stuff stays, ether it is in the memory of a parent or grandparent who wants to show his child what he loved, or tv channels that happily show them again, or a vhs ( I know, that's still too young of a tech for that era haha) that patiently waits in the attic for a curious soul to play them. it's not gone because they're dead, it's not gone because people often naturally want to watch recent stuff, I don't give anyone a fault here. It's, again, natural. It will never be gone because great art is seen through the generations, even if it's waiting in form of an old cassette somewhere haha
