A Network Rail test train sets off the fire alarm at Glasgow Queen Street low level

- A Network Rail test train pulls into platform 8 of Glasgow Queen Street low level with 9701 MK2 DBSO leading. The fumes from Colas Rail 37219 at the rear triggers the fire alarm. Listen as the automated announcement continually calls for Inspector Sands. This is the fire alert for the staff who presumably must check the station and apply the full fire alarm and evacuation if necessary.
Thanks for watching and for more pics of trains and transport why not check out my Instagram page at:

Inspector Sands is something that is used in a lot of organisations in the UK as well to notify of a possible fire to prevent causing panic. A lot of places also have code words for suspicous packages, where I used to work it was Inspector Gadget. Or most recently we would say "When are we going to Sicily" and that meant start quietly evacuating the building.
NR Sectional Appendix was updated in 2016...
"Diesel traction must specifically NOT draw power when passing through [GLQ Low Level, GLC Low Level, Argyle Street], from either direction.
"Signallers must ensure that, where possible and practicable, these trains are regulated accordingly back at either Partick or Rutherglen such that they can coast through on clear signals.
"The Train Running Controller must so remind train crews of this instruction prior to passing through any of the above stations.
"The reason for this instruction is to avoid the unnecessary activation of the smoke alarms at the above stations."
1. Someone obviously complained... 😂😂
2. What about the Caledonian Sleeper? 73 hauled, and booked to stop at GLQ low level!!
It’s funny that this is in the book as most of all ROg 318/320 drags were booked to wait at GLC low Level for up to 10 minutes which is find absolutely hilarious
Wow, a 37 with so much clag that it set off the fire alarm.
The fumes from older diesel -electric trains can sometimes trigger smoke detectors at stations.
Haha, Ye good old 37s. Always at the fire alarms :P
It was definitely the smoke from the clag of the 37 that caused the fire alarm
Is this some kind of a joke? It’s already enough you lot calling me around England but now Glasgow? You’re taking the bloody mick!
Hi inspector Sands!
think there should be a system in the scotrail office and in the signalling centre to change the detectors to heat if they know a diesel is passing through. this would make it less likely from happening and is easily set back to smoke once they know the train is out of a section.
lol, the rule is no thrashing of diesel locos down there but if a 37 gets pegged then it's the law that you nail it wide open...
Seems like Network Rail like to test fire alarms with there trains too.
Inspect r sands is something you don't want to hear
KayPeaThree 3 I think the inspector sands is funny
KayPeaThree 3 Don't worry! I've heard it at Paddington! ;)
Yea it means bad news
Hearing the Inspector Sands message means it's still unconfirmed, though.
If you hear inspector sans, RUN FOR YOUR LIFE.
The alarm goes off at 1:20
Damn! I clicked on @1.21 and completely missed it.
Great
How ironic it says improving your railway 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes indeed! 😀
Myself and colleagues always said the railways would run on time if it wasn't for the passengers, so by getting them to leave... 😂
:32
Train: *Coasts through station, crapping out a bit of smoke*
Fire alarm: EMERGENCY!!! FIRE DETECTED!!! EVACUATING THE STATION NOW!!!
Well that went well.
And that's why there's inspector sands
They don't assume it a fails alarm when it goes off they are given between 6, 3, or 1 minutes depending how big the station is
They must check the whole within that amount of time if nothing done or the alarm not been reset then the station will automatically be evacuated regardless of the problem
The only time they wouldn't need to be evacuated is if there a fault with PAVA System and it 100% clear but they do announce it there fault with it
Will inspector sands please report to scotrail reception
I heard it as inspector Sam
Glasgow QS Trolled XD
Possibly the class 37 is like hah take that station
lol i was just watching that vid from beno
1:25 RIP headphone users
what type of locomotives are these two
A Class 37 at the rear with a driving van trailer up front.
Never heard of a train setting off a fire alarm
lola loud is busted well now you have 😀
@@alebbiorail439 It the alarm loud there?
@@gwengemmell6029 it’s loud enough for everyone to hear.
@@alebbiorail439 what does the actual alarm sound like, this emoji is what I mean 🚨
I believe that occasionally steam charter trains have set fire alarms off where the relevant detectors that should have been turned off don't get turned off
Bet that was loud
Test Train has secondary testing of fire alarms
What happened
haha! 😂
Do we know what is in the carriages?
Equipment to measure the integrity of the rails.
It was the Class 37 set it off
It certainly was.
That is due to clag
lol😀😀😀😀😀
Rip my guy
who the hell is inspecter sans
Inspector Sands is the UK code word for fire. Its not a real person its a code that signals that a smoke detector detected something or a fire station was pulled.
IS A THRASH OF A LOCO, NOT A FIRE!!
oops that wasent intended was it
Certainly wasn't intended!
1:20
Inspector sands is getting sacked!
Why use a FUMING DIESEL testing UNDERGROUND!?
The majority of the line is above ground. This section passes underground to pass through station. The main station upstairs is an end of the line terminus station.
i know why the train det i off because it is diesel
used all your brain cells to figure that out huh
I Didn't Hear A Fire Alarm In This Video I Didn't Hear Beep Beep In This Video At All.
XD Sam The Gamer Inspector Sands is the fire alarm
Did You Not Really?!?!?!?!
"Inspector Sands" is code for "General Emergency" which could mean anything from a fire to dangerous baggage. In this case, it was a suspected fire.
Why film this ... Why am I watching this...This must be one of
the boring videos I've ever seen on CZcams.
It's on par with watching floorboards warp...
MrSqwertery glad that you found it so boring that you had to watch it. 😃
Lol..
bad
