God, I love the conclusion of the Director so much.
It's built up so well. Carolina and Church are finally going to face off with the Director! The guy that's directly or indirectly responsible for all of the horrible shit that's happened to all of our beloved characters. He's finally going to pay! He's finally going to get what's coming to him!
And then, we open the episode... on a broken shell of a man that lost everything long ago, and lost even more trying to get it back. A man not even trying to live anymore, a man "more filled with memory than he is with hope". Just the stark, utter contrast of what he's become.
And THEN comes the reveal of Carolina's parentage. And you realize that she knew that all along, and so many things make sense.
And in the face of that broken man... the broken remains of her father, even Carolina can no longer maintain her anger. The scheming man who destroyed her life is already gone; there's nothing worth taking out on what remains.
I went in to this finale looking to see blood, and I left it both crying for the Director, and surprised that I was doing so.

the back story is that Allison met the director in boot camp, he failed out but she passed, they started dating, had Carolina while the director went to college for AI theory, then Allison went into the great war and died. the director did the mind copy to AI thing, like Dr Halsey did to make Cortana in Halo. when he did that it made Alpha and Beta/Tex the memory of Allison, which gave him the idea of "spiting" the Alpha.

The thing they got to fix the AIs after they torture it is an Engineer, from Halo ODST and Halo Reach. They float around with tendrils for limbs and their entire defining thing is that they're literal geniuses at taking things apart or fixing then. They can examine and dismantle any human, alien, or forerunner technology at fast speeds, then understand what it is or what it does, and then sometimes they'll put it back together. The stuff they put back together usually works even better than it did before, according to the lore.
I guess RT saw an opportunity for an AI creation loophole with this creature in the halo universe.

Season 10 is a fantastic season, and I loved watching you react to the end of it, I've been so excited for you to see Donut's return ever since you expressed how sad you were he was gone.
On the topic of you saying season 10 was fantastic and you don't know how they can top it, just know going in to it that season 11 is pretty much a set-up season for the rest of the trilogy so don't expect it to be as insane as season 10 as season 10 was a finale to a story arc and season 11 is just the beginning to a new one. But, stuff really starts picking up during season 12 and I would say season 13 is just as good as 10 to me, they are tied as my 2 favorite seasons in all of Red Vs Blue. I would also say that it seems to be the popular opinion among the RvB community that seasons 10 and 13 are the best ones. So i cannot wait for you to get into the Chorus Trilogy and see what the show has in store! :)

Everyone talks about the Carolina/Tex dichotomy. But probably even more heartbreaking is the fact that Tex only knew how to fail- especially when it was important. She was the memory of a woman who failed to come home. She failed to stop Director Church, She failed to save Alpha, She failed to save Carolina and was the catalyst for the end of the Carolina and York's relationship...
    She failed to be Allison...

27:00 for those who don't know the alien we see is a huragok, or an engineer. They're in halo 3 odst and halo reach. They were forcefully drafted into the covenant to fix their technology. Huragoks are passive and will not attack the player, instead when the player kills all members of the huragok's unit it will blow up via a suicide vest. Huragoks in lore actively try to fix broken tech (as shown in halo 3 odst) and what we see here is it separating the different broken sections of alpha. I'd recommend you play all the halo games, I reckon that'd be some good content.

Since I'm around here watching this.
    Alpha: Base Unit, Church
Beta: Failure(Fragment created as a result of Alpha being created)
Afterwards all fragment were the Director trying to recreate an anomaly.
    Omega: Aggression(Assigned to Texas)
    Delta: Logic(Assigned to York)
Sigma: Ambition/Creativity(Assigned to Carolina, she opted to have Maine have so communication would be easier and she didn't need it)
    Gamma: Deceit(Assigned to Wyoming)
    Theta: Trust(Assigned to North Dakota)
Eta: Fear(Based off the leaderboards I assume that they would be assigned to Washington, but accepted by Carolina)
Iota: Happiness(Previous comment, taken by Carolina)
    Epsilon: Memory(Assigned to Washington)
Speculation: When it was shown how Epsilon was created I believe they specifically associated the trauma of Texas being killed alongside Washington most likely to make them "compatible". I assume the Director was attempting to make the Alpha grieve or go through certain emotions to make his mind fracture and have the covenant Engineer isolate those fragments. The result was more or less abusing himself and him figuring out more on the human mind in an attempt to bring his wife back.

  • @Inv4drz

If I didn't know better, this could have been the end of the series. But they were already on another season when I watched this. But god was that ending so emotional. I felt so bad for both Carolina and the Director. Carolina for wanting her father's attention and approval and the Director for just wanting his wife back. When that door shut and you hear the "don't say goodbye, I hate goodbyes" had my eyes really watery. And when Carolina tells church about her mom and he leaves with her, leaving the sniper.... man, this had me tearing up so hard. I remember watching the first few seasons that were mostly just goofy and funny. And then by season 6 it takes a more serious turn while still keeping the humor. If you told 8 year old me, who was shown this by my older brother, that I'd be crying emotionally over this show I wouldn't believe you.

The alien that helps the Director fix the Epsilon unit is an Engineer, like in Halo 3: ODST. Loved the reaction, I've watched and rewatched this series so many times, but you point out some things that even I've never caught!
Also, moving forward, I've got some suggestions. Firstly, I think you should watch the trailer for each of the next three seasons (11-13) before you get to them, ESPECIALLY for Season 13. Secondly, make sure you watch the end credits for 11 & 12, those contain some interesting reveals.
And lastly, I know other people have requested RWBY reactions from you, and with this comment I'm becoming one of those people, but I also want you to know that before you start RWBY Vol. 1, you HAVE to watch the four main trailers for that series-Red, White, Black, and Yellow, they're called.
Anyway, great video, can't wait for the next episode!
