Hundreds attend pro-Palestine rally at University of Melbourne and ignore request to leave

The University of Melbourne cancelled classes for thousands of students in response to a pro-Palestine encampment and rally.

A large crowd, including some staff members, gathered outside as police arrived to monitor the situation. Guardian Australia understands 6,500 students have been affected by class disruptions after the rally that filled the university's Arts West building on Thursday
