Hi Jady do you have any recommendations for 3rd-5th grade?
Jady you've helped me with my homeschooling journey as a newbie to the process so thank you! I am constantly on the hunt for good authors and books to read with the kids so this particular part of the video to me was the most helpful. It'll be greatly appreciated if you get a chance to do a tour of your home library or favorite authors/books for elementary students.

We did elemental phonics 1 and we’re learning consonant blends now. How do I get my daughter out of the habit of sounding out each letter before blending? For example she could see Sam 3 times in a bobs book and still sound it out on the fourth appearance
Brianna, ask your daughter to read and say the word without sounding out each letter. If she can do it, then encourage her to just say each word. If she has to sound each letter out, then she may not be ready to move on to reading without sounding it. I think that she will naturally stop sounding each letter out when she is ready.

I am curious about this also! Sometimes it is just the student type, but my little doesn’t thrive with Math-U-See and I’m wondering how Saxon is different

I know usually she does Math u see for kindergarten then moves to saxon for grades 1st - 3rd and then she moves them on to teaching textbooks for grade 4 and beyond. She shows the upper grades in her private community if that helps ❤

Hello Jady! Thank you so much for another great video. Im a homeschool mom of 2 boys and our state doesn't require test prep but what is a good way to know my kids have mastered the concepts for each grade level? Do you use any test assessments? Thanks! God Bless you
Your state should have standards for each subject that you can Google to make sure you're not falling behind public school.

Just out of curiosity why did you choose to go with Saxon Math over Horizons? I have used both and I seen that you are using Horizons for Kinder so that just made me wonder! I really love your phonics series resources! My own children are beyond that level now but I own and operate a preschool out of my home (as well as home school) and I am very interested in using your resources for my preschoolers!
This particular child I chose Horizons Math for would benefit from Horizons fast past method and colorful pages for Kindergarten. She will be going to Saxon for 1st grade and up. Every child is different and has different ways they learn best. Not all curriculum fit every child.
I would like to know if you will be using the homeschool version or the intermediate version for 4th grade and after? I would like your input on which you prefer and why, please?
Does the Elementary Writing book align with Elemental Phonics books 2 & 3? I noticed during your flip through that some of the book seemed to use the phonics words from EP #2 and looked like it would work really well with that particular book.
Hi. I have a daughter Gabby's age. We are on week 2 of blending 2- letter words per one of your videos. A little frustrating for both but it is getting better. Do you have a video up about preschool/preK curriculum? If not, can you do a video or suggest lessons to do with her? She knows a lot of what you teach Gabby but not reading/blending yet. We are working on that now and hope to be much further before the school year begins. Thanks for Sharing!

Hi Jady, I just received my 2 orders of the 3 kindergarten books. Question about this particular video. Is capitalization and punctuation gone over at this level or is it something we teach ourselves?
Yes the exercises with sentence building- the child has to punctuate the sentence and capitalize as instructions specify and with the guidance of the parent.
What do you think about the curriculum moving beyond the page?
I’m trying together the preschool and memory course half off price but it doesn’t let me , today is the last day it that’s what is the description box. I couldn’t before because of money and then the hurricane Beryl we didn’t have energy or internet. Please let me know how I can get them I want to use them for this school year. Thank you

I love watching your videos! But do you have any time with spelling. I feel like I missed the mark there with my son in first grade. I followed most of your tips but don’t know if I missed spelling tips.
Kids in first grade do not need to learn spelling. They are mastering reading. I do not introduce spelling until 7- 8 years old and my kids are great spellers. Spelling curriculum is not needed in the early years although they practice it through our daily writing.
