I did see A-Trak's routine that inspired this, but this cat took it to another level. Being that your limited in trying to hit every actual note (A-G) like a musical instrument, you have to have a variety of scratches in your aresnal. This guy does. Not everyone can pull this off. Keep practicing everyone, keep being creative, and keep vinyl alive. (NYC) One
man thats off the hook. what is the tear he does throughout this... for example at 53 seconds... man this guy is one of the best scratchers in the business and humble with it.
Holy shit. This is just as technical (if not more so) as Qbert, but with way more musical rhythm. He's got his cuts synched up so well to the melody of the track.
@Inkv7 I've always wondered what Tigerstyle meant by that. I'm pretty sure he's talking about the way the scratches match the melody of the song. I know A-trak has had albums out but I haven't really heard them so I don't know if he's referring to a song on one of those. The best I can come up with is that he's talking about A-trak's ITF battle against Prime Cuts. If I'm not mistaken, I think it was the 1999 World finals, Advancement category. Yes, yes - it is like if my brother (Dj-S-trix) comes in a speedy various way to make his - sometimes for my ears - strange - music.. but it is art.. ty.. go on
man, tigerstyle is def one of my favorite skratchers. it's interesting to see his finger placement when going from hamster to reg. seems reg he uses his middle and ring more, where hamster he uses combo of index and middle. interesting how he switches between the two. i can only think of my cuts in hamster. i've noticed his transform stutters are quicker on reg where open fader skratches seem to be where he switches it up. i'd love to hear why he decided to switch up between the two styles.
This was pretty sick...I also like the A-track vid...I was wondering if anyone has heard the scratches in the song "Imaginary Places" by Busdriver. D-Styles is scratching on that is pretty sick too...
this messes me up everytime i listen to it its amazing to say the least i wanna know what the music peice is called an where i can get my grubby lil mits on it cause that beat is the groovyest shit ever
@mestu24 If you have any leads on where I can find this "Elaborite Experiment" on Vinyl i would be thrilled. Looked everywhere. Nothing. This video is so damn inspirational I need a copy.
@subtracktion that's definitely what he's talking about, when A-Trak scratches along to the guitar solo on a funk record. This is better but 10 years on I guess
10 years later and still amazing
I think that this is one of great and excellent examples of advanced scratch patterms executed on musical notes! NO DOUBT! Tigerstyle is a genius!
i've been watching this for 10 years
Me too :)
ive been watching this for 9 yrs ... changed my life. really
Been checkin this for a while and never gets old. Man kills it on the cut. Def top 5 best skratchers ever.
