I have never felt so angry and sad while editing a video.
The truth is, this video is old. This is not a remake. This used to be the original version of "FIRST BURN" ( • FIRST BURN - Sandstorm... ), which I created when I was cheated on six months ago. However, I scrapped it because I had drawn it while shitfaced drunk and sobbing, and I thought it looked way too sketchy (It was around the time I freaked out in public /shame).
I then remade the video entirely, which is the version you're familiar with from August 2023. All I did today was put this original drawings together and finish editing it. As you can see, many frames from this version were reused or redrawn in the newer version, as well as the original ideas, and the symbolism remains consistent: daisies symbolize love, trust, and honesty, and the color scheme remains unchanged. The storytelling differs slightly, with Spottedleaf stepping up in the newer version and the characters being more confrontational.
So why am I sharing this now, after six months? Why is it relevant again?
Because it resonates strongly with my current emotions. I released "FIRST BURN" when I first learned about the cheating. In the past six months, I've lived through hell while uncovering layers of lies and cheating from the same person. It's a year worth of cheating and abuse. I learned that the rabbit hole I was in was a lot deeper than I thought. He had many other cases of infidelity, and as I found out about them I suffered through a lot of emotional and physical abuse. Yes, not only did that person have the courage to cheat on me multiple times for a year, he also had the guts to abuse me the more I found out. I stayed in that relationship until recently. Some of the beating left my wrist so hurt I couldn't draw anymore (hence why I disappeared for so long). My heart is broken, and what I once thought I could forgive now weighs heavily on me. I doubt the person in question will see this or even care, but I've made the decision to remove him from my life and story, just as he never considered me while committing these hurtful actions. I will pretend I never knew him and burn everything he ever gave me, much like Sandstorm in the video. Yes, revisiting this after so long does make me feel anxious but it gives me a sense of closure I have been longing for.
As for Sandstorm, she discovers of Firestar's infidelity and responds accordingly. People often place blame on Spottedleaf, but in my opinion, Firestar was the one at fault. He had a family and still couldn't value them enough. Cinderpelt remains the supportive friend she was in the other video. I finally found the guts to read the comments here and the ammount of love and support from everyone made me lay down and cry. The fact that SPOTTEDLEAF HERSELF told Firestar at his nine lives ceremony to spend his life loving Sandstorm and for him to ignore her words to pine after a dead woman, making his wife, who gave him two beautiful children, the "other woman", still disgusts me. I love Firestar's character as a whole, I think he's a way more interesting protagonist than people give him credit for, but the way he treats Sandstorm and by extension his daughters is fucking sickening. How he could have this confident, skilled, willful woman who loves him with her whole heart and to treat her like he's settling for her, is just baffling.

I agree with your sentiment: Firestar should have turned Spottedleaf down and not continued to have feelings for her when he was MARRIED and had CHILDREN with another cat. It’s a HORRIBLE thing to do to someone and having Sandstorm confront him on it feels so cathartic.

ur so right about firestar being at fault. it also makes me think about how spottedleaf never shows any feelings towards him in arc 1, and how her reciprocating was a retcon. I wish they had kept her like that; uninterested in firestar and trying to push him towards Sandstorm. oh well.

@@Buggy_sharki absolutely hate that retcon, as does most of the fandom. Especially if you take Spottedleaf's Heart into account and how she is actually much older than Firestar when they met.....
During the first series, she was mysterious and almost motherly towards him. They didn't have to change it! But apparently one author really likes 'first love = true love', which is why it was retconed, but i have to find the source for that
This version feels sadder. More broken and defeated. But absolutely filled with disgust towards the one who wronged them. "First Burn'' is a lot more angry. An outburst almost. Just as if not even more disgusted at the cheater/abuser. I can feel the raw emotion from these two videos. The vulnerability...My heart goes out to you and anyone else who had to go through this. I hope you are able to heal and that you're in a better place now.

Seeing this and First Burn, it makes you wonder if Firestar really moved on from Spottedleaf or if he was just using Sandstorm as a distraction/replacement for her. Either way, it’s just sad.
I agree with Firestar being in the wrong, noting the books Spottedleaf really didn’t have feelings for him, especially when he was alive. She doesn’t want to be seen as the other girl in Starclan. Sandstorm get his ass!!

This is an absolute amazing PMV- I love your art style.
I agree, in fact I this is so close to the books it's almost not an AU. That's the sad part. For most of their early marriage/dating, Firestar was still in love with Spottedleaf, even when Sandstorm had told him she was insecure and wanted to be reassured he only loved her, his WIFE. But instead, he pursued this relationship with Spottedleaf... and if I remember correctly, Spottedleaf had to be the one to reassure HER BOYFRIEND'S WIFE (This PMV has made me realize how messed up this is ;-;) that their relationship was over.... SKIP FORWARD... Spottedleaf is dying because she saved Sandstorm, BECAUSE she wanted Sandstorm and Firestar to have a CHANCE at their relationship being a good one, and yet Firestar is distraught, saying: "I thought you would wait for me in StarClan" (that's not an exact quote, I haven't read Last Hope in a while) meaning... did he want Spottedleaf to be his mate in StarClan?

Spottedleafs love for fire firestar was retconed, in the first arc, it never shown that spottedLeaf loved firestar, And the fact that SPOTTEDLEAF HERSELF told Firestar at his nine lives ceremony to spend his life loving Sandstorm and for him to ignore her words, and love her UP UNTIL HER SECOND DEATH. and then the erins ignored that and made her love him?? like that's hella weird. She never loved him in the first arc, hell the things happened with her, the nose touching cheek, and the leaning is shown with other cats as well, Firepaw licked ravenpaws chest, Firepaw touched bluestars nose, Firepaw comforted there friends the same way, the actions spottedleaf did to him were friendsly as well, every clanmember done it, those contacts was shown to be friendly, thats how they greet each other. and when spotted'leaf visted his dreams it was for a a little to send a message from starclan, and she didnt interacted much. she never shows that she loved firepaw in the first arch. she visted him in his dreams because at that time she was the only one firepaw knew, and trusted, and when others died that he trusted and knew they also showed up in his dreams.
story short, Spotted leaf falling in love with firestar was HIGHLY most likely a retcon, in the frist arch she never liked him, she saw him like any other cats, the first arch she barley had a full conversation with firepaw, and heart. she didn't love him. touching muzzles was something for friends. which is stupid, why Retcon her liking him? when in the first arch it never shown, it all shown was that Fire paw had a crush on her which is normal for kids to have, and the first arch was based on the third person POV on fire star, it doesn't tell others thoughts just his own.
why the hell would they even retcon that when there is legit no evidence in the first arch. the only "Evidence" is Spotted leaf honest ansewer. which no one should take as cannon, theres so much plot holes in it, its three pages, and it doesnt make much sense, the reason it was there was for people to win a wallpaper, the sight isnt even up for it, and its been gone for ALOT of years

I agree with this heavily, sandstorm was feisty at first, but she was a teenager, she didn’t no any better, and firestar didn’t really pay attention to her feelings or how she felt about things. But other than that your art just keeps getting better and amazing keep it up‼️‼️ and I’m deeply so sorry, I read the description. Also kudos to you for being able to be strong enough to do that. Some women are too scared/hopeful to end things off. Some are scared of the backlash from the man or the public but some are hopeful he'll come back.
No. He won't. Sure, some people change, but it's not over the course of a month to change behavior like that. If he cheats on you once, he'll do it again and again. I really hope he gets the karma he deserves.

My mom was married to a guy who was so horrible and abusive, but when she broke it off, they remained somewhat in contact. Several years later, the same guy had a kid and they dropped her off at my mom's house cuz she said she'd watch her. The guy saw my mom kiss my dad and he got super salty about it. He called my mom a cheater cuz he expected her to come back to him for over 10 YEARS 💀
Some say he's still waiting for my mom to return (It's been well over 20 years by now lol)

Sandstorm is literally so underrated it angers me
I am so sorry for what you had to go through. As someone who was only ever semi-cheated on (I considered it emotional cheating but many people did not, regardless it was hurtful and I was lied to) and had some of the worst depression and anxiety of my life over it, I can't imagine going through what you did combined with the abuse. You did not deserve that and I just know you will find the loyal person you deserve one day, if you haven't already.
This PMV is beautiful and heart-wrenching. It's kind of a nice breath of fresh air, I hardly ever see Firestar portrayed as being in the wrong when it comes to the whole Spottedleaf and Sandstorm thing, or an AU where Spottedleaf lived and he cheated on Sandstorm with her. I love your style and all the emotion you put into this, it's really inspired me to try and pick up drawing again.

I sort of fault both firestar and spottedleaf..efterall she was a grown woman hitting on a child in his dreams, and then preying after him even when he had children. It was gross on her part..but firestar is also 100% to blame for not giving her up and even QUESTIONING who wanted to be with in starclan as he laid next to his wife and children, he's equally as gross! It's shameful they had to kill spottedleaf JUST so he'd stay faithful..it was all around bad writing and I feel horrible for sandstorm..you portrayed it perfectly, 'm sorry you went through something very similar. ❤
If anything, Spotted and Fire deserve eachother. Yeah Firestar was bad, but I feel like Spotted was just as bad, if not *worse*- if she hadn’t kept pursuing him, reminding him at every chance of what “could have been”, I don’t think he would have been so horribly ignorant of Sandstorm. It was a child hood crush that she only made fester, and it ruined his relationship.
Well. They are cats. I have a cat that is mates with my other cats when they are like 6 years apart. So there’s nothing wrong with it unless they are actually human beings-

Cats may be non-monogamous in reality, but in Warriors it's been established that their relationships are like humans. They literally use medicine. Cats don't do that. Nor do they gather at full moon.

Since I commented on the last video I figured I would comment on this one-anyways, even though this is a lot sketchier I still really like how it looks, I think it even adds to it at some parts lol
Some of my favorite frames are 1:19 (its really cute despite the context), 1:49 (I love kitty cats hugging), 2:06 (it just looks really cool), 2:47 (again, looks cool and I love it with the lyrics), 2:58 (looks cool x3 and it might sound weird but I love how you drew the paw) and 3:16 (round little babies Leafkit and Squirrelkit + the burned photo effects are really neat)
Anyways even though these two are actually one of my favorite couples I think Sandstorm should be allowed to yell at her husband at least once. as a treat

I personally prefer first burn rather than burn but both are good. This version is more mellow and I like it. The first burn version has some different lyrics and there are multiple different people singing it. (The songs not the video) // (still love the video tho ❤️)
I hope you can find peace when it comes to you, it's not easy to deal with what you've been put through. You never deserved to be treated like you were - no one should ever 'deserve it'. Burn him from your life & make a better one for yourself, & know that you can become better & stronger, for yourself & others that you choose to have in your life, those that deserves to be there.

This is beautiful! I hope people remember none of this actually happened though. In truth they loved each other, they went on regular night walks / hunts and could often be found cuddling w/ each other. Firestar loved SpottedLeaf it’s not a secret everyone knew even Sandstorm. But that doesn’t mean he treated her like second best. Sandstorm loved him very much and was devastated when he died. No one can blame or be mad at him for falling in love and having feelings for SpottedLeaf, that’s not something you can control or stop whenever you want to. Emotions will happen whether you want them to or not. But he moved on and fell in love w/ Sandstorm. She was never a front and center character but she wasn’t a push over either. Their relationship worked for them. It might not be what the rest of us had in mind but it’s what they wanted and how they showed their love. Our version of what a good relationship is might not be theirs and that’s okay.

I'm sorry for what happened to you, when toxic people drag us into their orbit, they know how to make sure we stay in it by using both our best and worst qualities against us and our own common sense and our human compassion. Challenge: Watch this video, then reread Spottedleaf’s death scene and realize Firestar totally would have chosen Spotted in StarClan, and she absolutely would have agreed. Spotted also deserves to be dragged, especially in that one scene where she’s talking to Leafpaw for the first time and is like, “lol I wish you weren’t born so I could get with your dad.” Like. I’m sorry. WHAT. SPOTTEDLEAF YOU CAN’T SAY THAT TO A LITERAL CHILD-
It's worse when you realize Fire was a kid at beat thirteen and Spottedleaf was in her thirties and the age gap is oof. He was groomed and cat therapy needed to exist.
@@Topdoggie7I will say I don’t agree with that bc we don’t see any grooming behavior from Spotted like we did with Thistle constantly giving her gifts and visiting her as a kitten. She also only showed romantic interest AFTER she died, and Fireheart was an adult warrior. I don’t mind the age gap as much as I just think her deciding to come down and constantly interfere with his life and marriage EVEN THOUGH SHE’S DEAD is the crappy part.

It was a crush that went to far. He realised later on that it was wrong and stopped. After that I think it was just a fondness for her, he never had real feelings for her after Firestars Quest when he was confronted with it. He literally told Sandstorm she wasn’t the other woman, that he loved HER and not some dead woman. I think he mentioned a bit about why? But I could be wrong. I didn’t like FQ
