    • @44akaladd
      @44akaladd Před 4 lety +7

      @@brentduanefoster It is my understanding that the 'christian' church was established to spread the teachings of Christ. The two 'testaments' are before and after collections of guides and instruction for how to live in a manner which would be pleasing to God and provide for the afterlife.
      The 'New Testament' or covenant (the after the birth of the Christ) is meant to supercede the old. Both were written in a combination of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. English had not even been invented yet. Anyone that speaks more than one language knows how difficult it can be to translate anything and keep the meaning and the words exact from one language to another. So immediately error is introduced.
      Evidenced by all the different christian sects that exist now - each decided the words as written meant something significantly different.
      Personally I read very little Greek and no Hebrew or Aramaic at all and have never been blessed to read the original texts. I know there was significant socio-political influence attached to the King James translation (which has at least 4 variations to my knowledge) and multiple other translations available.
      Again, I personally don't know which one is closest to the original and am cynical enough to not completely trust any of them even though I know many do.
      I do acknowledge that many believe it is the exact and true Word where I believe it is the documentation of another man's interpretation and anytime it represents any belief other than loving one another is the greatest commandment of all, to me it is suspect.
      I too, am just a man, but this is what I believe. God loves me. I love God and do my best to love all my fellow men.
      Probably more than you wanted to hear but I hope it explains my point.

      No where in scripture does Jesus use music to reach people. Jesus used the word of God. That is what reaches people and brings about changes in peoples lives. Music just makes you feel good for a moment. When the song ends, after while, so will that good feeling. But God's word is everlasting. Jesus the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). His wheel does not need recreating to reach people. People dancing in the club to a song are not thinking about God. And anyone who has been to a club can vouch that statement.

No, holy music is not a sin because David played the harp and unclean spirit name out of King Saul. "In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God, and the word was God". John 1:1. Jesus was criticized the very same way for eating and drinking sitting and spending time with sinners. He came for the lost. The church folk had it all wrong! They were/are supposed to follow the teachings of Yeshua by going out and bringing the knowledge to the lost, scared and confused. It's rather moot calling oneself a Saint or Christlike, if one is not following His example. A lot of people found their way into the doors of higher knowledge and Christ because of those who dared to not judge others but instead, they ministered them through 'the word', wisdom and song.

      @diva70smusic Před 2 lety +1

      @@cehayes74 Yes. This was 1967. What was considered Gospel music then is vastly different from now. Baptist churches (and others) did not like songs with a modern or fast beat, songs that were played on non gospel radio stations, or songs of edification. The choirs sung mostly hymns from an approved songbook from the main governing board.
      "Amazing Grace" is considered a classic hymnal sung in Baptist and Methodist churches since 1779. Even though the author was a slave owner, it hard to find musicians, artists, writers, scholars and the like from that era who were not. Some people have problems with the Bible, especially the King James version. He was the head of the Church of England. He didn't write any of the Bible, it was written in dedication to him. There are other translations that invite controversy e.g., The New World Translation, the Reader's Digest Bible, and the Living Bible among others.
      This is why it is necessary to worship and to have Bible study. Godly scholars can help us understand the words of Christ. We can still sing the songs and read the Bible understanding we are worshipping and praising the Lord, not the authors. We cannot rewrite or change history. Moving forward we can hope not to repeat the same mistakes. It is hard to be a believer in confusing and trying times. We must always keep the faith🙇🏽‍♀️🙇🏽‍♀️!! Not

    The way the Clark Sisters were treated by the church, is one reason why I don't go back to the church and why people of the world have a hard time trusting the church. In particularly, the black church.
    Those strict rules were not God rules, they were rules by man.

    How close-minded of the church to only want to keep gospel music to that themselves and not spread the word. Shouldn’t the church meet people where they are and deliver them from there. Is this not “spreading the good news.” This is one of the reasons why some people just don’t fool with church...because of judgement and close-minded views. While I understand not performing in Studio 54...their reach was amazing.

    The church: "Sinners should not be listening to songs about Jesus."
    Jesus: "It is not those who are healthy who need a physician, but those who are sick; I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners."
    Church folks are the problem. They stand in the way of the relationship between God and the sinner. But, ahhhhhh, they will be held responsible for causing God's children to stumble and fall.

    When I 1st heard this track. I fell in 😍 love . It was playing on the secular stations. I never thought of the beat being wrong. It was and still is the gospel. Kirk Franklin got the smoke to. Church people are haters and religiously Judging all the time. They ministered to the lost in the night club and people was praising God dancing. That's what Jesus wanted when he sat with the sinners. Jesus Christ came to save the sinners not to condemn .

  • @aneshabrown5
    @aneshabrown5 Před 4 lety +4

    That is ridiculous! You can not control what people like. This is why I left the church and I worship everyday at home. The church should be happy that the sisters were reaching people outside of the church. That is why I love Kirk Franklin. His music gravitates towards the younger generation (mostly) with his upbeat/ hip hop style sound on some of his songs. When I’m sad, I listen to Kirk Franklin; it is almost like it is he made it cool to praise God lol

    COGIC (like so many other dogmatic religious sects) is so oppressive and restrictive. Which is interesting given all the scandals and mess that has gone on in that sect. God loves the people dancing in the clubs as much as the ones dancing in church and there’s not much difference when you examine their lives.

      Totally agree. I don't care what anyone says; no way (as a woman) that I'd want to be a member of a COGIC. And don't think it's changed from what it was years ago. Still the same misogynistic, homophobic, sleazy males in positions of authority.
