  • There's a part of the sports cards community that will NEVER use EBay Standard Envelope. They'll NEVER ship a card using a PWE but I'm really curious to why? And the its too easy for a sports card to get damaged in a PWE reason isn't cutting it.
    We're also going to keep talking about EBay being unethical, today its because of the fees. Are they taking advantage of us sellers?

    As someone who has filled out sales tax forms in Florida (each county has different rates) be glad someone else is doing it for you! As far as cross posting low end cards on Mercari and eBay, my question would be would the hassle of delisting on the platform it did not sell on negate any advantage? I have listed a few on eBay and some different ones on Mercari. One thing I dislike is ordering a single card and getting a message that says- Sorry, I must have sold that on a different platform- and getting the order cancelled.

      the time factor in paying every state, let alone counties! is so undervalued.. the big thing to crosslisting is to use a 3rd party software that also delists when its sold on another site BUT thats of course another expense

    I have sent many single card orders with a penny sleeve and card savers. I have not had any buyers file a damage claim.

    As always you have great videos and I still watch them while riding home from work. I love shipping ESE/PWE. I pack them almost the same way you do and I have great feedback on my shipping. I use a half sheet of paper, tape the card with painters tape to the paper, wrap the card with the paper, then I print a packing slip on a 4x6 thermo label and wrap that around the paper to keep it all together, I then put my shipping label on the flap side of my Walmart envelope. It’s pretty quick and looks great and they stay safe. Thanks for all the tips and keep up the great work!

    I've never had a damaged card come back to me using a PWE. On the other hand, I have had a damaged shipment using a bubble mailer.

    The reason eBay charges on shipping is because back in the day, people were charging $1 for and item and then $50 shipping to avoid fees. eBay caught on and started charging for the cost of shipping as well.

    I agree with everything your saying but it would be nice if ebay would waive the 30 cent fee for cards 2 dollars and under

      it would be extremely nice but i get it they've got the credit card processing fees

    I PWE all the time, never had a damage complaint.
    I do disagree that a bubble mailer isn't safer, but it just isn't necessary in most cases for inexpensive cards.

    I've been shipping PWE for 9 years myself and only came across 3 people say cards arrived damaged out of 52,000 shipments. 2 of them were fake complains saying the card like Prizm is curved or not straight when all Prizm cards are curved like that. Only 1 legit complain.

    Here’s my take again. I go all out when shipping even PWE honestly. It’s the right thing to do. But I do not use a bubble mailer for cards below $20. I take the $2 card, penny sleeve and toploader first. Painters tape over toploader and in a team bag. Thin foldable cardboard covering the card. Taped inside of a sheet of paper and in the envelope. Only 1oz! Might seem like too much or too thick but it’s never been returned and I have all positive feedback about my packaging.

    On the fee being charged on the sales tax, I also was questioning that myself, but as a CPA in real life, I just considered that a small fee for eBay to be handling all the sales tax reporting for me. That way I don't need to get a re-seller number from my state and possibly multiple states and then try to figure out sales BY STATE and file the necessary reports to each state. So to me, that small fee is well worth eliminating the headache and hassle that I would need to do personally.

    I sell low end on Mercari also. I don’t cross post, but put different cards there. I stick to stars, rookies, and inserts. I get way more sales on eBay than I do on Mercari. But I keep more of each sale that I make on Mercari. I also use sportlots auctions. I believe in using any platform available to move inventory and make money.

    Ebay does not charge a fee on shipping if you offer free shipping & then purchase the label. Now if you do charge shipping as part of your sale, then yes, they will charge a fee for that.

    • @SamuelJ888
      @SamuelJ888 Před 7 měsíci +1

      Well although true, if you offer free shipping, you are covering that additional cost. So you're just substituting fees or shipping

    • @TheFlippingSportsGuy
      @TheFlippingSportsGuy  Před 7 měsíci

      i agree with Sam on this one, no matter what you offer free or paid, you are paying a fee on the shipping.

    When I look to buy $10 or less sport cards...I will turn down everyone who is above 1.25 shipping charge. It is not worth to pay for shipping that is the same amount of the card.

    Love your videos and advice! I’ve gotten real comfortable selling regular cards using pwe. I was wondering if you do anything different for thicker cards and relics? I’ve been hesitant to list these using eBay standard envelope due to their rigidity and larger top loader. Thanks!

    • @SamuelJ888
      @SamuelJ888 Před 7 měsíci +1

      I've shipping several relics and only ever had just one returned. I think it was my fault for insufficient funding. Aside from that, there has been no issues.😊

      @johnnym415-rn3ct Před 7 měsíci +1

      I ship those in a Card Saver 1. Haven’t had any issues so far. Just make sure the envelope isn’t over 1/4” thick, that’s when you will probably run into a problem.

      Ive had multiple Contenders Relics get stuck in the ESE automated sorting machines ruining & bending the cards in half being total losses... A Tua & Hurts contenders rookie relic... So I've stopped offering ESE on relics & thicker card stock bc to high of a loss rate personally both seller & buyer side. I've tried both toploaded & just semi-rigids.

      @TheFlippingSportsGuy  Před 7 měsíci +1

      i do the same as what johnny mentioned, i use a card saver I and typically dont have issues. i use my judgement though, if i feel like a card may be thick enough to cause issues then i'd just charge shipping and ship via a bubble mailer

    I have pounds of low end ultra modern stuff that would sell for a few bucks each. I just don't have label maker, or even a laptop. I do sell a few lots and bigger cards on eBay, using my phone. Im gonna have to break over and join the PWE army. I rarely ever buy anything with over $1 shipping. However I never sell anything that way. I have to use the QR codes for tracking purposes. I am getting some good ideas from your videos. 👍

    i have never had a card damage using pwe. i always give the customer the option on shipping on pwe or an upgraded shipping option. not once has the customer ever choose the upgraded shipping. now on the other hand, i have had lost cards in the mail. thankful i have always have the tracking so i can file a claim. my only issue is this only happens with my ebay pwe and not my other website pwe service and i have shipped about the same amount of orders.

    I have been sending PWE since 1986.... I get very few damaged. even with no protection... no penny sleeve ... no toploader or anything. I have only had problems when I send in a top loader with PWE>

      What I have been doing to shipping my PWE on Ebay now is I find Invitations and Cards at thrift stores and use that card with a cardsaver... Works great. I can usually get like 8-10 cards for a quarter they usually come with an envelope as well...

    I was 100% anti PWE but ever since finding your channel 3 weeks ago that has totally changed I’ve sold 70+ cards on eBay and was able to buy new awesome stuff for the PC from selling random cards I had in boxes!! Keep it up

    Question: Usually I am a here and there ebay seller, but I have acquired a lot of inventory from ripping boxes with my sons. I decided to do a store recently to get rid of some of the growing bulk, but every time I do a promotion for 20% for 4+ volume items it never displays the promotion on the items like other sellers. I am not sure why. feedback is 100% plus close to 800 total feedback and Top rated seller rating.

    I Ship PWE or Ebay Standard Envelope and I've been having the issue where some of the envelopes never scan while in transit or don't get a delivery conformation. Now my funds are on hold until delivery can be confirmed. My questions are will my funds be released after the 21-30 day hold time without the conformation? (I've received positive feedback on these orders as they where delivered) If the funds are held until conformation which will never happen because they already received the card, Is there anything I can do to get my funds released?? Or is there a comparable shipping service on Ebay that will scan?
