  • A quick demo on dismantling the Behringer Crave Semi-Modular monophonic analog/analogue synth.
I've been wanting to add modifications to the Crave for as long as I can remember, in this review of its insides and build quality I check to see whether or not I have space for what I'd like to be modified...
And there is..! But only just..!
Whilst I was in there I got a chance to see what trim pots are available and to take a peek at some of the other Cool Audio chips... There are some up-close and personal pics of these at the end of the video..!
Please, feel free to Like, Comment with any questions, and if you've found this interesting in any way the consider Subscribing with the Bell for updates on this project.
Be sure to check out the rest of my Channel for ungodly amounts of other stuff, and as always, Many thanks..!!

I've had my Crave for about 8 months now and It is my Daily driver and gets a lot of abuse. I can be rough on the patch bay, pots and switches and so far no issues. I'm constantly finding something new and making patches is fun. It sounds great on its own but really comes alive when you add some effects pedals. I use a Mooer Red Hat multi-stop it brings the Crave to another level.

Excellent video. Was thinking of making a new panel from sheetmetal someday. I would likely run the holes with a milling machine, but it seems like it would be quite a hassle. The manual has a nice 2d CAD template for reproducing the layout. The unit is very neatly designed. They must have a heck of a design department! They must be having fun.

Interesting video that got me thinking. Since you have both the Crave and Model D, would you say the filters sound the same?
Both machines are 'inspired' by Moog synths, so if my Craving for some Moog sounds becomes strong enough, would the Crave be another alternative to the D or a Eurorack ladder filter in your opinion?

I can't come up with any suggestions on this one Pete, other than to check that the buttons are clicking as they normally do, and not stuck/lost their springiness. Having said all that, page 9 of the manual does mention about needing the correct settings for Prog Chg or Bank Sel, which need to be switched on otherwise the sounds will not change when pressing the usual buttons, which sounds like what's happening with yours.
