I feel this is a celebration of the power of introversion. It is where the mind goes that generates etherial joy. It grows from fleeting images to transcendence. To be everyone, to feel the flowing of time and timelessness, to bridge space, to be all the magic that is an atom. And no one enters her room. It is a celebration of our power within our own secret garden. 'Eternity is in love with the productions of time.'
Hello Umgapa Sky! Your words are equally as lyrical--I want to set them to music! I love and wholly buy your interpretation, though I challenge anyone to state them so eloquently as you have. I think you got to the heart of the matter. It's a very solo and personal experience she sings about.
Thanks @@DayleSong, you are very generous. The last line is a quote from William Blake's 'Marriage of Heaven and Hell', which is dark sweet chocolate for any fan of Aurora's lyrics.
That was great, really enjoyed your analysis of the song and the lyrics. I’d suggest you react to Soulless Creatures, another mysterious and interesting Aurora song.
DayleSong It was 3 or 4 years ago and I was watching the penultimate episode of the Flash. During the pivotal scene, something the whole season built up to, Murder Song (acoustic version) played. It fit the scene so perfectly, with a sense of inevitability. When I searched on CZcams I found her performance of that song at Nobel Peace Prize concert. It’s still one of the most emotional performances I’ve ever seen and felt, and you know the rest is history lol.
Thank you for sharing your deep analysis of this, Dayle. I am finding that every Aurora song is a delicate package of lyricism and robust creativity. I am excited to hear more from you! I recommend Aurora singing Ariana Grande's "God is a woman!" 🤗
Thank you, Doctor Disney! I've enjoyed your reactions to Aurora, too! I could dedicate an entire channel to her work. I love the poetry of her words and music and voice. Let's do a duet reaction sometime!
AURORA is really unique, multitalented and focused, and the first artist to grab my full attention in years! Her voice, her storytelling ability, her movements and expressiveness in live performances, everything she does seems to emanate from deep within, as channeled through whichever song she is immersed in. My interpretation of "Dance on the Moon" is that of an out-of-body experience, where she floats up into the sky, reaching the moon, dancing, then falling back to earth, only not to a hard landing, but being absorbed by the earth itself. I recommend "The Seed," either the original music video or her live performance of this song (and others) in a forest (HAIK 2019), or the orchestral version in a recent concert she gave with the Bergen Philharmonic. Also, her performance of "Churchyard" and "All is Soft Inside" at the KEXP Concert (in Iceland). Then there is the iconic concert she gave in a cathedral (Nidarosdomen). I've barely scratched the surface with these suggestions, but they are all good routes to travel.
Thank you, anon! I like your more gentle interpretation, though I feel she means to paint a harsher picture of falling back to earth. In essence, I think it really means to describe the shock of waking up from a dream, perhaps a day dream. All the same, the Moon is her happy place and ultimately it's a happy song. Your suggestions are great. I've received some of those before but not all. Your votes have been counted!

Thanks for a very nice reaction and interesting thoughts. Aurora loves the moon and to spend time alone (she has said that when she was younger she felt that she was missing out of things if she spent to much time with other people). Based on this I think this is a feel good song where she daydreams alone in her room and at some point in time the daydream will end resulting in grounding crash back to earth. She feels time cause her mind brings her back to reality in split seconds regularly throughout the dreaming and she does not want it to end. Note that the sound shifts from left to right and back in your ears as if she's sitting on a pending swing, an addition to the dreamy feelgood atmosphere.
Thank you for your keen summary, Willy Wonka Sa... I agree that the moon dancing is a happy event and that's why the music takes on that character, informing us of her happy mood. I really like your thoughts on how the audio panning seems like her swinging! I am vibing with the 8D audio!
@@DayleSong hi again. I just wanted to elaborate the meaning a small step further. The song's about being reluctantly pulled from your daydream by calls of need from wrongdoings committed to our Earth and ourselves. Its also about exploring the thoughts of this to come to terms with things that can't be fixed by you alone. Basically it's a feelgood song with seriously significant undertones.
I hope you react to more aurora in the future... her LIVE please, shes great...It happened quiet live nidarosdomen or The seed live Haik are always fantastic ones
Thank you, Jessica! Yes, I shall do more Aurora. Your suggestions are great. A few of those have been brought to my attention and I will follow through. Stay tuned!
She has said that her writing usually isn't very personal to her (in the sense of her own everyday life) but stories that she hears about or something she feels reaching out to the needs of the world. Often it seems like she writes from several perspectives at once, so the "I" or "me" in the song can be different from line to line. I think that this one has elements of this, although at the same time coming from intense (trans)personal experience. It might be from a dream, or from a full-on "spiritual" transcendent experience (which usually have a much less ephemeral quality to them). So the moon is feminine, she's dancing on it, but just as much embodying/being it. The divine feminine (being transcendent) is falling but never reaching the ground. But at one point (now?) it will penetrate (interestingly usually masculine imagery) the earth and will become everyone. This part might be something like a prophetic vision, or a need she perceives in the world. The angel-atom dichotomy seems to resonate with this and hint that the material and the spiritual is one and the same. I don't know if she's read any quantum physics, but what seems to have happened there is that the naive understanding of "matter" as something that exists independent of consciousness has been debunked for quite a while. The state of a subatomic piece of "matter" depends on the act of observing itself (when we enter the room). So it (and the I of the song) is "angelic" - a spiritual force that can't really be pinned down. Interesting thing: there is a live performance of this song on here somewhere, and during the "I feel time" part she looks at her fingers as they seem to touch something almost like you would feel a fabric.
Hi Dayle, the need to analyze many of Aurora’s lyrics makes her songs more interesting. I hope it's OK that my comment is much longer than usual...(BTW I'm also not a native speaker). Aurora has quite a few references to death in her songs, and especially in this song, as I see it. She might be more aware of the passing time than other young people (“I feel time”) because she’s consciously trying to live a life "with a purpose" (as she says in “Apple Tree”). On the one hand, she feels as small as an atom, but on the other hand she has “grandiose” dreams or fantasies of being an angel, or a warrior of love, or saving the world. The same theme appears in “Daydreamer”: “I know I’m just a girl, but can I change lives? If I am nothing, if I am trying, I think I can”. Being nothing is being powerless and insignificant, but it also means having no ego. If Aurora has no ego, if she becomes her music, then she has the power to heal. There is also another meaning to being an atom- if all the world is made of atoms, then we are all connected, and when any of us dies, they may become a part of everything or everyone. On one interview, Aurora has brought up the possibility of incarnation, or coming back as her interviewer after she dies… To go back to the theme of death in “Dance on the Moon”… I don’t know what’s the psychological nature of the voice that tries “to pull Aurora down” (or call her to give up), and this thought has saddened me and made me worried…but the “touch” that would (one day) be undone, could be a metaphor for one’s existence on the face of the Earth. Aurora also asks questions as to what may happen when she dies (“when I’m blinded”): Will I become one with the universe (In her words, “Will my eyes become the planets”)? Will I become everyone else? She also refers to the impact of her leaving: People will wonder why…They may be effected by the way I leave..In what state of mind will I be? Will I laugh or cry? Will I leave in anger? (“Will my mouth be filled with fire”?). Since Aurora’s typical way of thinking is selfless, one of her first thoughts is how to comfort others when she’s gone. So in the beginning of the song, before even going through all these dark themes, she expresses her hope that after we die, ”love will come to us again as a place we all can come”. Aurora balances the darkness in the song with some light, and that might be the reason why the music sounds quite cheerful. Aurora has once said that sometimes, when she writes sad songs, she tries to "wrap" them up with something that makes them appear less sad, to make it easier for the listeners. Another example for Aurora's need to comfort everyone can be found in one of her early unreleased song “When I’m Gone” (Getting Colder). However, this song would be much easier for you to interpret. So if you’re looking for another lyrics “challenge”, you might want to check out “Soulless Creatures”.

Trippy tune, danceable, with personal lyrics! Each of us have our own view. Moon and Earth are connected in an eternal dance, if you follow earth evolution, the moon has already penetrated Earth leaving a core which helped stabilize the earth, which helped create all of us. Now, the moon which still has feminine power over the earth will continue the dance until it leaves the pull of the earth resulting in the death rattle of the earth. I’m sure AURORA was thinking differently than I just did! Thanks for the reaction!

Hi, You might be able to see concerts with Aurora soon. We (norwayconcerts.com) are in dialog with Aurora`s management regarding concerts in Bergen in Jan/Feb. 2021
Hi Karen, I thought the 8D was a good opportunity for an audiophile kind of approach to hearing a song for which the lyrics were my focus (though I will always discuss her lyrics because they're so rich). Also, the only visual I found for this song was an unofficial animated version, but that would show someone else's opinion of the interpretation. Now if I see her perform this in concert, I will have some background to enjoy it even more.
I enjoyed watching her sing these in a simple, acoustic setting, and her addressing the audience is so genuine. I especially liked watching her first moments of preparation before beginning DOTM. That brief time of focus is so important before beginning a song! Thanks once again for sharing this.
Too much over-analysis for me but thank you for your reaction. If you look too deep into the lyrics then you sometimes miss the song, in my humble opinion ❤ Watch her one and only live version of this song, It's beautiful. Much love from London 👍

Hi Stephen. Thanks for watching. It's "feel". I had the lyrics in front of me and I just checked two other sources to be sure of your comment. Thank you, thehonestcritic6577!! It's certainly "feel" with her accent. We JUST launched our reaction to the Nidarosdomen concert -- Part One yesterday on Peter's channel (@Doctor.Disney) and Part Two this morning on mine. Please check them out and let us know what you think!
Hi dobrow1! I enjoyed reading your perspective on the universe (if you will) of this song. There is so much there to read into and it is personal for each of us. Thank you for sharing and check back for more Aurora soon!
The River next, please!
Thank you for the suggestion, Ilya! I'll check it out!
Just to clarify, Aurora has released 2 albums and 2 EPs. -
Running with the wolves - EP - 2015
All my demons greeting me as a friend - album - 2016
Infections of a different kind (step 1)- EP 2018
A different kind of human (step 2) - album - 2019
Thanks for the suggestions, dansegelov305! There is so much material to hear of Aurora's and all of it excellent! Peter and I JUST launched our reaction to Aurora's Nidarosdomen concert -- Part One yesterday on Peter's channel (@Doctor.Disney) and Part Two this morning on mine. Please check them out and let us know what you think! We were blown away by her performance and the entire ethos of that concert!
I love your videos! I just wanted to ask, would there be a way for you to maybe eliminate some of the space on your left side so that you can make the video of the performance bigger for us?
It would be great for You to analise more of her songs, got yourself a new subscriber. 👍
Live version of black Water Lillies on Honda stage would be great! ☺️
Also her song Daydreamer! You couldn't miss Daydreamer....
Love this song. And yes Aurora lyrics always need some interpretation and sometimes it is different for different people. But there are also often so poetic.
A little distractict version (8D) as sound moving from left to right etc. Prefer original version without this sound movement:).
Thanks, Geralt26! She is deep, for sure, and often enigmatic!
Aurora have said many times that she see the Moon as female... and the Sun as male...
i wish it wasn’t just audio, seeing the video or a performance would be awesome.

Thank you for the link, Kent!
Wellcome back Dayle. Always fun listening to you sir.

@@geirsaelensminde1888 Ooooh! Thats good news indeed. Aurora live is just the best thing ever.
@@maxsteiner1964 Hi, yes Aurora live is amazing. The concerts will be in Bergen Cathedral or in The Grieg Hall. Geir
Hello, Max! Yes, it's a joy to follow Aurora again! As I pick up my pacing of how much I post, I hope to give a lot more attention to Aurora's music coming up. Nice to know you're following!
Hi Geir! How exciting! Please keep me informed of your progress with those concerts. I would like to hear them on the first day they are broadcast.
Its a longshot but please react to babymetal - akatsuki. Thank so much! ! ! ☺😊 Sorry for bad english! ! ! !
Hi Antoine! I have been considering reacting to Babymetal by someone else's recommendation, too. I don't know her music yet, however. Thanks for suggesting a specific song! She looks like a lot of fun! (And if you speak French, I do too. Merci pour la pensée!)
@@DayleSong Votre accueil 😊
Can you react to Chloe and Halle's album Ungodly Hour! It's amazing!
Hi Onlylexy! Thank you for the selection. I will add it to my list. I have at least 3 top requests for CxH and I need to do them! You give me the impetus and encouragement!
Isn't it "I fill time watching me dance on the moon"
Hi Stephen. Thanks for watching. It's "feel". I had the lyrics in front of me and I just checked two other sources to be sure of your comment. Sometimes Americans pronounce feel like "fill", so it's easy to confuse them. I like "feel", though. It's more personal. Given that is is feel, does it change how you hear it?
@@DayleSong Yes but I'm not convinced lol In a video I've seen she is sat in a window looking at the moon , i would say that she was filling time not feeling it . We must agree to disagree. Cheers , good review
That "8d version" was really annoying. I couldn't watch this because of that. Consider using original audio next time, not some destroyed version.
Hi. I appreciate your thoughts on this, Kent. I liked the 8D sound, but I will go back for myself to listen to the original in consideration of your feeling about it. Thanks!
Maybe "not as indended by the artist" is a better description of the 8d version. She's a perfectionist in the studio.
Here's a link to a live version. Seeing Aurora performing live versions of her songs is usually when you realize she's a lot more than just music, if you click with her personality.

Excellent clarification and thoughts. I do vibe with her personality and enjoy her live performances immensely. Thanks for the link. I'll take a liook.
