The Turkish language (Türkçe), which is also referred to as Istanbul Turkish, is the most widely spoken of the Turkic languages, with most of its native speakers living in Western Asia, and significant group of speakers in Germany, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Northern Cyprus, Greece, the Caucasus, and other parts of Europe and Central Asia. Ottoman Turkish, which was a variation of the Turkish spoken today, influenced many parts of Europe during the time that the Ottoman Empire expanded. When the modern Turkish republic was established, one of Atatürk's Reforms consisted of changing the Ottoman Turkish alphabet with a Latin alphabet. Today, Turkish is recognized as a minority language in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Greece, Iraq, Macedonia, and Romania.
Modern Standard Urdu is a Persianised and standardised register language of the Hindustani language. It is the official national language and lingua franca of Pakistan. In India, it is one of the official languages recognized in the Constitution of India, having official status in the five states of Jammu and Kashmir, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Jharkhand, as well as the national capital territory of Delhi. For centuries prior to the British colonization, Persian was widely used as a second language in the Indian subcontinent and has had a huge impact on the languages of the region.
In this video we included some religious Islamic terms which are commonly used by Muslims. The interesting part about these terms is that they differ from Arabic, even though the common assumption among many people is that popular terms used in the Muslim word relating to the religion of Islam will have Arabic roots.

@Nischal Khan wait I have 50 characters for a name? The most common because 40% of Pakistanis are Punjabis...Urdu has really huge influence by Turkish (some are the same words like dunya, dushman, sultan, and others), Arab (even our alphabet is in arab), and persian (our national anthem is in Persian).
@Nischal Khan wait I have 50 characters for a name? Urdu isn't really indian.
Hindi is different than Urdu not only accent but also some words are the opposite. Hindi is an Indian language, Urdu the pakistani official language.

The Country of The Great Bilal RA
بلال
لکھا ہے ایک مغربی حق شناس نے
اہل قلم میں جس کا بہت احترام تھا
BILAL R.A.
A righteous Western writer has written; who was highly respected among the literateur:
جولاں گہ سکندر رومی تھا ایشیا
گردوں سے بھی بلند تر اس کا مقام تھا
‘Asia was the marshaling place of Sikandar of Rome; his status was more elegant than even the sky.
تاریخ کہہ رہی ہے کہ رومی کے سامنے
دعوی کیا جو پورس و دارا نے، خام تھا
History attests that in combat with the Romans the claims of Porus and Dara were vain.
دنیا کے اس شہنشہ انجم سپاہ کو
حیرت سے دیکھتا فلک نیل فام تھا
At this emperor with the myriad-man army the blue sky was looking with amazement.
آج ایشیا میں اس کو کوئی جانتا نہیں
تاریخ دان بھی اسے پہچانتا نہیں
Today nobody knows him in Asia; even the historian does not recognize him.
لیکن بلال، وہ حبشی زادئہ حقیر
فطرت تھی جس کی نور نبوت سے مستنیر
But Bilal (R.A.), that humble person with Negroid origin, whose nature had been brightened by the Prophethood’s (S.A.W.) Light.
جس کا امیں ازل سے ہوا سینہء بلال
محکوم اس صدا کے ہیں شاہنشہ و فقیر
The call whose custodian the breast of Bilal since eternity,* became subservient to which call emperors as well as the indigent became!
* Allusion to Azan.
ہوتا ہے جس سے اسود و احمر میں اختلاط
کرتی ہے جو غریب کو ہم پہلوئے امیر
Which brings amity between the black and the red; by which the poor and the rich are placed together.
ہے تازہ آج تک وہ نوائے جگر گداز
صدیوں سے سن رہا ہے جسے گوش چرخ پیر
That heart-melting song is fresh till the present age; which the old sky’s ear has been hearing for centuries.’
اقبال! کس کے عشق کا یہ فیض عام ہے
رومی فنا ہوا، حبشی کو دوام ہے
Iqbal! This general blessing is due to whose love? The Roman has perished, the Negro is immortal!

But still some words are very old or created at that time, period , these words need a specific dictionary or research
@Muhammad Simoom Anjum Have you ever seen any old material written in that script? It is not exactly the original Arabic script , it is a modified version according to Turkish language .
And no, Turkish in old alphabet is not exactly Ottoman . It is a specific literatüre form used in official papers and poetry .May be you should download some material and try to read it .

I wish I can take part in one of your language videos... I am extremely passionate fascinated about the Punjabi Urdu Persian Arabic languages and overall punjabi and Middle-eastern lifestyle . Too bad I live in Edmonton, or else I would’ve loved to meet you and talk about these cultures.
I came across your content and was really intrigued and fascinated by how people are comparing sentences and vocabulary that have the same meaning. Even Before I came across your video , I have always loved talking to people from the middle-east and other cultures. Me and the other person would compare how similar how our values, cultures, languages, customs and traditions and feel fascinated with the similarities. Since I was a kid, I was always curious about topics related to different languages, cultures, races, traditions, and religions, etc ...
I was born and raised in the UK and immigrated to Canada when I was in grade 9. Despite growing up in a western cultural setting and never of travelled to my homeland which is Punjab India, Punjab Pakistan. I am very attach to my ancestry roots and cultural. I feel a deep sense of longing to see and experience where my roots are from. Whenever I see an New arrived young immigrant from Punjab India/Pakistan or from the Middle-East, I see a young versions my parents. I am grateful to all those parents who worked hard to adapt to a different culture, struggled, and made many sacrifices to give us a good life in the west.
Anyways, sorry to take up your time. I just to express my gratitude for creating such beautiful content. To me, your content indirectly spreads a message of: “no matter whatever cultural we come from, we all share the same values and we should accept and respect each other’s differences and cherish the shared similarities.
Thank you

yayyy! We Pakistanis love Turkey too.
The name Urdu's itself come from Turkish word: Ordu. Ordu means Horde/Army/Military. Turkic states gave this name to the language.
Exactly
Yes Urdu was a military linguistic code for the soldiers of multiple islamic regions to co-ordinate in. The mughal and a few empires before them throughout 1000 years of muslim rule of what is knows as Pakistan India Bangladesh and Myanmar today was one nation under the Muslim throne for 1000 years or 800 years stricktly speaking. During that time Muslims of different regions spoke differnt dialects of persian turkish and arabic so to standardised the military the Army chiefs developed A code for the Muslim army to avoid confusion and be effective. Later on it became lingua franca of house houlds centuries later under 300 years of British Rule. People who spoke farsi and turkisj could adapt to Urdu with in a few weeks.
Hence urdu was known as Language of the lashkar or warriors. And thats why u see pakistan as a Military centered country.
Note worthy is a fact that. Farsi (persian) and Arbi (Arabic) were a compulsory language to learn for first 30 years of existance of pakistan. My father and my mother are just as proficient in Farsi and Arabic as they are in urdu. For my generarion it changed . now its British English and urdu only with arabic and farsi as optional subjects after 7th grade. Now we can only read farsi and arabic but we can't comprehend it or converse in those languages.
deniz
Ya exactly .
Actually Urdu is the combination of different languages .
In Urdu, Urdu means "Lashkar" and yes Lashkar belongs to An Army. . . So basically Urdu is a Lashkar of many different languages.
Urdu is an Indic language. Its grammar and phonology resemble other north Indian languages. It just has adopted vocabulary from Persian and Arabic. As a Persian speaker I can barely understand Urdu except for a few words here and there

The Pakistani girl is genius. My mother tongue is Urdu. I couldn't guess most of the words on my own (without her help). The way she derives foreign words in Urdu is really amazing.
Pakistani natives tend to underestimate their foreign counterparts. I get this with my family back In Pakistan who often try to belittle us (In a friendly/snarky), low-key belittling kinda way about us being away and not knowing anything about what's going on here, teasing us about forgetting our roots, language, culture etc.
Some of us are formally taught the Urdu language, admittedly to various degree depending on which country and class of family you hail from. Whereas those at home are sometimes illiterate. I guess we're well taught In the UK and US.
So when I come to Pakistan, they're mystified when my command over Urdu is just as good if not better than theirs lol. My writing is a little sloppy but I can definitely read and speak it fluently.
The Pakistani lady has a solid grasp over Urdu by the looks of it. Better than some natives to be honest. She guesses words I mostly couldn't make connections with from Turkish. Definitely a formal education.
Anyways, both the ladies are awesome! Never realised so many connections between the two languages. In fact, I never knew about the Persian connection of the Turkish language. Need to brush up on my linguistics. xD
Agreed
I’m Pakistani and I did the same. It’s usual bro

Nothing makes me happier than seeing an Irani a Turkish and a Pakistani together. We need to unite.
Why? To support the fake-Turks in Anatolia to kill more Kurdish people who are actually more related to Persian, Urdu and Pashtun as well as in blood and language family?! Morons. Narrow minded morons.
I am not talking about governments. I am talking about people. Governments divide us humans. I want humans to unite. @@rainhawk5264 we don't kill Kurds, Kurds are our brothers that fought side by side with us in the the independence war. European countries were able to get the alot of the people to stand up against the Turks but they couldn't separate the Kurdish people because they chose to stay side by side with the Turks and helped in the independence war. I give them big respect to them. But the pkk are not a Kurdish group, this group is made to destroy Turkey. If Turkey falls then u guys will be a base for for transportation of oil and weapons to the west and from the west, and their not going to help u or even give u water to drink. After that Istanbul, because Istanbul is a vary important place in history their going to try to take away Istanbul from Turkey by making massive rebellions. After that the fake genocide about Armenia, 100s even 1000s of movies will be made about the fake genocide. Then their going to kill the Turks living in Europe and Turkey will not be able to do nothing about it because they will be weak. U don't have to like Erdogan but saying that if he was gone then Turkey will be a better country(people that thinks that are officially wrong). As we all know that all presidents come and go but Erdogan is a important president to Turkey which he uses his mind before doing a move. A countries biggest strength is not there military or economy(but these are some things needed) but their biggest strength is there mind and how they use it.
There was this guy in Turkey that gave a wonderful speech. He said "wake up all muslims cant u see as we all are fighting our own brothers and sisters that were made by Allah and that are going through Allah path. Wake up all muslims as we all fight it makes the others happier. Wake up because the person ur fighting is the person that is ur brother". Erdogan bizim, attaturk bizim, kurtlar bizim can kardeslarimidir. Hep musliman erkelar bizim canimizdir ve harseyimizder.
I'm really impressed with Ayesha(is she a newcomer?). The composure, the enunciation, eloquence, accent, contributes to the conversation just enough, there's something very satisfying about her presence.

I just knew Malay also derived some words from Arabic and Persian. I shocked when they say “pehlivan” , which in Malay means “Pahlawan” (warrior/hero). 😂
As a learner of Turkish and more recently of Persian, I have also noticed that a lot of persian vocabulary is used in religious context as "abdast" for the cleaning before prayer, from Persian "آبدست" (water-hand). More interestingly, my Persian friend told me that that word in Persian is not used often anymore, instead they use an arabic word. I've noticed this in other contexts too, like the most common Turkish word for "aim" or "target" is "amaç" from Persian آماج" even though that word sounds archaic in Persian, being supplement by the arabic word "هدف", ehich exists in Turkish too as "hedef" but less common.
Thank you a lot for your great content!

Persian is the mother language to Urdu and also influenced Turkish. Respect to the great persian culture, Love to Iran from pakistan!
Persian is not a mother of Ordu. Sanskrit is a mother of Ordu and all indo-aryan languages including panjabi and sindhi. You can remove Persian nouns and replace them with English but you can't declare Latin mother of Urdu by doing that Coz grammatical structure matters after all and that's inherited by Sanskrit.
Well, Persian is derived from Sanskrit.. and urdu is also derived from Sanskrit..
@surgical analysis Since they both are indo European language, they share common ancestry. But Sanskrit is now an entirely different language, they're not a lot of thing in common.

Urdu is basically a Turkish word which means army (Lashkar - لشکر). Urdu is a combination of 9 languages. During the reign of Mughal King Jahangir, his army consisted of soldiers of Hindu, Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Greek and other nationalities. From the combination of all these languages, Urdu language came into existence. And then this language was very much appreciated and later on introduced regularly.

Do Pakistanis have any self respect or not.
@@RahulYadav-uv8fz what ever you speak in India we in Pakistan do not understand. However the Bollywood tries to speak a language that would be more understandable by Urdu speaking public. The Urdu language has a Persian script, with a vocabulary that is largely Turkish, and Persian. The Arabic influence on languages spoken throughout the Muslim world comes from the Quran. Ofcourse we have a lot in common because India itself has been ruled by Turks for a 1000 years.

U mean your best friend is from Pakistan. They are called Pakistanis, and their language is called Urdu.
There's an old famous confectionery in Belgrade called "Пеливан"(Pelivan).
The name surely stems from the Ottoman influence,
though it's hard to say why would a shop selling cakes and sweets carry that name.
Cool to learn what does it originally mean.
Because in the old days the Pelvan would also run the confectionery and milk and butter business to make money and to feed himself these high energy foods so that he could train and keep fit for wrestling tournaments, in Pakistan and India we still have this tradition, hope this sheds some light regarding your question, take care 🙂.
Those words are also same in Azerbaijani language.because we are also using some phersian and arabic words.

Urdu and Hindi is same language only politics divide that. All over the world this language is reffered to as Hindustani.
@@jonasdavies1806 no urdu and hindi r two different languages. U understand it because of bollywood. Bollywood is 80 percent urdu but irony is they call it hindi.
@@zakirsheikh7765 I'm a native Hindi speaker, the Hindi I speak isn't too different from Bollywood, what should my takeaway be? Hindi and Urdu are the same language, linguists hyphenate the two and refer to it as 'Hindi-Urdu', or just 'Hindustani'; you're being outright delusional if you call them 'different languages'; heck even I could say 'Pakistanis speak Hindi, but the irony is they call it Urdu lollllz', see how pointless this is? The artificial distinction between the two is something that became concretised after the partition, your national poet used the terms interchangeably in his poetry 'gar-che Urdu dar uzubat shakar ast, lek Parsi-am ze-Hindi shirintar ast'.. Though I will concede, colloquial 'Hindi' of today is far closer to standard Urdu than standard Hindi.
@@cartic.t : u understand urdu as I already told u because of boolywood. As the earlier songs lyricist, the movie writes were native urdu speakers. BTW, u only need 3000 or less to speak in any language. And if are tht much confident, test ur skills with Pakistani serials or somgs, I bet u will not understand form them much.
@Zakir Sheikh See, don't bother responding if you aren't even going to engage with anything I say and just go around in circles and repeat what you've already said. Bollywood uses what sounds to you like standard Urdu, yes, because colloquial Hindi and Urdu are indistinguishable to begin with. Don't take my word for it, read up on your own from neutral sources on the history of Hindi-Urdu. Do you not manage to notice how absurd your claims are? I, as a native Hindi speaker, was taught my native language by movies? “Boolywood” taught me how to form my first sentence at age 2? I don't see why you're being this defensive either, nothing I said comes from a place of confrontation, and as I already said, colloquial Hindi is closer to standard Urdu than standard Hindi, simply because Urdu was the literary standard across North India for generations before Sanskrtized Hindi came to be taught in schools. What exactly are you taking offence to? I've already 'tested my skills' plenty, thanks so much.
Thanks for leading me here Bahador. It was interesting to note the similarities. There are many more similar words. Takhta e khaab is also used as bed in Urdu but unfortunately it is one of those many words which are fast disappearing from daily use. For garden, many words are used such as bagh, baghca, baghicha.
