It’s been a 30 year wait for Headless Cross to return. I am here for it
Tony Martin was truly underrated singer for Sabbath. He gave it a real power metal during the that time
Hard rock. Even iommi doesn't refer to them as metal. He says he doesn't understand the term.
I'm so glad the Tony Martin era is finally getting some love.
Tony is one of my all-time favorite singers and all his albums with Black Sabbath are top-notch and underrated. Can't wait to hear these remasters.
Tony Martin is such a cool, humble guy and the music deserves to be appreciated without being compared to any other lineup.
At last Tony Martin’s contribution to Black Sabbath is finally getting the justice it deserves. Eternal Idol, Headless Cross, they were absolutely brilliant in every way.
Headless Cross is a total classic, it's going to sound massive remastered
R.I.P. COZY POWELL 🙏👊
Really happy to see the Tony Martin Era of Black Sabbath being brought back into the limelight. Great music
Can’t wait to hear the remix of Forbidden! Would love to see Tony Martin come to America and play his era of Sabbath material. There’s a whole new generation who’ve discovered and love this era.
Can't agree more. I'm taking in these albums again with an open mind and i feel like listening to brand new amazing music. There's plenty of great songs, riffs and especially KILLER vocals. I love this era.
Martin era albums are fantastic and it's great to finally see them get some appreciation.
Tony Martin era is my favorite. 😎👍 Great albums. 🤘🤘🤘 Great voice. 🔥🔥🔥
Tony Martin's solo album "Thorns" (2022) is awesome. 🤘😎🤘 I hope Tony will release new music soon and hopefully tour. 👍
Agreed, Thorns is fantastic! Tony Martin's still got the pipes, if Tony Iommi still has the chops they should get together and do something!
I’ve been waiting for this for years Tony Martin era. A Black Sabbath is the best very underrated singer the legend.
The Eternal Idol , Headless Cross and Tyr are three of the best albums Black Sabbath ever made .
It always felt like Tony Martin got the unfair end of the stick with Black Sabbath. Repeatedly ditched for another ex-singer, yet always coming back and delivering 110% for no good reward (small fame, no fortune), only to get the bulk of his body of work be unavailable for nearly two decades.
I am very happy to see all the attention these reissues are finally receiving. It is long overdue and so well deserved.
These records were Power Metal before that became a thing.
Not only that but he was the most reliable singer they had, almost did as many albums as Ozzy and even more than Dio, and he could sing the entire catalog which Ozzy and Dio couldn't/wouldn't do.
Wouah.... a whole interview about the Tony Martin era and not one mention of bassist extraordinaire Neil Murray....
It's been amazing all this re-validation of that whole era. But I wonder why no one talks to or even mentions Neil Murray, the bassist
Black Sabbath is unique in many ways
My favorite Black Sabbath era!!! 🔝🔝🔝
I’m so happy to see him happy ♥️
Tony Martin is such an underrated vocalist. Killer albums with Sabbath, and thrilling to finally have the I.R.S. records back in print!
He's right. I was 16 in 1995 and almost nobody of my friends listened to Black Sabbath or metal in general. It was grunge and the new resurgence of punk.
My favorite singer in the band. So glad his contributions are now getting the recognition they deserve.
For me.. This was my black sabbath. Growing up, headless cross, cross purpose, forbidden was soundtrack to my younger years... 💪👍
Congratulations Tony Martin. Youre the BEST singer ever and most certainly in sabbath. Cant stop listening.
Tony Martin is my favourite Black Sabbath singer.... The TYR album is very very underrated... I wish the had included the full length Cross Purposes Live DVD/BR and CDs here with the box set.... Cheers!.... Eduardo Avello.
That is ashame. I twice have watched the concert on CZcams and I am sure Tony Iomi would have liked to have a go with this one. Probably forgotten on his to-do list to remaster the concert.
Maybe later he will put out the remastered Cross Purposses live dvd he still have work to do
This is probably my most anticipated box set release ever! Can't wait to hear one of the best metal vocalists given new breath! Thank you Tony Iommi for shining a big beautiful light on this era of Sabbath 👍💯👏🤘🎸🎶🎤🎶😊
Huge fan of Tony!! Glad he’s getting his due
We, the fans , REALLY love you Tony...The first release of the Forbidden album, on my first hearing, amazed me. Because, for me stands the song writing...I am proud as a Sabbath fan that i had the privilege to hear your amazing VOICE. God Bless you Tony. Cheers from Veria-Greece.
I'm one of those who liked Forbidden as it was; yet, am excited to see and hear the changes.
I love that they included the banner across the front of the cover with Henry just like on the Devil You Know album! Sabbath IS Sabbath.
Can't wait. Dio was always my number one by tony Martin is my second fave Sabbath era and headless cross is top 3 album of all Sabbath albums. So under rated it's criminal. Maybe now some Ozzy die hard/fan boys can give it the time and credit it deserves.
The greatest Sabbath vocalist! Can't wait to buy the box set.
I just preordered the boxset while watching this video! Can't wait to hear the tracks!! Great interview with Tony Martin, cheers!
They all sound fantastic. There are some real bangers on these. So glad Tony is getting the appreciation he deserves.
Tony Martin is the best singer Sabbath ever had he has no ego fully respecting all era's of the band and the albums he sang on are brilliant
You dont owe BS anything. You delivered the voice which they needed. No one owes anyone anything. Supply and demand.
Interesting bit on black Sabbath and singing in harmony
There is stuff on there that is very reminiscent of Alice In Chain.
Virtual death on Cross Purposes is very Alice in Chains'ish kind of sound. @@ThemFuzzyMonsters
Love Tony, one of the best ever and seems like a proper sound guy
Cross Purposes marked its 30th anniversary this past January. So far, what I’ve heard of the remixes has been stellar. I’ve written about it on my site. 🤘
Tony martín. Lo queremos en colombia con black sabbath. Gracias maestro por su música. 🇨🇴🤘
CHEERS FROM BRAZIL DUDE!!! AWESOME MAN!!! I´M SO FUCKING HAPPY FOR IT ALL!!! TONY MARTIN RULZ MAN!!! MY FAVORITE BLACK SABBATH ERA!!! THANKS FOR ONE MORE NICE INTERVIEW!
Tony! What a great dude.
👍👍😍👍👍
Awesome Tony Martin!!!!
Congrats from Brazil!!!
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My introduction to Black Sabbath was Headless Cross !..! !..!
Tony seems like a genuinely good guy. Good on him and Sabbath for putting this box set together. Can't wait to hear them.
Tony Martin looks like a British Robin Williams.
With that being said, he’s a great guy and I love this music
I have all the original albums, but I am definitely getting the boxset. One for the remastering, and second for the remix of Forbidden. I absolutely adore the Tony Martin era! Albums like Headless Cross and TYR are MASTERPIECES to me.
Miss Cozy his drums were turned up
Great interview. Tony is a welcome part of the Sabbath family.
Excellent interview with Tony Martin about the “Anno Domini” Box Set and the host seriously resembles Actor Robert DeNiro!
My only gripe about the Box Set was the Albums were all reissued with cheaper Paper Sleeves like Records and not put together in cool conditional digipaks or jewel cases to fully protect the CD’s from easy play side scratches! Overall, very happy with the amazing remastering and remix sound quality! Wow! Glad to have this new Box Set as part of my CD collection in 2024! Way too long a wait and overdue! It’s finally here! Cheers!
I’ve been waiting 30 years…..
We appreciate you Tony! Can’t wait to hear these.
Awesome interview. I have been a Sabbath fanatic since I was 8 in 1980. I discovered KISS and Black Sabbath at the same time and ran with the music my whole life. I have loved every era of the band and back when Tony Martin first joined, I was one of the biggeat fans of his era of the band too. I also worshipped the Ozzy, DIO, and Ian Gillan eras. But yeah, I still have my old copies from when they first came out and I bought them again through some sort of Chinese boxset of the entire Sabbath career on CDs. But I am definitely looking forward to getting this. I loved every album with Tony Martin including "Forbidden". I actually went to see the Forbidden tour with Motorhead opening and I loved it in Chicago. Very cool interview here though! I sing in a Black Sabbath tribute band in Chicago called After Forever:Black Sabbath tribute. It more of an Ozzy era band though but I love the Tony Martin era too.
Tony the best Sabbath Singer
I must say the new remixed albums sound much better and as a long time Black Sabbath fan I think looking back over history it is clear to me that Tony Martin is the best singer the band ever had because of his voice and range he is the only one who could sing any song on all 19 albums.
I just have to say here ,when you guys are speaking of fans of the original Forbidden album. I can honestly say I am one of them and this was indeed the album that opened my very closed mind up to all other Sabbath (non Ozzy years). Before I heard this album, I was dead set on the only Sabbath was the original with Ozzy until a friend In high-school popped a set of headphones on my head and unexpectedly not knowing what was playing. It was the Illusion of power track during the verse and I instantly recognized Iommis guitar sound. I borrowed the album and still have it to this day, but this album was responsible for opening me up to all other Sabbath albums. Once I heard this I knew I was missing out of so much good quality Sabbath
Thank you Metal Voice for a great interview. I have a Tony Martin era 12 inch single from back in the day and the 2 b-sides are the guys doing 'Paranoid' and 'Heaven and Hell' out in Russia and it sounds excellent! This box set is great news. Also if you haven't checked out Thorns, Tony's album from 2022, do it now because it's brilliant! He seems like such a cool guy and he's one of the best metal vocalists still out there, so let's hope he can get a band sorted and hit the road because he deserves it!
Love the Tony Martin era!
Tony Martin è uno dei miei cantanti preferiti, una voce incredibile delle linee vocali bellissime, per me è tra i migliori cantanti di sempre 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼❤️❤️❤️
I listened to remastered Forbidden song! Wow it sounded fabulous!!! Tony Martin always sounds great!
I have them all on CDs when they were first released. The chance to get the vinyl versions is great. Got mine on order cannot wait.
So looking forward to the box (vinyl for me )..all new to me with no precipitation’s….
Great interview… a really nice bloke is Tony ..🤘
I'm one that has liked forbidden as it is, I tend to listen thru the production, great songs! however, I just started listening to the remix. From the very start I am thrilled at the wonderful job that was done to remix it. Wow! Love it! Well done!
I love Forbidden as it was and as I hope it will be 😁
Tony Martin saying the remix is great makes me even more excited
thank you for this amazing interview, I am waiting nearly 30 years for fixed Forbidden :)
Should maybe try and get an interview with Ernie C 🤔
SO glad these albums will finally be widely available, I love them all. Thanks Jimmy!
May 31....cant wait to get this box set
Good interview. I like the Cross Purposes album of the Tony Martin era. I played the TYR album at the radio station, and they had it on vinyl. A couple of years ago, I had to go on CZcams to listen to Headless Cross and Forbidden. I do have Eternal Idol on cd. Twice I've watched the Cross Purposes live concert on CZcams. Ashame nothing from Born Again was sung. I think Tony is an underrated singer from Black Sabbath and is overshadowed yet did the second most albums in Black Sabbath behind Ozzy with 5 albums under his belt. You mentioned Blaze in the interview. I had the pleasure of doing a telephone interview with him on my radio show years ago. I look forward to getting a copy of the box set a physical copy to add to my cd collection. Even if it's streaming, I want the physical version. The sad part about the Judas Priest box set they omitted in streaming one of the albums Tim Ripper Owen's did with Judas Priest. What I like about Iron Maiden is that Bruce actually sings some of the Blaze era songs. That's respectful in my view.
A shame they couldn’t have worked out a deal with Warner Brothers to include The Eternal Idol in this box set. Will always feel incomplete without it.
Eternal Idol has already been released by Sanctuary Records deluxe Ed 2 disc cd who Tony Martin and Ray Gillen demos .
@@richardhincemon I am aware. Just pointing out it would have been nice to have all of the Tony Martin albums in one box set.
Really enjoying Cross Purposes . Psychophobia , Back to Eden, the Hand that rocks the Cradle !!! Love this chapter of Sabbath. Great bunch of songs and sound really fresh.
Great interview. I didn't know much about Tony Martin but he seems like a really humble, down to earth guy. I've grown to appreciate this edition of Sabbath and I'm looking forward to this box set next week.
I loved that Forbidden Album, Ice-T was awesome on The Illusion Of Power song, that middle part with the Gangsta Rap he did was cool, & Ernie C is an awesome guitarist & record producer, (btw I met Ernie C with Ice-T, Ill-Will, O.T., Vincent Price, Griz-Bear, Moose-Man, Bendrix, D-Roc The Executioner, Beat Master V, Sean-E-Sean, Sean-E-Mack, Nat The Cat & the whole Rhyme Syndicate Posse Entourage, good times at all their concerts), was happy with that Forbidden record, had some great songs: Kiss Of Death, Rusty Angels, Shaking Off The Chains, Can't Get Close Enough (loved it)! Diehard Faithful Body Count & Ice-T fanatic I am, as well as I am with Sabbath & Tin Lizzie/Thin Lizzy as you well know me by now Mr. Iommi & Mr. Martin! I personally saw Ice-T & Body Count about 20 times in concert: (Stone SF, Oakland Omni, Warfield SF with Exodus, One Step Beyond, DNA Lounge, Slim's, Townsend Club twice, {the 2nd time was when Ice-T was just a judge at a Comedy Show}, Tracadero Transfer, Club 315 with MCM & The Monster, The Filthy Filmoe Filmore West, AfterschockFest Discovery Park Sacramento, The I-Beam, SF State University, Palo Alto The Edge, 3 Shoreline Ampatheater Mountainview concerts: (1. Lalapalooza Tour with Ministry, Perry Farrell's Jane's Addiction, & the Cramps @2 nights Friday & Saturday, 2. Van's Warp Tour, & 3. Mayhem Fest Rock Star Tour with Cannibal Corpse, fun times) & also ofcourse, I saw the Forbidden World Tour, saw you guys at the San Francisco Warfield SF August 1 1995 awesome show, I bought the short-sleeve shirt with the tour dates & the long sleeve World Tour t-shirt, Cozy Powell did his awesome 1812 Overture Drum Solo & Tony Martin was true to form with his strong awesome vocals & awesome long straight jet black hair & that totally awesome 20min long guitar solo you did, oh Mr. Tony Iommi, you were totally killer & out did yourself, I mean, I've seen your guitar solos live in concert before, over 56 times at the shows but this was the first time, I ever saw & heard an earthquake rumbling connected with your solos, (rad) & you made the ground shake & cause a mini shaking Earthquake Effects, with your guitar on stage WTF Killer, which I think figured out, was some kind of shaking effects machine under the stage, to make the whole Warfield Theater shake & rumble, that was awesome, was totally surprised & was an intro to the next song, Black Sabbath good times, also saw you guys at the SJ Event Center & sorry about the Henry J. Kaiser show being cancelled but you guys did play there, I saw with Exodus during the Dehumanizer Tour 1992 great times! Mr Tony Iommi, I have a gut Jedi Instincts feeling, that you are going to reunite with Tony Martin, Neil Murray & Bobby Rondinelli for a reunion, for the Seventh Star, Eternal Idol, Headless Cross, TYR, Cross Purposes & Forbidden Album Records World Tour, I just know it & possibly play Chase Center here in my hometown San Francisco, I hope!
In conclusion Mr. Iommi, I am looking forward to that 4th solo record you are currently recording & hopefully, if your well & healthy enough, do a solo tour like possibly at the Regency Ball Room or Warfield Theater SF, that would be grand! Please Mr Tony iommi, I can't overemphasize for you, to be safe, to take care of yourself & see your MD Dr. often for your health, your family & hopefully if you are feeling energized & well up to it, play here in San Francisco again, ty Mr. Tony Iommi, you are my number#1 Metal Guitarist of all time, All Hail Mr. Tony Iommi, the Metal Riff Godfather & All Hail Sabbath & Heaven & Hell Band, The Masters Of Heavy Metal!👩🎤🧑🎤👨🎤🎸🪕🎻:⃝𖤐🤘⃤⃤⃤⩜⃝🤘⃤ ⃝𖤐🤟⃤𓆩🤘𓆪⩜⃝🤘⃤\m/⸸⁶⁶⁶⛧🤘
Hi all, Think everyone is looking forward to it. Finally the contractual worked out.
The original version of Forbidden is bloody great. The nerve, the vibe, the angst. It is what it is, and that is the sound of a band really out of their comfort zone. It draws different stuff out of people. It just has this feeling all over it of things fallin appart. It's just great.
Hey guys. Great to see you
Can't wait to get my hands on this set, but I do wish The Eternal Idol would get a re-issue.
They are my favourite Sab records. I love MArtin voice.
Listened to all of these full albums on CZcams over the past few years. I must confess that I had zero interest when these came out back in the day. Black Sabbath seemed old hat back then. Now it’s great to revisit all of this and learn all these new songs that are old. 😂😂😂
I'm finally getting back into vinyl. My first purchase, since Mob Rules, will be this new set. I hope I can finally make my peace with Forbidden. But TYR was my jam from that era.
man the metal voice still has the best opening theme! most metal possible!!! hails!
Thanks for interviewing Tony Martin.
I can't wait to get this box set on cds and vinyl. I wish they would reunite and call their band Headless cross and tour together one more time.
Never saw Sabbath at the Odeon, did see Hawkwind, Doctor Feelgood and Ted Nugent there. Looking forward to getting the box set next week, great that this era of Sabbath is getting the recognition it deserves.
My favorite Black Sabbath line-up after Dio. Forbidden is probably my number 1 off that line-up and Headless Cross is the 2nd. I REALLY loved Forbidden when it came out. And I still do. I just couldn't believe that in 1995 Black Sabbath sounded like a modern band, and not just an old band with a modern production.
RIP Cozy Powell
Thank you so much for this interview! Love hearing Tony's thoughts.
Unfortunately BMG canceled all preorders to Finland, because of high demand, so I can't get one. But congratulations on selling all the vinyl boxes in Europe!
Metals best kept secret escapes at the end of this month! Lost forever, Sabbath stones, Evil Eye - those songs smoke
Great interview. I have all the originals so I don't plan to get the boxset but am looking forward to hear the remixed version of Forbidden and yes, I do love that album including the original mix.
I’m pleased especially pleased for Tony Martin that his tenure with Black Sabbath is getting the spotlight all these years on. When I get the box set the Forbidden remix will be the first CD in my player. Black-Sabbath online have just reviewed this box set and reckon that Headless Cross comes out on top..
Great interview! I was always curious what they had done for the Gregorian chants in Anno Mundi (i.e. whether his vocals were involved at all), and I'm glad he finally talked a little bit about that. Brilliant work by Geoff Nicholls and Tony Martin
The first Black Sabbath album I ever owned was headless cross. My father bought it for me in the early nineties on cassette and I have been a fan ever since. I really hope these albums will be available on streaming platforms like tidal and qobuz.
I can’t wait to hear these albums remastered. I just turned 31 and for the longest time, I thought Sabbath was Bill,Tony,Geezer and Ozzy. As I got older and did a deep dive in the 80s era sabbath, I love the Tony era. Especially Headless Cross. As much as I can’t wait for this set to release, I’m kinda gonna be a little greedy and want the other 80s era sabbath to get a rereleases.
Bring on a remix/remasters of Born Again, the Seventh Star and The Eternal Idol 🙌🏽
Born Again, the Seventh Star and The Eternal Idol have easily available remastered editions already!!
@@Iainmaclennan70Remastered is not the same as remixing from the original master tapes recently found for the Born Again album.
It's not that they were less accepting, it's just that by the time Tony Martin came on the scene Sabbath had changed members so many times that you needed a program to keep up! This was a historical iconic legend of a band that many just lost interest in.
Nada como o tempo para resgatar esse álbum e dar o devido reconhecimento para a LENDA TONY MARTIN, injustiçado pela falta de reconhecimento nos vocais do Sabbath, mas tudo tem o seu tempo e a hora chegou. 👏👏👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🤘🤘🤘🤘
Tony Martin is the voice of classic 80s/90s metal... It's that simple
