Travis invented the goblin vocals
Travis Ryan has, hands down, the best vocals in the entirety of metal, and I'll fight anyone who says otherwise. If this is your first time listening, for sure give them more listens. Kingdom of Tyrants for sure, Death Atlas.. Prophets of Loss.. bathe in the glory that is Travis (oh and the rest of the band is insane too, especially the drummer)
Caught them live last October in London. Not a beat dropped, no vocal fuck ups. Flawless.
For me it's a toss-up between Travis and Dave Hunt.

These guys give you the whole package - Travis' vocals range is insane, and he has a very unique sound with these raspy half cleans that no other band can replicate.
The drumming is insane, the guitars fit perfectly and their lyrics have a very real meaning to them.

I use to not like this band, but my brother convinced me a few years ago to listen to their newest album at the time Anthroprocene Extinction and i was actually blown away. The vocalist is Travis Ryan and he has to be the most unique metal vocalist. This sing is off their newest album Death Atlas which is really amazing. Song recommendations from this band. Kingdom of Tyrants, One Day Closer to the End of the World, Pacific Grim or The Uneraseable Past-A short film(it’s a combination of 2 songs The Unerasable Past and Death Atlas) i don’t think i will ever get tired of the ending to Death Atlas!!
Same. Monolith was the first album of theirs I truly enjoyed, and Anthropocene and Death Atlas make an incredible trio.

Times cruel curtain is another awesome track from the Death Atlas album which is brilliant. Not suitable for life from The Anthropocene Extinction is also a very good song.

Astute of you to spot the punk influences - Cattle Decapitation absolutely has a strong grindcore element to their sound, and grindcore was basically a fusion of punk and death metal in the late 80s. Strong tradition of social commentary and railing against environmental destruction and animal cruelty in grindcore, themes that are near and dear to Cattle Decapitation's heart.
You guys brought up the goblin vocals. I started listening to Lorna shore because I heard will in Travis
The song Death Atlas off of this album is really good, plus the video is excellent as well. Might be worth it for a follow-up.
I saw these guys live before everything went to shit and they were so fucken good. I got a vip pass so I got to meet them as well and they're really nice down to earth guys
The whole Death Atlas album is a fukken banger. Definite soundtrack for 2020 because they released it 2019 and then this whole covid-19 shit just began. Perfect timing. And this music video cracks me up every time. You should listen the whole album if you haven't already but Time's Cruel Curtain is one of the standout tracks for me. It's kind of their "ballad" of that album if you can say so about Cattle Decap song.

This song was written just a month or so before the coronavirus even existed. Their European tour was canceled and it was called the europandemic tour.

Old cattle Decapitation sounds different from the new stuff but all of it still great
Definitely old cattle’s more grind and pure filth.
While new Cattle is more melodic one could say but not pure filth anymore. They’ve changed from pure filth to more a hard hitting type instrumental behind Travis Vocals. And more clean with the instrumentals, that’s another huge change I’ve noticed.

I love Human Jerky. Think it's just ridiculous lol but I feel that when they did To Serve Man, they'd already decided they wanted to be more death metal and head in that direction, but they were young and inexperienced and didn't know how to get to the sound they wanted, so it took a while for them to _really_ nail it down. The Harvest Floor is when it finally clicked, imo, and everything since then (and including it) has been stellar and a natural progression to that sound (albeit THF was still very grind-y).

That’s Travis Ryan speaking on his “clean” vocals and basically telling you it’s not really clean if you’re interested he gives 2 examples near the end of clean and then what his vocals sound like without anything playing.
Also he came up with those vocals and currently is the only person that can do them.
