Great review, thanks for doing this Brian.
Excellent review. Have the same and found it to be useful for Car Scanner and the odd bit of live TV when parked up!
Cheers. It’s quite revolutionary. Also saves having to bring my Ipad when i’m parked up waiting.
Hey Brian - As I now have mine up and running thanks to your video, I found it a bit error prone (my fat fingers) typing using the Android keyboard on the screen. So I investigated and sourced a small pocket size Bluetooth keyboard with a built in trackpad on Amazon. I then connected this via Bluetooth to the AI box in the car and now I have a proper keyboard to type in search bars etc and a trackpad which gives me a normal mouse curser on the screen, so if I want to use it for longer periods it is much better than keep pressing the screen for selections and of course leaves no fingermarks! Works really well.
Glad it works,I have an and old iPad keyboard that would probably do the same.
Hi, I bought Tbox mini and I was unable to watch videos in a full screen. My vehicle model genesis GV60. Any idea how to resolve this issue ?
Does GV60 have a split screen turned on to the right? CZcams does not always fill the screen,it depends if the aspect ratio of the video
Looks like a must-have for any EV owner
Also works on ICE cars with a touch screen and wired Apple Carplay support. But yes. I love it.
@@evodessey Not my car, then 😄
@@evodessey And pishy Rishi has put back the deadline for banning sales of fossil cars. Hopefully it will make no actual difference as adoption grows.
The full deadline was 2035 for hybrids any way. His announcement was mostly BS apart from Gas Boiler Phase out. The manufactures are all gearing up for mass EV production so they will actually dictate what you can actually buy more than the Government. Price parity is as close as 2024 because of falling battery pack prices.
@@evodesseywill it switch automatically to the rear cam when I reverse?
Great review. I keep telling people the Tbox Plus is an awesome device to get, especially for the price.
Cheers Jeff and thanks for the heads up the price.
@@evodessey glad to help
The biggest complaint I have about this is It uses apple carplay to start wich means it does NOT support dual touch, so no pinch to zoom in/out in maps.
I just got mine and after a little testing, it feels great. However, I did not get my Vgate iCar Pro Ble4.0 OBD module recognized by the box. It comes up in the Bluetooth settings (as Android-Vlink), but just does not connect. Having Car Scanner on the dashboard display would be so much better than the phone screen!
A feature that would be really great would be to be able to have multiple user profiles. Without that, all apps are basically tied to one person's personal accounts, which is not quite optimal!
I wonder if anyone uses the box with an USB cable with an on/off switch?
Got mine set up in my EV6 today. Thanks for the video 👍… I can only watch Netflix in a small window and struggling to figure how to make it bigger.
Did you actually update the version of Netflix to the latest by chance?
Just tried mine. Watching a 4:3 aspect program, that stretches from top to botton with border at the side. This is with Car Split screen on.Watched Stranger things episode this way and totally fills the screen. With split screen off i get border on left & right. Like these images drive.google.com/drive/folders/1BvVVGtSHHYnwKg8nkZC6edYTn5tk03Du
It’s crazy that Kia Picanto supports wireless CarPlay but not Niro EV 😖
Thanks for the video! Now, still OT, do you think there will be a new update for the infotainment? Greetings from Germany 👋🏻
Cheers. We could be waiting as long as June before the next update comes out.
Seems very useful, are there any comparable products? Wonder if this could be done with open source android just.
I honestly don’t know. I think the Bootloader is unlocked from messages i’ve seen in developer mode so i guess you could install another OS.
Had a similar gadget that drove me crazy as it constantly connected to my phone even as the car was off. It finally got a feature to power self off when cars bluetooth was off. How does this handle that issue, can it power off with car?
I don't leave it plugged in as it's a possible 12v drain. So I would not trust leaving it plugged in.
Thanks Brian, a cool piece of kit. One of the gripes I have with AA is that it takes over the voice command function. Does this bypass that?
Press once for in car voice still works for me,not really tried commanding the box with voice commands yet.
Quick short press = Kia, longer press = AA
@@johniooi3954 thanks, works a treat!
I have one of these boxes for my Kona. If I use google assistant it then only plays music via voice prompts. Is this the same for you too?
I play music via AIMP app or BBC Sounds so not even tried Google Assistant. Works fine in manual mode.
Hi Brian, I have bought one of these based on your recommendation.
I may have missed in your video, but I’ve just setup and turned the car off and there are lights still flashing, so I’ve unplugged. Would you recommend unplugging to avoid battery drain?
I unplug mine because i don’t want to take a chance on the 12v. In theory it should be OK. Also if Kia Connect wakes your car up it will try and connect to your phone which can become annoying.
@@evodessey thank you for confirming, I was also erring on the side of caution.
Is it possible to use Google maps on this device and hence fool the EV6 into allowing it's navigation to run simultaneously? That way it'd be easy to get decent navigation but still get the battery to precondition as you approach a charger?
Yes,use this Carlinkit CPC-200 T-box. It turns your car touch screen into a full Android tablet so you can run Google Maps on that and the Kia Nav doesn’t care. You can even run 2 apps in split screen. czcams.com/video/NPr3PMXmQck/video.html

@@evodessey Thanks, I feel a purchase coming on 😁
@@evodessey Hi, I have one due for delivery tomorrow via Ali Express for less than £100
Also, my experiments show that the USB socket in the car goes to sleep a couple of minutes after the car is switched off and wakes up again if you approach the car with keys or restart the car or press unlock.
This should mean no 12v power drain if the CarLinKit is left plugged in. Certainly I've had no issues with the AA Wireless dongle being left plugged in.
Do you need a SIM card in order to use google maps etc or can it run via Bluetooth? If not do I use my mobile Hotspot while driving?
It works better with a sim card to be fair. You can connect it to your phones hotspot at the same time as Android Auto in later versions of the Carlinkit firmware.
Thanks. Brian 👍
Thanks Brian. The link takes me to the US and Canada version, is that the one you got? Thanks, Chris
No I got the other region version, scroll down you have to choose it.it's below the US one
I've corrected the link, cheers
@@evodessey No worries, thought that might be the case, thanks a lot Brian, cheers, Chris
Hi, what model Wi-Fi adapter do you have? And where did you get it? Please send link.
Most reliable one is a Motorola MA1 from Amazon
@@evodessey thank you
Here is my review from last year. czcams.com/video/gwY03q9g1ko/video.html
Hi I purchased one of these after your video.Have you been able to get access to the internet using just a sim card, and not tethered to a phone?
Yes,just this week I got a pay as you go sim for it .Works well
@evodessey Seems like I didn't fully credited my SIM card 😕 Doah!! Which is why it didn't work. Thanks for the update, BTW I really like having car scanner on the infotainment screen. I've also just replaced my 2 rear tyres 19,756 miles, which isn't bad, for an EV.
On Monday I finally passed 10k miles. Some way to go before I replace tyres
How do you get the Menu Bar on the right of the screen?? mine is on the left and its a bit of a stretch to get to it.
I can’t remember😂 i will have to pop out to the car to check…
With the t-box unplugged,assuming you have EV6 or similar,press setup->phone connection->phone projection settings->Apple Carplay->press settings cog,select either left hand steering or right hand steering,press OK,plug t-box back in
@@evodessey Thanks for that I have an Mg 4 with an Android Phone but will give it a try ..
@Nik-sk7qr yeah it will be in car play settings, only driven MG4 once did not go into settings
Hi after some research using the MG EV forum I have found out there is no setting for car play on the MG 4 . Android Auto has a left right setting but carplay doesn't .So looks like I will have to put up with a menu on the left ..Thanks for your help in this anyway
how long did delivery take?
Around 10 days
