The biggest issues I've seen people discuss with the movie is how healthy the relationship with Spinel and the Diamonds will be. I guess it depends on the Diamonds' mentality, if they're trying to use her to replace Pink then it's most likely not the most healthiest, but if Spinel serves as an object of the affection and love they previously held for Pink then it might be healthy.
I feel like they're gonna treat her like a doll, i dont think they'll treat her well, infact theyll treat her too perfectly thatll get Spinel to think shes nothing but a toy to the diamonds.
Rebecca put so much work in this, on the dvd copy of the movie their was a documentary of the production and during the pitch she was so nervous and you could just tell that she was so happy and proud that she was getting through the pitch
I love this movie so much. When I first saw Steg Multiverse my immediate reaction was that spongebob meme where squidward goes "Oh nooo hes hoooot" All the songs are so good, i spent weeks listening to them all on repeat and belting out the lyrics to them Spinel has become my new favorite gem and that final fight with steven is my new favorite steven universe fight. I have watched this movie several dozen times not either watching alone, watching reactions like this or watching along with friends via Kast. Every single time that "What am i doing? why do I want to hurt you so bad? Im supposed to be your friend. I just wanted to be your friend" line gets me so bad, makes me well up with tears. I can relate to that kind of anxiety and panic attack type reaction to worrying someone is going to throw you away.

So she is a great gem and person, she is a great leader, but she learned to be. I wish he didn’t explain so much through the video I kind of wanted to see there real reactions because I know with Steven it touches you a little and pulls you in. In the outro I just wanted to see how much of it effected them, from the awesome action animation, songs, character development, just what stood out to them and they were effected by( I think “rock” is your name) interrupting mid sentence to explain a lot. Each Steven Universe episode Spinel is still waiting in the garden! Steven was 14 and Connie was 12 So that saying Steven is 16 and Connie is 14 in the movie I think that's right lol
Something I noticed. In the final song, Steven never used the words 'happily ever after'. The others did, but not Steven. Spinel broke him. She was the straw that broke the camels back. He's carried everyone and everything for so long and when he finally went to set that burden down she came out of no where and forced him to confront all of his trauma in order to save everyone. He might not be the leader but he is in charge of keeping everyone safe. She took away his ability to protect them and left him with a huge disaster about to kill everyone. Right when he thought he was safe. Now he'll never set the burden down because he has to wait for the next problem. He has to be ready. This is why he couldn't just keep outrunning his trauma the way he always did. Because if he ignored it and focused on the now where everything was fine he'd be crushed by the next bad guy. He couldn't fail them again. But, unlike Steven's other former enemies, at least she realized that asking him to forgive her and be her friend was unreasonable and unhealthy. Hopefully she can explain that concept to the Diamonds.
Ok think about this. Spinel can solo all the crystal gems. If pink took her with her and made her a member of the crystal gems then they would have had an incredibly powerful and dangerous person on their side. If finding out that pink is dead and abandoned her was enough for her to get a makeover and her rejuvenator and know how to use it pretty good then just imagine how good she be with it after thousands of years fighting and training alongside the other crystal gems. She could have also taught Steven more about his mom even stuff the others don’t know about.
Like what pearl said in very early episodes "Garnet isnt the leader, she just has high perception that lead us to our mission" something like that where amythest told steven to slam his face in his bowl of cereal to stop the foot HAHAHAHA

Rose gets a lot of hate because people see her character develupment in reverse order, and they see it through the eyes of those negatively effected by her, never looking at the context of those actions. Was she flawed? Absolutely. Was she evil. No. There are lots of videos going through the events from her perspective and speculating on the more in character motivations for things. They're quite interesting and you should give them a watch. My favorite interpritation is this: (warning: SU Future spoilers) Pink was an irresponsible brat, but curious. The other diamonds were more serious and acted as parental figures, using abusive tactics to keep her under control. She had a pink perle servent, who was the closest thing she had to a friend, though it wasn't a healthy friendship because of the power dynamic there. But it was all Pink knew. In one of her tantrums she damaged her perle. White took pink perl away from her then or soon after. We see that Pink was a lot more subdued, serious and careful after that, likely due to her guilt at damaging her perle. She was given a replacement perel. A white one. More serious and professional to keep her on track. But Pink missed having a friend, so the diamonds gave her Spinel. For a short time, this helped bring back Pink's playful side, but it wasn't the same. Not a friend. Just a toy. She wanted to be more serious. To have a collony of her own. To be taken seriously by the other diamonds. Finally she was granted a colony. But she didn't want this to be a playground. This was serious. So she left Spinel behind. Weather she thought Spinel would eventually get the message or someone else would come clean up her toys isn't clear. Did she think Spinel would stay there for thousends of years? I highly doubt it. I doubt she thought more of it than simply dismissing a servant after a meal. She was off to start a coleny. After that, it's a pretty clear story. The only intentionally malicious thing I see her doing was not telling anyone about Bismuth, especially once she knew she was going to give up her form. And I could tall a lot about that whole repressive mes of why she might have done what she did. As for Steven, she never intended for him to clean up her mes. Homeworld had been gone for thousends of years. She had no indication that he wouldn't just grow up without ever having to deal with any of it. And it's argued that Rose might have been reaching out to Steven's subconcious through his gem powers to give him answers to the threats he faced, much like how our Perle had an inner perle that reached out with information from her inner world. Though that's speculation. In short. She's a complicated person, and she gets a lot of shit that she might not fully deserve. Or at least, look at the context of those actions and see her as an abused and irresponsible young ruler who had to learn empathy throughout the series.

Weather she thought Spinel would eventually get the message or someone else would come clean up her toys isn't clear. Did she think Spinel would stay there for thousends of years? I highly doubt it. I doubt she thought more of it than simply dismissing a servant after a meal. She was off to start a coleny. After that, it's a pretty clear story. The only intentionally malicious thing I see her doing was not telling anyone about Bismuth, especially once she knew she was going to give up her form. And I could tall a lot about that whole repressive mes of why she might have done what she did. As for Steven, she never intended for him to clean up her mes. Homeworld had been gone for thousends of years. She had no indication that he wouldn't just grow up without ever having to deal with any of it. And it's argued that Rose might have been reaching out to Steven's subconcious through his gem powers to give him answers to the threats he faced, much like how our Perle had an inner perle that reached out with information from her inner world. Though that's speculation. In short. She's a complicated person, and she gets a lot of shit that she might not fully deserve. Or at least, look at the context of those actions and see her as an abused and irresponsible young ruler who had to learn empathy throughout the series.
