    it depends on the specific piece of glass you want to break, notice that he hits them with the finger first to hear their resonant frequency.

    PS- that was a real acoustic engineer on the show, Dr. Roger Schwenke. Very accurate reading, though we popped out at around 120 dB at a meter when I was just goofing around, not trying to shatter a glass;)

    @JaimeVenderaHowToSing  Před 11 lety +11

    Yes Ella broke one on the commercials, just as MythBusters showed. However, the MythBusters episode was the first time a glass was broken WITHOUT amplification.

    Glad you like it. Incorrect on your thoughts about decibels. decibels is measured precisely at one meter, not at the mouth. Many people could peak much higher than 105 at the mouth. As well, you need very precise equipment for an accurate measurement Many have told me they are much louder using their decibel meter apps on an iPhone or a meter purchased off of amazon. As well, vibrato has nothing to do with it.

    @EWT66 It's all one voice, your voice. So yes you can go develop your upper range. 'To change to head voice' is putting it in a way that can limit you as a singer. Lots of practice will help build the voice so that it is seamless from the bottom to the top of your range.

    I like the 1:27 high note! you're like Brett Manning too.. not big as Adam Lopez or Nicola Sedda but very good and wide range!

  • @Mp5Drummer
    @Mp5Drummer Před 13 lety +4

    @silverpizza100 Late reply, but it's to find the pitch of the glass - if he knows what note it resonates at, he just has to sing it louder to make it vibrate and resonate more until it shatters.

    @EWT66 And that head voice you refer to doesn't necessarily mean 'falsetto' as many think. The glass breaking noise is a HORRIBLE sound like a sick foghorn that I'd never use to sing with. But it can be used in conjunction with an exercise I use to develop that full high voice;)

    He teaches the technique...it is called Whistle Register and he achieves it through Speech to Voice technique...the note is Soprano High C6...buy his material it should open up a lot of your issues concerning your voice.

    Driven frequency that is the frequency of his voice reaches the natural frequency of the glass. That's amazing to do physics. :D

    @puppetmaster983 Since the early 90s, then of course, he taught me to break glass, which is why I was on MythBusters. Currently, I've been finishing up a book with him but it most likely won't be released until next year;)

  • @GoAniMeGo
    @GoAniMeGo Před 15 lety +2

    Wow at 0:57. How can you reach that note with such power? In regular falsetto I can't get that high at all. With cheatfalsetto I can get that high but it is fragile and breaks if I put pressure/volume on it...
    What's the technique?
    Awesome video BTW...
