Imagine hearing this for the first time...in 1968.
You must take lsd while your listening
Oh god. 1968... this would have completely melted my reality.
Lmao I agree
I did.
Mind blowing indeed
I think Joe Satriani said it best of this song: "It's just the greatest piece of electric guitar work ever recorded. In fact, the whole song could be considered the holy grail of guitar expression and technique. It is a beacon of humanity."
I like reading what people say about jimi when you listen to him play man my body just feels a euphoria I can’t explain it moves me to here this man play
I could read this on vinyl, has to be 67 san fran cisco live recording, used to make me go cross eyed and dribble as a child... I think it was played a lot whilst i was in utero. This piece is the most profound piece of music that heals me, just as Jimi intended, healing the world in sound....

It still amazes me that someone was rocking THIS hard in the 60s.
He showed Everybody just what could be done and just how to do it. You can hear Hendrix riffs note for note in Jimmy Page's work. SRV wouldn't exist without Hendrix...etc., etc...

Yes, imagine hearing this in 1968, 54 years ago now. Saw Jimi live in March 1968 at 16 years old. Even as a young punk-ass kid I can distinctly remember at that VERY moment I was witnessing history - something special. Strange how that can work -- almost like a glimpse into the future. Someone who was so creative that I would most likely never see anyone like him again. Would imagine others felt the same way seeing him Live. Good day to All !

Jimi could be born 50 years from now and he would still be 50 years ahead of his time.
In what sense?
Enrique Vazquez as in he is timeless and would honestly be ahead of his contemporaries in any era
I’d say right on time at any time🤘🏾
In the sense that we are in 2018 almost 2019 this music was recorded in the 1960s and still sounds like it is coming to us from outer space and the future. How can you not understand that about Hendrix? Jimi was like an alien on a different level than anything.
Kevin Daley I hear ya. I guess I’d have to say it’s because when i listen, I hear all the southern bluesmen that he stands on their shoulders. He however electrified it and took it to the outer limits of space. But Hell...., I was born in 63 and we went to outer space at that time. It was right on time. You had to be there, baby. Ya dig?
But really, coming out of the conservative 50s and the counter culture was lit🔥. Kids today are much more conservative and certainly less social and experimental. I could go on and on but I’m hoping I get my drift. ✊🏾🤘🏾✌🏾

Listen, God told the Jews what they needed to do, and this helps us to understand the expression “uncircumcised in heart.” He told them to take the badness out of their heart. Why? He explained: “That my rage may not go forth . . . on account of the badness of your dealings.” They were disobeying Jehovah because their heart was bad. (Read Mark 7:20-23.) They were rebellious, and they refused to change. Their heart, which included their motives and their thinking, was bad in Jehovah’s eyes. (Read Jeremiah 5:23, 24; 7:24-26.) God told them how to change this by saying: “Get yourselves circumcised to Jehovah, and take away the foreskins of your hearts.”-Jeremiah 4:4; 18:11

Back then, people were just getting over the Beatles, The Beach Boys and doo-whop music then along comes a colorfully dressed, long haired black man who played the guitar left-handed and made sounds with it that no one ever heard before nor thought it possible to have a guitar make such sound. It was no longer about the vocals anymore and it was now about the guitar and what it was capable of. Hendrix set the high water mark, still unreached as of this day.

Amazing guitar playing, but also AMAZING production. People massively underrate Jimi as a producer too. I've never heard anything or anyone that sounds like this. What a legend!
Jimi was a virtuoso before the term became commonplace in contemporary music. If I recall correctly in the notes from “Experience Hendrix: The Best Of Jimi Hendrix” he basically improvised a one-take solo in studio on Manic Depression and then went back and doubled the solo. You can hear very subtle differences in the track. Even BB King in an interview just taking about blues with another guitarist, after about 5 seconds told him, “don’t ask me what I just played”.
Jimi went in there and basically doubled an improvised solo on the spot
Chas Chandler produced it.

I saw Jimi and his band The Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1968 in Anaheim California at The Convention Center. They were absolutely amazing, on fire! The friend I went with was bummed because he never removed his bowler hat the entire show and she wanted to see his wild hair. He was one-of-a-kind, a complete outlier and changed people’s perception of what sounds could be created on a guitar. He was a master. I kept a poster of him on my bedroom wall all through high school. Jimi Hendrix and also a Cream poster. Some amazing music was made during those years and with a lasting impact.
Yeah, I saw Jimi and the Experience in Oct. 1968 at Winterland in San Francisco. It heals your soul, storms your feelings and imagination, gets you back together as a whole when you are down. It transcends time and space. It is a mystic experience in these days of artificial, synthetic living we call life. We have to leave the cages, destroy the chains and be real humans, not humanoids. You must not only hear Jimi's music, you must listen to it...carefully
When I saw Jimi play this he played it behind his back, up against the amps, with the mike stand and the hardest parts with his teeth. He had to be supernatural.
He really is scarily good. I think God went all out on him.....
lol this comment makes me think 'twilight'
Was a voodoo child he telling you
Where and when did you see him play?
It's because of the voodoo ;P
Jimis guitar can make his guitar speak better than i can speak...
Lol
The best to ever pluck guitar strings. Paved the way for todays artists
Greatest guitar riff of all time
Interviewer: "Jimi, What Is It You Do?"
Jimi Hendrix: "Well, I stand up next to a mountain
And I chop it down with the edge of my hand..."
Liked it then unliked instantly, can't ruin the perfect 69!
Jayweedee… almost sounds like a line from a Chuck Norris movie! (except Jimi could actually do it)
Interviewer: Why do you do that?
COZ I'M A VOODOO CHILD!!!!!, LOOOOORD KNOWS I'M A VOODOO CHILD!!
Sorry, never again.
Well he is not wrong
His guitar is talking to you in a cosmic language . Its so abstract most humans can only just begin to perceive the profundity of the message.
FAR OUT.
This man single-handedly not only changed the music of his time and how it would be expressed from then on but also and just as importantly, changed the way the instrument itself, the electric guitar would be played from then on as well. This is something that all great modern guitarists have been trying to emulate to this very day. No one has made the kind of impact on music in general, but more specifically on modern Rock n' Roll / Blues / Hard Rock / Heavy Metal, and so on and so forth.. as the man himself, Johnny Allen Hendrix, aka James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix! Long Live Jimi and His Music! First Chair & Lead Guitarist Extraordinaire in the heavenly music halls of eternity! God Bless and Keep Jimi Hendrix!
The Man, The Myth, The Legend.. Jimi Hendrix!
"Roses are red
Violets are blue
when i listen to jimi
my neighbors do too"
Lol u bet
I feel you.
True & hysterical! 😂
Yes, I see Jared Dines too(...
