So I don’t really see this thing with Michael and Maria going anywhere. People act like Malex shippers think she doesn’t deserve Michael. I don’t feel that way. I think she deserves to be with someone who is IN love with her. Not someone who may someday grow to love her. Michael is always going to be IN love with Alex. I mean 10 years apart and nothing’s changed? I think she has more respect for herself than that. I also don’t think he can love her. I mean that sounds crazy, right? But he goes to her specifically after saying that love is the worst thing that ever happened to him. It’s like he knows that’s a safe space, like there’s no risk of that kind of pain touching him if he’s with her, just fun.
I know people are all well Michael went to her… Yes, yes he did. However, he also told us that he plays to quiet his inner turmoil when he doesn’t really like himself. What’s the first thing he does when he gets there? He plays. He wants to forget the turmoil of his relationship with Alex. He wants to forget that he doesn’t like himself for standing Alex up, because this is easier. Being with Maria is easier. It’s comfortable, but love isn’t comfortable, it’s complex, and everything worth having is hard work.
So all of that went through my mind and then this video happened. This is labeled AU because the ‘present day’ stuff is intended to be post s1 after Michael leaves Alex waiting.
