londonsburningup Nah to be fair the MODS back in the early 60s were dressing classy, same with all that disco fever in the 70s and funk in the late 80s like Kool & Gang or Fatback Band. i know what you mean though. Always been a rule to dress smart in a club. Come to think of it most clubs let you wear wtf you want now. Sad really.
Greedo true but the garage scene was hardcore underground straight from the grimiest clubs in London and it came after jungle and all the other underground scenes . So yea it was definitely classy and well dressed!

It all stemmed from pirate radio which did its service to the scene and the community. Without pirate radio the raves wouldn't have happened and the talent wouldn't have been discovered.

Teenage years flashed before my eyes. Adidas popper tracksuit bottoms, Ralph Lauren shirts, a 2 litre white lightning cider and a teenth of hash between 10 of you. Nice to actually put faces to names as most of these were sitting on there mates decks and mics doing 5 hour sets in their living rooms using just pure talent. Miss garage and all the pirate radio stations.
