We will be visiting a life-long friend of Steve’s in Beaver Dam on the 4th. We don’t get out much so we are looking forward to it.

Happy Birthday, Brian! Lisa, my mom always, always dried sheets on the clothesline! My Dad moved into a 55+ community with an HOA that "bans" clotheslines, so he built a retractable set-up (he's a retired mechanical engineer) that he uses because he lives in AZ, so his sheets dry in about 30 minutes, and he hasn't been caught (or reported) yet! I live near Prescott, AZ, so 4th of July is all about the parade, the Rodeo, Arts and Crafts show, and fireworks over the lake! My grandmother grew up in the South, so our family tradition is to make homemade ice cream! Grandma Ginger made peach, my Dad always made strawberry, and I make maple with candied bacon and pecans!
Happy birthday Brian - 53 is just getting started - most of my cycling club are in their 70s and routinely ride 30-50 miles at speeds of 15-20 mph. I work at a VA Hospital, so will be caring for Veterans on July 4th 😊
Lisa when we lived on an Army Post we were encouraged to use our “solar dryer”. Everyone had a freestanding clothesline in their backyard. Family is visiting the week of the 4th. We will go to a AAA baseball game with fireworks to follow. I always record A Capitol 4th on PBS so we will also watch that when we get home. A trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame is also on the agenda for the 5th.

For the 4th of July, the hubby and I are planning a trip to Mammoth Cave National Park to see the cave, spend the night, and set up our telescope (on the 5th & 6th) for some stargazing in their designated dark sky site. On the way home from the trip we are planning to stop at Buc-ee's and see what the hub bub is about!

Today in Oklahoma we are 99° (110° heat index) with a heat wave coming. We will be trying to stay cool on the 4th while enjoying a cookout with our church family.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRIAN! I work at a Hospital and am on shift on the 4th, so will be caring for others as my way of celebrating (which is just fine). I will be grilling in the back yard once I am off clock, and maybe go and watch community fireworks over the lake depending on my energy.

Are you open on the 4th? I thought I might drive up and relive the pen party. I really enjoyed meeting the manufacturer representatives and seeing the variety of offerings, like the 15 pilot custom nibs. I’m signed up for the Pelikan hub. Hope to make it.
To Brian, here's to many years! Happy birthday. I am an avid long-distance runner, having done 26 marathons and many dozen smaller races. But in recent years I have been sidelined by a variety of injuries. It seems like this dry spell may be over, and for this 4th of July I'll be running a double 10K-5K in Frankenmuth, MI, at the Volksläufe races. Will record my time on my log using a fountain pen, to be determined.

Mine is coming up as well, on the 6th, so I never argue when people joke that all the fireworks must be for me. 8D For the 4th, we will go to a friend's house next to a country club that does fireworks and sneak into the back of the golf course to watch them. My wife and I are taking the trip of a lifetime from the 3rd through the 11th of July. The trip is to see the Canadian Rockies by Train. On the 4th we will be in Vancouver, BC and we have a day trip planned to Victoria Island to see Butchart Gardens. Happy Birthday to Brian, and many more.... I have a few years on you. I will be 81 on the 11th. Enjoying my fountain pens, I am up to 33 in my collection now. I came back from St Louis Pen Show with three more. Unfortunately, two of the three have issues that I need to resolve, but that is part of the fun, figuring out how to make them work again.

I am so excited for our July 4 plans: we made reservations for our family at a restaurant on the Hudson River waterfront to watch the spectacular fireworks 🎆 over the river with the NYC skyline 🌃 in the background like when we were kids. Speaking of "kids" -- happy (youthful) birthday, Brian! 🥳

Awesome to hear that Sheaffer has Red again! It's possibly the only true basic red fountain pen ink. (As long as they don't reissue the around 1950s brown Sheaffer had...😂 1980s brown is a nostalgic brown for me. The 1950s one? Yuck. Like the first diaper change after the first time a toddler is fed either spinach or green beans...)
Plans for the 4th? Not much, this year. Maybe some grilled food and possibly watching fireworks.
