    The link length is to properly position the axle under the truck. If it’s at stock height with the longer arms then the axle will be further away than intended. Conversely, if you keep the stock links at the lifted height the axles will be pulled in more than intended.
    So if you want that drop but at the stock height, the. Just delimit the long arm shocks and use them on stock suspension geometry.

  • @monkfry
    @monkfry Před 5 lety +1

    I did this to my Bronco about 6 months ago. I removed the limiters but I didn’t think about using softer springs 🤔. I just took some load off of the stock springs. Good idea though, I’ll get the red cats and check it out. I had to cut maybe 3/32” off of the front and rear of the bottom outer fenders to get my 2.2s to clear during severe articulation. The fender shave is barely noticeable. I also raised the rear bumper up to get rid of the huge gap the lift kit left and mounted it in as far in as possible to eliminate vertical bumper drag. It crawls waaaay better than stock. 👍

If you think you’re going to have a problem with assembly/disassembly do it anyway. Break parts, modify, fail, fail again, get closer, break parts, modify again, Win!! and learn. I’ve had a lot of mod fails on my build over the years but it articulates like I want it to now. My friend has a stock Bronco and I crawl over tons of stuff that he can’t. I also installed a Hobbywing quicrun fusion FOC 2 in 1 motor. That’s been one of the best upgrades so far IMO. It Hauls Asss and also crawls super slow.

    Can you accomplish a similar thing if you use 100mm shocks only? With soft springs and adjusting the preloads for ride height, you could gain 0.4 inches in droop.. Could be worth a try.. I flipped my bumper mounts (raised my bumpers), then raised my body 1/2 inches, and used 14mm spacers and longer screws to raise my running boards up to the rocker panels, then turned my preloads out to lower the center of gravity 1/8 inch, to offset the body height. Only down side is I lost 1/8 inch ground clearance dead center in the truck but the running boards are still higher for more rock clearance and the approach and departure angles are better.. Most of this was all free other than the aluminum spacers and longer screws.. I may also add some weight out on the running boards (principle of levers), to further stabilize, and cut down side roll.. (same principle as a high wire walker uses a long pole, or a kids teeter totter board, where the further out you get from the pivot point the more leverage is applied with minimum weight).. I would like your thoughts on 100mm shocks..

I've been putting in some heavy research on the Traxxas lift kit. The difference between your TRX with the lift and others that I've seen in night and day different. The flex is great, but your rig seems to be so much lower than others that I've seen. Are the only modifications that you made to the lift: the removal of the spacer, the lighter springs, and the lighter weight oil? Or, did you do something else to lower the body of the truck? I'm really interested in the kit, but only if I can duplicate your performance and results. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and keep up the AMAZING videos!!

      So there is a 10mm spacer on the shock shafts that is removed to get the full travel.
      A much softer spring set was used. This one is the stock springs from the Redcat Gen 8. Thee is room to raise and lower the vehicle.
      1.9 wheels work just fine for sure. There is plenty of room for articulation. Ride height can be maintained to same same as stock if desired.
      The servo horn and panhard link is adjusted so there's no collision at full travel.
      The stock springs are very hard so there's no sag. And the 10mm spacer is there so 2.2 tires don't hit the wheel wells.

      @@RCReviewChannel we got a bit of a break here in Michigan with the weather. I did this to my trx4 sport. 1.9 hyrax and the incision plastic beadlocks. No added weight and it made everything easy with snow on the ground at that. The scx10's were no match with this long arm kit and awesome tires. Was to easy I had to look for other lines to give the truck a challenge.

    Do you run the od/ud mod in the bronco with the 2 speed and lift kit? Does it perform fine with 2 speed ?

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  Před 5 lety

      No od/ud mod on this one which is almost all stock.
      Od/Ud mod will work great for crawling. For high speed, it will be more stress with the wheel speed difference. Gears will be fine though since hardened steel.

      The kit has two sets of rod ends, comes with the links set up for the shorter wheelbase installed. If you remove them and install the longer rod ends, it will work on the longer wheelbase.

    I did exactly what you said.
    have u realized that when your truck is fully stopped, then you start going foward you gonna see the back of the truck pushing the suspension down, the you go backwards it go up to normal again , then foward and start pushing down ... I dont know whats happening, does someone is having or did realized that???

    • @RCReviewChannel
      @RCReviewChannel  Před 4 lety +1

      I believe what is happening is the oil is too heavy for a light spring. So the spring is not able to return the shock on its own. Lighter shock oil will help/fix. It comes with a stock 35wt so maybe 20wt is better.

    • @LacerdaX10
      @LacerdaX10 Před 4 lety

      @@RCReviewChannel thank u for responding, but thats not the case, I have 35 oil, and the springs actually returns as long as I stop or reverse the car, then if I go foward it happens again, it seems something mechanic/physics, I did it 1000 times laid in the ground in front of it , whatched back and forth (very slow ) , I even tried to put the shorter links (just the 2 on top out of the 4), because it seemed that the whole axis was twisting on its own axis toward the front which was dropping pressure and pulling the suspension as a result...
      the links changing didn't work , now I don't know what to do !
