Miniature Retro Motel for Barbie Part 1

- Make your reservations and pack your swimsuits because it’s time for a summer vacation. By request I’m making my version of the mini retro motel from the Target dollar spot. This is a much needed vacation spot for the dolls made from foam board and paperboard.This motel is made in 1:6 scale for fashion dolls like Barbie but can easily be rescaled to fit other dolls.

Great little MCM motel! I love it. And a tip I learned from another maker: make sure you use a brand new blade when cutting foam core, to get crisp edges. Even a slightly used blade will chew up the foam core.

My granddaughter today reminded me that we need to build a beach for our Barbies and Kens, and I wondered what exactly I wanted to do with the beach.....a motel would be perfect. Terrific job btw!!

It is so pretty 😍 .Try using plastic wrap to smooth your decoupage instead of a brush or your fingers. It really does make it easier to get the wrinkles wrinkles out. out. Hope this will help. Your mother motel is wonderful. I am just making a suggestion for the next time🥰

Doors need to be 13.5" for dolls to actually step through.
Thank you. I usually make my doors to accommodate a Ken doll but because of the space I have available to store this piece I had to lower the roof resulting in the door height also be lowered.
