Lyrics:
You don't know, you don't know what it's like
No you don't, honey no you don't know
You don't know what it's like
To love anybody
Oh honey, I want to talk about love
And trying to hold somebody
The way I love you babe
And I've been loving you babe
#JanisJoplin #ToLoveSomebody #Rock
Janis really, really shows just what it means to put feeling into a song-she sings with her heart and soul and holds nothing back, it's all out there.
There's none greater than Janis. The soul, the passion, the rawness. Every song brings chills.
L í
I hope that's all be ok after all theses years... ❤🇧🇷
A melhor. The best!!
I second that bro...
You are so right. I don't care about this new generation with their rap and pants dropped showing their underwear and these songs about sex, killing and calling themselves the "N" word. I rather stick with the old fasion way and music. "Janis Joplin,The Doors, Led Zepplin, Scorpions, Rolling Stones just to mention a few. I only ask of you and with all respect I personally don't know you but I believe you understand what I'm saying. Let's keep these lejends alive!
i swear my generation misses out on such good music. im 15 yrs old and listening to barely anything from today. i cant live without 60s/70s rock i just cant it’s part of my soul ☮️✌🏻
My son passed away 2 years ago at age 25. He was autistic but verbal and his love of Classic Rock and Classic R & B was our primary form of communication.
I hope you have friends and family who appreciate an old soul like you, God bless.
@tristiancanales3540 Welcome to the old soul club brother, sit back and keep enjoying the past!
it aint that deep brother, just shut up and listen to the music
omg me too im 14
@@bacalhauzin8035 it is deep
Some people are born with hearts that just can't handle the world as it is. Janis was one of those souls.
I saw Janis 2 times. Spetacular!!!!!!!!!!!!! Southern Comfort. R I P star in the sky Janis. P Vermont
Robert Chappell boy you said it... ,and I relate to her for 53 years. This life is difficult. I bleed for just about everyone JANIS DID TOO ❤️❤️❤️💔💔💔⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
❤❤❤❤

RIGHT ON! SHE WAS SO FRAIL INSIDE.
Every word, every note she sings, sounds as if she has lived it, no matter who wrote it. What masterpieces might she have created if she had lived longer?
To think she died at 27. The definition of an old soul.
At 70 years old, I have heard a lot of good music. Early rock, 60s rock and blues. Southern rock, country and other great times. My taste is blues based. Janis had one of the best blues voices ever. Her music reminds me of Etta James. She died so young.
true
Yeah, Etta could sing stuff that I wouldn't want to be in front of, but with Janis I would be OK with. Hope that makes sense to ya, old-timer. Peace, James - you da Man.
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️. Janis...thank Hod for Janis. I love this song...but Janis....omg.
Have you listened much to foreign music? I love blues myself, one of my favourite singers is czeslaw niemen. He has a mix of songs from blues to progressive rock, soul and fusion, so much. His best song is 'Dziwny Jest Ten Swiat'. There are two versions, Polish one is better. I really do recommend it though. :)

I often wonder about the amazing music she would have accomplished in her life had she not died so young. That voice, I never tire of it...there are times that it moves me to tears. You can feel her life in every song. She puts the prefab fluff put out today to shame.
Of all the interpretations for this song, this performance by Janis is visceral. It's wonderful! *She sings with her heart and soul (she begs for the love she needs to be happy, she begs but that love doesn't come.. we can feel it in her voice, in her lament)!* If we listen to all the interpreters, including the Bee Gees (owners of this masterpiece), we couldn't identify "the same pain, the same feeling, despite dealing with the same music". Isn't that incredible? Nina Simone, Michael Bolton, Michael Bublé and many others singers.. and, even so, "we don't find that same pain and supplication, in search of a great love".. wow, it's an impressive performance! How not to love this blues goddess, with her torn and powerful voice moving us with this beautiful blues? Impossible to hear "To Love Somebody" in Janis's voice and not repeat it, over and over again! It's so beautiful! Thank you sweet Janis! You are timeless in all your songs and more the ones you recorded as a performer! I love you forever!🌹😘💜👏👏👏
This version is good but I am addicted to the time Janis sang this on the Dick Cavett show, check it out on CZcams, such power and emotion that came from that tortured soul. It's funny that Dick Cavett, the antithesis of Janis, simply adored his little songbird.
@@tomp.7725 But this version, "is the authentic version of her performance on The Dick Cavett Show". And yes, they were very good friends. Dick Cavett adored her. I have a "compiled dvd" of her last three performances on that show. Her Instagram profile posted this version. It's very moving to watch her singing this song live! It's visceral, it's too beautiful!! ❣️🥰
@@LuBlueswhat about the original version from The Bee Gees
Only Janis and Nina sang from that green chackra heart 💚 space
Right said! PASSION!
There is a light and it is still shining on you beautiful Janis
Happy 80th birthday Janis Joplin!!!

Awesome comment
Janes canta cm a alma nossa rainha do rock...❤❤❤✌
There's a light, certain kind of light
Never ever, never shone on me, no, no
Honey, I want, I want my whole life
To be lived with you, babe
That's what I want oh, was to be
Living and loving you
There's a way, oh everybody say
You can do anything, every thing yeah
But what good, what good
Honey, what good could it ever bring
Because I haven't got you with my love
And I can't find you babe, no I can't
You don't know, you don't know what it's like
No you don't, honey no you don't know
You don't know what it's like
To love anybody
Oh honey, I want to talk about love
And trying to hold somebody
The way I love you babe
And I've been loving you babe
In my brain, oh I can see your face again
I know my frame of mind, yeah
But nobody, nobody has to ever be so blind
Honey, like I did, I know I was blind
Honey, I tell you that I was, I was very, very blind
Oh but I'm just a girl
Can't you just take a look at me and tell
Tell that I live, honey I live and I breathe for you
Don't you know I do!
But what good, what good
Honey, what good could it ever bring
Because I haven't got you with my love
And I can't find you babe, no I can't
You don't know, you don't know what it's like
No you don't, honey no you don't know
You don't know what it's like
To love anybody
Oh honey, I want to talk about love
And trying to hold somebody
The way I love you babe
And I've been loving you babe
Oh, I know that there's a way
Because everybody came to me one time and said
"Honey, you can do anything
Every little thing, and I think I can
Oh, but what good, what good
Honey, what awfully good can it ever, ever bring
Because I can't find you with my love
And I can't find you babe, oh anywhere
You don't know, you don't know what it's like
No you don't, honey no you don't know
You don't know what it's like
To love anybody
Oh honey, I want to talk about love
And trying to hold somebody
The way I love you babe
And I've been loving you babe
You don't know, you don't know what it's like
No you don't, honey no you don't know
You don't know what it's like
To love anybody
Oh honey, I want to talk about love
And trying to hold somebody
The way I love you babe
And I've been loving you babe
thanks for the lyrics so i can sing along to them
I’m not lonely, just broke mostly, but I do enjoy singing with people.
Thank you! The words deserve to be seen as well as heard.
thanks Anna
Merci!
If she would have lived longer not one singer would have ever matched the greatness she would of achieved. Her voice is like no other. Aa lot of singer's have tried and done pretty good singing her songs but came only close no one sounds likes this woman. You are still missed Janis Joplin
I still don't know of a better singer to this day 2023
When she brushed her teeth and spit that first mouthful of water, THAT mouthful has more talent than ALL of the so-called artists on the Top 40 today.
No contest!
Janis did not sing songs, she was the song, the spirit and soul of it. That's why she'll never fade
It's comforting to know this phenomenal spirit is still among us, in a sweeter place that only ever feels good. Love you, Janis. You really gave it your all and so many days you help me feel less alone in this horrible world. xo
Love you too
Just plain can’t fake the soul and blues ‘ol pearl had… vibrating on a higher frequency
This is so awesome that Janis covered a bee gees song!!😊😊
Transformou uma linda balada dos Bee Gees numa peça fantástica de soul music. Genia!
Listen to Nina Simone version
Janis ❤your music changed the world and poured your heart and life into it RIP Janis 🙏
2022 hearing this masterpiece in a rainy morning Janis you're great
To Love Somebody from one of the greatest musical artists of all time. She has a way of reaching out and touching someone that makes me know that even though she livef a short life it definately was a full live where she has been able to reach out and touch anyone for all eternity. With her music and style in the way she sings she will definately live on in the hearts of so many.
Amen to everyone and the comments here. Special stuff from Janis Joplin at a special time.
Janis's unique voice touches my so💕
Janice feels every note. ❤
I remember being a young boy of about 12....I got this song on an album and MAN I was hooked on Janis.....I bet I wore out that lp! Such great memories...
I first heard this song in 1967, it was everything I loved on a romantic song. To this day it is my mantra. Today I stumbled upon this treasure and it has me gobsmacked that this was something I missed from Janis' recordings. I consider this a triumph.
She was the queen of the blues!
What a shame she left this world so soon!
Love ya Janis!

This is humongous...
That girl...
One of a kind...
Awesome singer. You can surely feel her music and she will live on forever.
And I was born too late...damn, music from the 60s was incredible; nothing like the autotuned crap I hear now a days. The Beatles, Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, The Rolling Stones, Janis Joplin, Jackson Browne, Jimi Hendrix, The Who, Aretha Franklin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lou Reed..I could go on and on. Thank GOD the music has been preserved; still it must have been a fantastic time to be young. Makes me wish I had been born 50 years ago.
Wondering if you've seen the documentary The Cockettes.

Janis emotes so much truth and feeling in her songs...the crap on the radio today pales to Janis and other blues singers
Pure soul from Janis-unadulterated. 100% HEART!!!
To the person I've been with for 10 years... 💔 ...."you don't know, you don't know what it's like to love anybody. I just want you to know I tried"-Janis Joplin
the white godess of blues
Yes she is😊
When I was 15 in the 90's (long after she was gone- I know boomers!) I, and many of my peers LOVED this music! It was weird digging music we were just a bit too late for. Spent the 90's listening to The Beatles, The Doors, and Janis. Raw soul, and chops here. I learned so much about playing through listening to this.
Ouvindo janis sinto a presença do meu pai aqui comigo. Que um dia ja esteve entre nós e que, era um grande fã de Janis.

Janis left us too soon. Thanks for the memories. Greatest rhythm and blues singer ever lived. 🙏❤
She got so much soul. Wish she was here now.
raw emotional singing anazing
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANIS
This song is so true ,most of the time whether male or female there is someone who loves them more than life it self. It may be considered unhealthy for someone to fill the way you do about the one you love. You will do things for that person that you wouldn't do for yourself. When this fine beautiful woman sings her song you can tell she needs a love to help her though her problems.
Janis had a voice you could close ur eyes and just listen x
Amen ❤️
Beautiful and unique singer ! She deserved to live longer and she lives in our hearts when we lisent to her. Love is the meaning of life and she knew it !
When I lived in the Haight Ashbury I used to pass by in front the place were she lived sometime near by. I arrived too late to meet her in the street.
I just got the last breath of those years that changed the world. Not far from there had lived also Jimmy Hendrix, and there was a little museum called '' the Jimi Hendrix church''..
When I think of those years, in my boring life in Paris I feel like it was a dream. I thought that was life and that it was like this any where. I was wrong. I never found a place like San Francisco those days. I went back but it was not he same.. the magic had gone. There are times in life..that are unique.
Raw passion
Janis the best!!
She drained each note dry of emotion . Great vocalist , so powerful.
The uncomparable Janis Joplin everything a blues diva should be she stands with the greats...raw...direct...heart wrenching
She doesn't sing the blues she preaches it...God rest her soul

I was recently introduced to her works. Nice, very, very nice. The good ones always die before coming full circle in their musical career.
+jeanyrios We still have many left, thank goodness. The sad thing is,it was not just drug use that killed them,it was us and the pressure we put on them by wanting more (concert sells, new albums/music etc.).The managers and such did not help at the time at all, sad, but true.
