      Scottie is in the mould of the do everything well forward. Think Pippen (the prototype) and LeBron (the ultimate version). All possess playmaking ability, vision, defence, power, shooting, size and athleticism. As the point guard, there is only one comparison...Magic. Barnes is much more power vs finesse, and he is still figuring out the feel for the point guard at this level, which is expected. Irving was the best ever at running an offence, and, like Barnes, could defend every position.

    Scottie is the Chameleon of the NBA.
    He can seamlessly, blend into any lineup you need, on both sides of the ball.
    Your Jumbo lineup needs a PG. Put him in, and you stay Jumbo.
    Your Small lineup needs a C. Put him in, and you stay small.
    Personally, I'd want him as a lead ball handler, just wish he got more reps the last 2 years.

    • @Jakob-W
      @Jakob-W Před 5 měsíci

      He's a great rebounder but if you want to win he's better off being utilized as a PF. If he goes head to head against a dominant 7 footer it's a problem. Brook Lopez would give him a tough time in the post respectfully. You just can't teach height. He's more like Draymond or Lebron where they still need another Solid PF/C paired alongside them & can't be running point at all times. Capable? Of course. But it's not his Role to bring the Ball up the court.

    Ill break down scotties game as a raptor fan. Was very intergied by his game a prospect, was excited when we drafted him and was fairly suprised by how good he looked immediatly from the very first game he played. For a player comp its kind of difficult becauss he is a very unique player. He literally can play all 5 positions. I personally like him as a play making 4, basically what siakim is doing, but make no mistake, scottie on offense is absolutly a point guard and was so fustrating that it took the team so long to put him at his natural position. Though defensivly as capable as he might be, ideally id want him to gaurd players closer to his his size because you cant expect a 6'9 player to be chasing around speedy 6'3 gaurds around the perimeter. Magic johnson is the easy comparism but he plays has hints of giannis and even lebron while not being as fast. It a very wierd arhitype but he literally can thrive in almost any role. You play him at Center and he'll match up and shutdown the opposing bigs. To being the pg where regardless of postion is probably gonna be the team best passer and play maker. Only thing i want to see from barnes is to me more aggresive and more selfish as a player lol. He literally cant be stopped at times

    When we drafted him and I saw his tape, I immediately said the Raptors need to have this guy watching Magic Johnson on a loop. Honestly lately I been saying he's the most like Lebron, who is also really more Magic than Jordan. Think about it, he is strong and more athletic than most other players, he has a high motor, and high basketball IQ. He can get to the rim, play with his back to the bucket, and play make. Hes excellent at finding the open man. Developing the consistent jumper in just his third season is extremely impressive. He's more Lebron than Giannis IMO, but I want him to be Magic Johnson.

    Scottie kept rolling his ankles last season. Missed time during preseason and never really recovered imo

    • @MRBp2024
      @MRBp2024 Před 6 měsíci +2

      A point Toronto media kept glossing over and never pointing out.
      They are even at the games seeing Scottie constantly going down hurt, holding his knee+ankles in pain.
      Then they write there articles saying he's struggling & not trying on offense or defense.
      Scottie clearly compromised on both ends if he's not moving around well.
      This season he's recovering alot faster & it doesn't linger the same way it did last season whenever he rolls his ankles or in clear pain.
      Before when he got hurt it was very visible cause he was hobbling across the court, not leaping the same, unable to drive at the rim, was adjusting his jumpshot on every shot, not closing out on defense, not running up & down full speed.
      His jumpshot last season, mainly his 3 point shot was good prior to his injury vs Miami, he came back still not healthy and so stil couldn't get to the rim & his shot fell off completely & he lost confidence in it (as a developing shooter).
      Scottie could have easily sat out games like alot of players do & his numbers would have looked alot better. But Scottie made himself available almost every game & only missed game 4-5 games including when he went down injured & helped out the game early v Miami.
      Injuries do also effect your conditioning & last season he was 2nd in NBA in distance covered on defense despite those knee+ankle injuries.
      Scottie could easily miss games wheenevrr he was compromised.
      OG Anunoby has injury history so he's more likely to choose to miss games with some of the injuries Scottie was making himself available in games with.
      Not to say OG is not tough, but he's preserving himself rather then risk further injurying himself & making it worse.
      Scottie just wants to play, play as many games as possible.

Scottie Barnes is the same size as Scottie Pippen/Kawhi/Giannis, likes to attack downhill like Giannis/Magic, likes to pass the ball like Magic, and lives in the midrange with hooks, floaters and fadeaways like a combination of Magic and Kawhi. Scottie's shooting also very close to Kawhi's.

    Scottie is a talented player, but i think everybody is going a bit far here, the NBA definetely does not have a scottie Barnes problem. I would not be surprised if he makes a couple of All Star games in his career, but i just do not see a much higher ceiling than that. The worst the Raptors could do is to try to make a ball handler out of him rather than focusing on his strengths long term, only because he has some on-ball skills for a player of his seize, that does not really mean he is that great at it. On top of that, the Raptors are absolutely horrible this season despite having Scottie and 2 borderline All-stars.
